I submitted a request through Yelp to find face painters and David responded quickly. The information and additional services sealed the deal. Upon arrival, set up was easy, prepared, and early. Super friendly service offered but even better was the face painting! The art on faces was so good and was completed in an efficient time to move multiple people for the large event. I would highly recommend this company and support this local business. read more

I would not recommend Magic by David based on my experience. When I first spoke with him about a month before the event, he quoted $300 for the magic show and mentioned an additional $75 for balloon twisting and face painting. I confirmed the $300 and told him I would decide later about the add-ons. He also asked for a $27 booking fee, assuring me that it would be deducted from the total amount. About three weeks later, I called to inform him that I did not want the add-ons. He insisted that I must take them, saying that his assistant would be present for the entire duration and that the package could not be changed. Since the difference was $75, I agreed. He mentioned that with taxes, the total would be $396,--which he had never mentioned before that their will be tax--and requested that payment be made in cash, Cash App or via Venmo, which I found unusual. On the day of the birthday party, as soon as he arrived, he demanded $396 before bringing in his setup. I reminded him that I had already paid a $27 booking fee, but he refused to deduct it, saying that the Booking fee was separate. I ended up paying the full $396 anyway. He had promised a one-hour interactive show to keep all the kids engaged. However, the magic show lasted only about 40 minutes, and the face painter stopped after 30 minutes, leaving several kids disappointed. Altogether, the entire performance was over in less than 40 minutes, far short of what was promised.I've attended several other birthday parties with magicians, and they always allowed all the kids to touch the animals. However, this magician only let the birthday girl and her sister touch the animals, which made other kids unhappy. Additionally, I noticed unprofessional behavior. The tissue roll I had refilled in the morning went missing, and I later saw it with the magician. After the event, it vanished (the magician took it away with him). He was also seen peeking into the children's gifts, even holding one of the return gifts and curiously looking inside, which made me uncomfortable. Overall, this experience was very disappointing. The service was unprofessional, misleading, and not worth the amount charged. I would strongly advise others not to hire Magic by David for their events. read more

Pay attention to the contract fine print. I was very clear in my exchanges with the owner that I was looking for a Minnie Mouse character for my daughters first birthday party. I didn't need or want balloons or face painting as the party was mainly adults...but that was the one package he had. He offered $50 off which was really nice but what was not transparent was the fact that the costume didn't come with a person inside it. The nice lady that did the face and balloons happened to have brought her son and he kindly offered to wear the costume...but it was not even close to his size and he had to come out with busted seams. I expressed my disappointment to the balloon artist who obviously informed the owner, who then proceeded to call and text numerous times during and immediately after the party reiterating the discount he gave me and how great the artist was...both were true but that was not the point of my disappointment. I had to ask him stop messaging me. Short summary - read the fine print. The balloon and face painting artist was really great! But you're expected to have someone willing to wear the costume you're renting...ie you're not getting a full character, only a costume (and frankly it was a bad rendition of a Minnie Mouse). Ultimately we booked this service because we wanted a Minnie Mouse to interact with my daughter and hang out for photo ops...instead we ended up with a 5 min awkward "mini" interaction. read more

Buyer beware!!! I hired Magic by David for my daughter's wedding in May 2022. I requested prior to the event two specific things I wanted, otherwise, they were the professionals and could do as they saw fit. I requested (1) a suit because I was told the performer was male, and (2) no animals. Although it was a magic show and they are "performers" I wanted the person to coincide with the event. The "female' performer arrives in black pants with cartoon-like designs and a snake, bird, and lizard. The issue was not the gender but the attire. I was disappointed by this and expressed this to David the next day my concerns. I requested some portion of my payment back because I did not receive what I had contracted to receive. I was told "no" because the bride expressed to the performer that she liked it and my guests engaged with the performer. I am glad my daughter liked it, but that was not what I specified in writing I wanted. My warning is to read your contract and be clear with them (in writing), if the performer arrives and it is not what you want turn him or her away and do not pay in cash in case you need to get your funds back. See "Shelby B" 2/17/2020. A similar complaint happened with that person. THEY PRACTICE SHADY BUSINESS GAMES AND IS NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. read more

Wonderful show by David. He did a show for my seven year old at her birthday party. The kids enjoyed face painting at the same time. He was very organized and professional and experienced. The kids were laughing and screaming and had a fantastic time. His use of animals was fantastic. The kids had no idea when animals would appear and loved it all. He used kids in his show which they loved. I got a lot of feedback from parents that their kid said it was wonderful. Well worth the money. read more

I was told for $275 I got 2 hours of face painting and balloon twisting. He sent me many images representing what his artists do/are all able to do and my experience was laughably different. Not only was the face painting awful- the "balloon twisting" was a garbage bag of pre-twisted balloons that came with the face painter. The birthday girl couldn't even get the balloon she wanted because they ran out. It was incredibly awful. I'm unsure how to add images here but I have many I could share. When I reached out (with pictures) he said the other 2 events she was at loved her and had nothing but nice things to say. I reiterated that she was sweet as could be and trying her best but her work was nowhere near the service I paid for. He also justified the balloons by saying "my balloon twisters twist x number of balloons a weekend!" which that's great but how did that help my party and the false advertising? My experience was absolutely awful and ended up over $300 with driving fees. read more

Booked a face painting for 4 year old birthday party. David does the magic not the face painting so it was one of his employees. She showed up on time and was really nice and professional. Unicorns painted were not as fancy as the ones pictured or the ones sent to me. Overall, my 4 year old was happy and the balloon art at the end of the party was cute. read more
