He did a very in-depth physical examination with a ton of documented notes (mostly high tech Ortho speak). Then a series of photographs of the teeth and then digital x-ray series. The office decor is very cool with a upmarket studio feel. The staff are very customer service centered, polite and professional. They even have great WIFI and tablets to while away the time if needed. The explanation for the braces, to correct my daughter's teeth, was thorough and not full of technical jargon. The kicker was when we got to the finances. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for a 20 month program. I would highly recommend that you call and make an appointment soon if you have need of a great Orthodontist who is detail oriented.

My Daughter has been seeing Dr. Luu for 21 month's now…read more When I was looking for an ortho I was looking for someone with good reviews and close by. Dr. Mah was close by and so was First Impression. Didn't end up booking with Dr. Mah as they charge for a consult whereas First Impression is free! Yah.... I'm cheap (or should I say wise with my money)! But really, waive the $75, spend an hour of your time and show people your work and you are highly likely to land a $6-8k client! Booked an appointment with First Impression. When you walk into the office you are impressed at how new, clean and bright it is! The office is also lined by gorgeous photos...all taken by Dr. Luu himself! The kids are impressed there is an electronics area with various electronic devices. There is free wifi, a station for coffee and hot chocolate. I even laughed as they recently added a card stand with lots of different handmade cards (all really nice and professional looking may I add) all made by Dr. Luu's wife. It's a one stop shop! Anyhow, back to the review.... The staff are all super nice, friendly, knowledgable and service oriented. I'd have to rate it in the top 5% for service I have ever encountered, it's just that good! Our paediatric dentist's practice is partnered with an orthodontic arm so she doesn't necessarily deal with a lot of outside orthodontists. But she has mentioned to me that she is really impressed by Dr. Luu as he has sent her a few detailed letters (copy was sent to me too) telling her that it would be a good idea to bring my daughter in for a cleaning because her oral hygiene was not up to standards. The first times was maybe 4-5 months into the treatment and another time was a few months after that. After the second letter I showed my daughter the letter and told her she needed to step it up!!!! Glad to report she finally got that she needed to do a better job! I love that they switched over to an electronic appointment reminder so I get an email a week before my daughter's appointment. You confirm on the email that you can make the appointment. if you can't you just email them or call them to change. It's very efficient! It's easy to get/change an appointment since they are open wed-sat for the most part (sometimes the days change as he has an office in Whitehorse that he visits a few times a month). If I have to add a con to my review because not everything can be 100% perfect. I have had my daughter tell me she needed more elastics or a wire was bugging her AFTER the office closes on Sat, so you do have to wait until Wed which can be inconvenient, but nothing to move it below a 5 star review as hey, medical professionals need some family time too! Oh and btw, I did book one other consult with a highly rated place in Vancouver just to get a second quote. Walked in and it was an old drabby office. The orthodontist and staff weren't nearly as friendly/personable and their quote was over $1000 more than First Impression. So of course I walked out and ended up booking with First Impression.... and I'm glad I did! Anytime anyone is looking for an orthodontist in Burnaby, of course I have to refer Dr. Luu and his awesome staff! Btw, there aren't a ton of yelp reviews but check out the numerous reviews on google if you still have to think about it!! https://g.co/kgs/EjZ3uY

So. I was sorta upset. That my "2" hour back to back appointment for cleaning and X-ray (changed…read moredentist) was going to take "2" visits due to the fact they found it needed more cleaning than could be done in 1 hour. Now the previous dentist I had. They did text to communicate when I first signed up just before covid, but, either that employee did it on her own phone. or they stopped using the service they used to use to text me. either way. they would call me for appointments. and miss me as I was at work couldn't take the call. and when I called back it would go to voicemail. and they don't seem to email. so I got a missed call during work. and by the time I remembered about it and called back they were closed. couldn't recall if I had an appointment that weekend or not but I knew I had one in Aug...... decided I needed to find a dentist that texted emailed and actually answered their phones. so. why did I give them 5 stars when they told me it was 1 visit and now I have to come back for another hour of cleaning? the hygienist.... wouldn't budge. she told me it needed more than 1 hour cleaning. and she wasn't willing to sacrifice my teeth to accommodate my demands. she got receptionist in to talk sense in to me. and when that didn't do the trick they then got the dentist in. to talk to me. and finally I just agreed. NOT because they bully me, but because they cared enough to say NO, no we are not squishing 2 hours of much needed dental cleaning into a 1 hour slot. I am happy they cared enough to stand their ground. I really liked her cleaning pace. I didn't feel apprehensive because I could mentally follow along with where she was cleaning. she rocks! dentist was awesome too. came in. made sure I knew what the game plan is. when I come back again. and what we doing to make sure I stay on top of areas. Koodos to the guy who did my X-rays. it's not easy squishing those wings in there at just the right spot. he took his time. and it went well. I felt good I didn't feel nervous. And the receptionist team were amazing I left them figuring out billing for my two insurance there was something iffy about who to bill how much or something. Hahaha. Don't forget to bill me guys I haven't paid lol Thanks guys. See you saturday for my other cleaning session.

I strongly regret choosing this dental office. My experience was extremely frustrating and…read morecompletely unacceptable. Before even booking my appointment, I specifically asked about the cost because my financial situation was important to me. I clearly asked whether my insurance would cover the treatment. I was told that my insurance would cover 80% and that I would only be responsible for the remaining 20%. Based on that information, I agreed to proceed with the treatment. Then, several months later, I received a letter saying that I owed an additional $120. I went to the office to discuss this because I had specifically asked about the coverage before receiving the treatment. Instead of taking responsibility and trying to resolve the situation, the manager, Ellen, basically told me that they had many new employees, the employee who gave me the information apparently didn't know what they were doing, that person is now in Toronto, and I still have to pay the $128.80 That is completely unacceptable. If I had known from the beginning that I might have to pay this amount, I would have made a different decision. That is exactly why I asked about the insurance coverage BEFORE booking the appointment. I did my part by asking in advance. If your staff gives a patient incorrect information, the patient should not be expected to pay months later because of the office's mistake. And unfortunately, my husband's experience with this office was also very disappointing. He had a filling done there and was not satisfied with the result at all. His tooth continued to hurt and, according to him, the pain was even worse after the treatment, yet the dentist did not take responsibility for the situation. There is another issue that I find extremely concerning: privacy and patient confidentiality. The office called my husband and said that one of us had a dental appointment but they were not sure whether it was him or me because their system was apparently mixed up. A dental office should have accurate patient records and should handle patient information with the utmost care. Mixing up patients' information and then calling the wrong person about an appointment is extremely concerning. I have documentation supporting everything I am describing here, including the communications regarding the insurance and the amount they later demanded. Overall, this has been one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a dental office. Poor communication, incorrect information about insurance, lack of accountability, an unsatisfactory dental treatment experience, and serious concerns about how patient information is handled. I would not recommend this dental office based on my experience. Before getting any treatment here, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, especially what your insurance will cover and exactly what you will be expected to pay.
