It was extremely crowded for a weekday morning, but I decided to wait. A male nail tech greeted me and said the wait would be about 25 minutes. I picked the colors I preferred and took a seat. The wait was about 30 minutes, just like I was told. The front area of the salon felt cramped because it was so crowded, but it was reasonably comfortable and quiet. Most of the customers appeared to be middle-aged housewife types and/or college-aged kids. All the nail techs were polite, but most of them didn't seem eager to engage with customers, which is fine. Anyway, the male tech that initially greeted me eventually told me I could go to the back. A sweet young lady ended up working with me. I don't recall her name, but she appeared to be younger. She did a nice job on my nails. She did my pedicure first, and when it was time to do my manicure, we couldn't find the color I'd selected. Someone had picked it up and walked off with it, so I ended up having to pick another color. The nail tools that were used were sterilized, and the salon appeared to be clean. The manicure and pedicure cost $55, which is fairly reasonable. I didn't have any cash on me, so I was able to tip my nail tech via Zelle. I tip generously when the service is good, so I sent her $20. The young lady took her time, and the service didn't feel rushed, which was appreciated. I'd definitely return to TLC Nails in the future.

When I walked in, I clearly asked for a dip manicure -- it's what I had on and what I always get. The tech removed my old set and started applying what I thought was the base for dip, but it turned out she was doing an acrylic overlay instead. I only realized something was off when they pulled out the no-chip/gel polish. I mentioned again that I asked for dip, and the male tech tried to tell me what I had on before was no-chip (it wasn't -- it was dip, just with a design on one nail). I explained I get dip because it adds strength, which I need for my hands-on job. Instead of fixing it, they just added a layer of builder gel and said it would help. It's now Monday, and one of my nails already broke -- literally just from putting on my shoes. My dip manicures normally last 4+ weeks without any issues. If I weren't traveling internationally for work right now, I'd go back and demand a refund. Really disappointed that I didn't get the service I asked (and paid) for, and that it didn't even last the weekend.

Sadly, I found out the hard way that every 2 weeks for a year isn't enough. I try for once a month, sometimes twice, an eyebrow and lip wax. I limit myself due to my age and sensitivity my skin has gotten since turning 50. Yesterday, I sat for my usual treatment only to have her decide I needed a chin waxing. I have never had nor needed one and was quite shocked when she spread the wax on my chin. Before I could say anything, she said for me not to worry and that she had seen some hairs and RIPPED the wax off - along with my skin! Afterwards, while getting my nails done, I could feel the continued stinging and finally cried out to the nail technician who immediately began to assist in relieving my pain. She grabbed the tech who made the mistake, and she apologized while running out to get medicine to help. After waiting for 30 minutes, I left. The owner actually tried to make me pay, as customers were asking if I was going to be ok! HE didn't give 1 ounce of care or take accountability for his technician's mistake. He simply was telling everyone there was "a communication confusion." WILL NEVER, EVER GO BACK!
