After a week, i called back and was again told that she would resend the portal information. I was under the impression this would expedite the new patient process. she also confirmed my insurance information. upon arrival, yes, it was suggested I arrive 30 minutes early to my appointment. i was 20 minutes late. I was prepared to fill out any paperwork. I was told upon my arrival that my appointment was canceled...the reason for early arrival was to fill out paperwork and confirm my insurance (again?). AND on top of that, the receptionist confirmed my email address and said that the portal information had been sent.. I searched my email to no avail....I indeed see no such information searchin my email. (24 hours later, no less. ) After two Nos and a "I will try to work you in." The staff are apathetic liars who don't follow up on Rx refill requests and have no empathy for the problems caused by their inaction. I know a lot of other patients who have been patients here as long as I have- if not longer. Dr. Deka had a terrible bedside manner and he was very rough. I had made it very clear to Dr. Deka and his staff that I had almost died a few years ago from C-Diff and I cannot have antibiotics with Keflex. The morning of surgery at Piper Surgical Center (they are great) the nurse was asking me question and stated there would be an IV put in me for the antibiotic. I ask what they were going to give me she said the doctor prescribed Keflex. I could not believe it. When the doctor arrived he tried to convince me that it would be fine to take the Keflex because he didn't think that was what caused me to have C-Diff (WOW) this doctor doesn't even know me, he met me once for fifteen minutes. Once we cleared this up that I was not going to accept the Keflex all the while Dr. Deka standing at the end of my bed never saying hello when he arrived, never speaking to my husband. My husband had to introduce himself. Dr. Deka tells the Med student that I never approved to lift the sheet so he could look at my belly button. Before I could say anything she pulls off my sheet exposing my naked lower body to all seven people standing around. I was horrified. Once I was in surgery the surgery was much more involved (of course) than Dr.Deka had anticipated? He put in mesh and basically reconstructed my belly button. When I woke up I was in a lot of pain. I was told I would have zero down time and would be free to go to work the next day. I went home no one followed up with me. I was in the bed for a week. I could hardly move it hurt so badly. My stomach was swollen and my belly was red. I called my primary doctor and she put me on antibiotic's this seemed to help but I was not heeling. I called Dr. Deka's office and his nurse told me this was normal and to give it time. I was wondering to the no down time I was told about before. I never heard from Dr. Deka. My husband and I went out of town for a week and I was miserable. We came back home and went straight to the ER where they drained the incision. I now have an ugly funky looking belly button and I am sensitive around my belly button.

They have had to fight for the correct insulin to be covered, for my CGMs, for my insulin pump supplies which seem to just need constant new prescriptions... they all do all they can, and deserve endless praise. They quality of care is better here than any other doctor's office I've ever attended, and with MANY other medical issues, including my spine, neurological system, many, MANY muscles- all of that- they have continued to work with me through it all- and certainly never once threatened to discharge me as a patient as someone else mentioned, so if that were to occur, at least right now, I feel would only happen in an extreme circumstance. Joel, aka Dr Salter, is excellent with treatment- both physical and pharmaceutical- he has prescribed me opiate pain medication, a reasonable dosage given my spine is messed up, and clearly needs it- many doctors will not prescribe them despite the obvious need- that alone shows he will do the right thing even when others hardly ever will- that's a big deal for me. I recommend this place over every other local clinic- which I have almost certainly been to, as it took me many years to get to Joel- I was lucky enough that we had a mutual friend, and finally I had someone prescribing what treatment, physical and pharmaceutical, that I truly needed :-) 5/5 and more if I could give it.

I called for four consecutive days, multiple times each day, without receiving a call back. On the fourth day, I received a call after hours, only to be told they were going to put me back on a medication that didn't work well for me. I was out of medication for four days, which was an unprecedented situation for me. I'm 29 and suffer from chronic interstitial cystitis. It was incredibly frustrating to call multiple times a day, only to be told, "We will send a message," but nothing was done. I was informed it would take too long to resolve my issue, and if I didn't like it, I could find a new doctor because Dr. Joel wasn't going to help me. I was asking for an alternative to a medication that my insurance denied, one that Dr. Joel had suggested and prescribed. There have been multiple instances that Dr. Joel is unaware of, and it's unfortunate that he is getting only one side of the story from his staff. I encourage you to check your recorded calls and speak to your patient care coordinators, who actively tried to assist me. You left me feeling stranded, and for what? Because I was upset that nothing was being done and that I was without medication, suffering from sleepless nights? This treatment is cruel, and I have never felt so crushed before. I hope you take a closer look at your staff, as I am not the only one who can speak to this issue. Thank you, Desiree, for taking away the only doctor who listened to my needs.
