HONEST, trustworthy, great service and price. We hired Magic Mountain chimney to re-insulate the dog shed of our 22 year old builder installed Heatilator gas fireplace. I live in Howard County. Steve and his crew came out. Pleasant, professional, HONEST!!!! You always hate when a repair tech says the dreaded "come here I have to show you something". But Steve showed me how my fireplace was improperly installed . The interior fan was backwards, the exterior had huge gaps missing insulation, caulking and proper sealing. Nice job Ryan Homes! Anyway due to improper construction there was rotted wood. Steve didn't just insulate and close it back up, he replaced the rotten wood, insulated, and sealed everything with heat rated caulk. Steve and Magic Mountain have restored my faith that some companies are still willing to do a great job for a very fair price. Oh, and Steve discovered the electrical switch was going bad and replaced as well. Do not waste your time with other companies. Call Magic Mountain. Btw, I Called a local (Ellicott City) very well known fireplace company for an estimate. I burst into laughter when I saw their estimate! For the work that needed to be done their estimate was absolutely absurd. Howard country residents call Magic Mountain. I will refer them to every neighbor who has a gas fireplace that feels like the frozen tundra in the winter. Well worth every penny I paid to have this to all done right. Wish I did it decades ago (since when I complained to the builder about it their only response was "what do you expect you have a hole in your house") Thank you Magic Mountain! Great job, very friendly people from their phone service to their techs that came out. They cleaned up everything well, were very thorough and never tried to sell me on additional work! I even showed them a place where my chimney was leaking during a heavy rain and they showed me exactly where they thought it was and just recommended I caulk it. I'm attaching before and after pics. So Thankful. Our heatilator is 24 years old. Chimney Sweeps of Sherwood Forest told us we needed to replace the unit for $12k +construction costs. Steve Grothe came in from Magic Mountain-nicest guy you could hope to meet. Very Knowledgeable-30+ years experience. Cleaned the unit and for less than $300, it's working Beautifully and he even cleaned the glass-looks brand new! What a gem of a guy and a Treasured find to have Magic Mountain. Excellent experience with this company; called mid-week and they were able to get out in a few days to take a look at my chimney flue. I thought for sure it was broke but Jose called within minutes of arriving to let me know it wasn't and he re-assembled it properly, and at no charge. I went ahead and had them inspect the chimney while they were there, and they charged a reasonable price (under $130) and provided a written estimate of the recommended repairs, along with photos of the interior/exterior. Highly recommend this company. We've used this company twice. First time was to inspect our chimney when we first bought our property. The guys were professional and friendly. We used them for a second time about a month ago when we were having problems with our fireplace insert. The guys explained that it was a great wood fireplace insert and explained how to properly operate it (at a very cost friendly price). We then offered to have them clean the chimney, and they inspected it, but told us we didn't need to clean it yet. What honest people !!! read more

Nice company and very professional. Jose did a great job of cleaning the chimney and inspecting it for leaks and damage since we saw some evidence of water damage around the base of our fireplace. He found that the chimney was separating a little from the house. However, this is where I only give 3 stars: The suggested remedy was a complete rebuild for $14,000. We called our insurance company for a second opinion and to see if there was some possible cause that would provide coverage. What we found was that although it wasn't covered, they felt that our chimney did not need to be rebuilt and was in fact in pretty good shape. They gave us some suggestions on what to look for in a repair and a couple of other improvements that could be made to make parts of the chimney more waterproof. Our regular construction contractor gave us a third opinion and also feels that it absolutely requires repair, but not a total rebuild. I would recommend Magic Mountain for routine maintenance, but I would caution people to get a second opinion before engaging in costly repairs. read more
