Body By Design

$$

I apologize for this lengthy review! have been a customer of this business dozens of times for…read moreyears, and I will attempt to summarize all of my visits into one review. Body By Design offers many modalities of massage, including Swedish (for relaxation), deep tissue (for muscle knots), trigger point (for tightly contracted muscle fibers and pain), lymphatic (for reducing swelling and edema and supporting the immune system), sports (for athletes), prenatal (for pregnant women), reflexology (no medical diagnoses but a good foot massage), bamboo (for ironing out muscle knots), hot stone (heat for stretching muscles), lomi lomi (which is Hawaiian and is relaxing just like Swedish but uses longer, faster strokes), shiatsu (acupressure and some stretching to restore energy flow and relieve tight muscles), Thai (lots of stretching and compression), etcetera. If you schedule a 1.5-hour or 2-hour massage, then you will have more time to combine multiple modalities into one massage. The business also offers reiki (a gentle touching or hovering of hands for emotional and physical wellbeing), DermoNeuroModulation (which stretches the skin, stimulates nerves, and improves movement), and Ortho-Bionomy (which gently realigns muscles, bones, and fascia to improve posture, heal physical injuries, and relieve stress). Body By Design also offers several enhancements: hot stones or bamboo (mentioned above but also an add-on), cupping (which increases blood flow in muscles and feels very energizing but also leaves temporary red marks on the skin!), aromatherapy (which smells good and relaxes you), exfoliating scrubs for the hands and feet (to remove dead skin cells and soften the skin), CBD oil (to relieve pain and produce relaxation), and oxygen gel (to soften the muscles). Body By Design employs several massage therapists. I have received massages from all of them, and they all have very pleasant personalities and give highly therapeutic massages. In general, I have found that the therapists Heather, Mareena, Sugar, and David talk a little during massages and give somewhat gentler massages. I have found that Mark and Donna Marie talk more, and their information educates me about what exact muscles have knots. Page specializes in Ortho-Bionomy. Prices for services range from $63 for a 30-minute session to $163 for a 120-minute session plus a tip, and you can receive a discount with a membership or a package. Appointments can be easily made either through Body By Design's website, the MindBody mobile application, or telephone, and they send emails and text messages as reminders.

I had a mixed experience here - as the shop was beautiful, the staff was pleasant, but the massage…read morefell short. My "deep tissue" massage was not very deep, not were any of my focus points worked on liked I asked for. And my main gripe, is that my massage therapist talked the entire time, and thats just not what I'm looking for.

I've always been very impressed with how well she has been able to understand me through body language and massage me the way that I need without ever making me feel any physical discomfort in the way that other massage therapists have. I had the pleasure of experiencing Massage with Abby both one on one and during a couples massage class with my partner and she is hands down my favorite massage therapist. During the class, she provided intuitive constructive criticism to my partner and has improved the way he massages me to this day. She also made me feel significantly more competent in being able to massage my partner as well. I would highly recommend her both one on one as well as through the class that she offers couples. The price is completely worth it with Abby and she is the best!

I booked a 90-minute couple's massage class for my boyfriend and I for his Valentines gift. The…read moreclass was very personalized--Abby did a great job of combining what we wanted to learn with her perceptions of our areas of tension. She even pulled out books to show me the muscular anatomy, so I could understand the muscles that are causing my boyfriend's headaches and how to best find them and work on them. I have some experience with reiki and she even showed me how to work reiki into the massage techniques. You can take notes or take pictures and videos with your phone so that you can bring this knowledge home, but you'll also have plenty of time to work on the techniques and build them into your memory. Abby is very intuitive and quickly picked up on our needs, and we had a very relaxing time. Massage is a great way for couples to care for each other and strengthen intimacy, I would highly recommend this class for any couple looking to destress together. Prices are super reasonable too. We'll definitely be back for another lesson sometime, and I already booked a massage for just me next week!
