He did a very in-depth physical examination with a ton of documented notes (mostly high tech Ortho speak). Then a series of photographs of the teeth and then digital x-ray series. The office decor is very cool with a upmarket studio feel. The staff are very customer service centered, polite and professional. They even have great WIFI and tablets to while away the time if needed. The explanation for the braces, to correct my daughter's teeth, was thorough and not full of technical jargon. The kicker was when we got to the finances. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for a 20 month program. I would highly recommend that you call and make an appointment soon if you have need of a great Orthodontist who is detail oriented.

Dr. Mah was close by and so was First Impression. Didn't end up booking with Dr. Mah as they charge for a consult whereas First Impression is free! Yah.... I'm cheap (or should I say wise with my money)! But really, waive the $75, spend an hour of your time and show people your work and you are highly likely to land a $6-8k client! Booked an appointment with First Impression. When you walk into the office you are impressed at how new, clean and bright it is! The office is also lined by gorgeous photos...all taken by Dr. Luu himself! The kids are impressed there is an electronics area with various electronic devices. There is free wifi, a station for coffee and hot chocolate. I even laughed as they recently added a card stand with lots of different handmade cards (all really nice and professional looking may I add) all made by Dr. Luu's wife. It's a one stop shop! Anyhow, back to the review.... The staff are all super nice, friendly, knowledgable and service oriented. I'd have to rate it in the top 5% for service I have ever encountered, it's just that good! Our paediatric dentist's practice is partnered with an orthodontic arm so she doesn't necessarily deal with a lot of outside orthodontists. But she has mentioned to me that she is really impressed by Dr. Luu as he has sent her a few detailed letters (copy was sent to me too) telling her that it would be a good idea to bring my daughter in for a cleaning because her oral hygiene was not up to standards. The first times was maybe 4-5 months into the treatment and another time was a few months after that. After the second letter I showed my daughter the letter and told her she needed to step it up!!!! Glad to report she finally got that she needed to do a better job! I love that they switched over to an electronic appointment reminder so I get an email a week before my daughter's appointment. You confirm on the email that you can make the appointment. if you can't you just email them or call them to change. It's very efficient! It's easy to get/change an appointment since they are open wed-sat for the most part (sometimes the days change as he has an office in Whitehorse that he visits a few times a month). If I have to add a con to my review because not everything can be 100% perfect. I have had my daughter tell me she needed more elastics or a wire was bugging her AFTER the office closes on Sat, so you do have to wait until Wed which can be inconvenient, but nothing to move it below a 5 star review as hey, medical professionals need some family time too! Oh and btw, I did book one other consult with a highly rated place in Vancouver just to get a second quote. Walked in and it was an old drabby office. The orthodontist and staff weren't nearly as friendly/personable and their quote was over $1000 more than First Impression. So of course I walked out and ended up booking with First Impression.... and I'm glad I did! Anytime anyone is looking for an orthodontist in Burnaby, of course I have to refer Dr. Luu and his awesome staff! My daughter moved to PDG when she was 3 because she needed some cavities taken care of and had to…read morego under and honestly it has been great since switching. Over the years some small cavities but they have been dealt with very effectively and with no pain. It isn't the cheapest option for dentist but I am reluctant to change because of the level of service they provide. When I was there I saw a Mom with her baby in a carrier bring her older son who was severely autistic, the staff handled it so gently and with great understanding, they must be receiving special training or are just naturally awesome.

From the moment I walked into his beautiful clinic I was greeted by the lovely staff. During my consultation Dr. Sharma was very patient in answering all my neurotic questions. He was very knowledgeable and had dealt with my case many times before. He recommended an invisalign treatment which is good because I didn't want a treatment that was too visual. I'm on my 10th tray and I'm seeing some dramatic results! I've been watching his web videos and reading his blogs about invisalign which are very helpful. The clinic can get really busy at times but they do a good job of not making you wait too long. He said we need to do a root canal now. So I made an appointment but I missed it due to a family emergency. So after taking the Antibiotic for a week, the pain came back after a month and I made an appointment to see him. I walked in the clinic, from his secretary to dental hygienist and the dentist himself were after me for missing the appointment and dr yu clearly said "I am not lecturing you but as business person I lost the sale and had to pay my staff. You should have given us 24 hr notice to cancel so I could have used that time and I lost so much money because of you guys....and you got the estimate for your daughters Invisalign and never got them done". We have been going to this dentist since 2002, we don't have any dental insurance and we have to pay each time from my pocket. For my daughter I paid whatever the consultation was but he quoted an amount that I couldn't afford at that moment so we never anything done from him or any others dentist. For my husband he said it will be cheaper if you just get filling done for now but you need a root canal as it would be cheaper to just have the filling done. He charged me 380 dollars and for root canal it would only be another 300. He didn't give me any price point if though I asked him twice. And now the pain I had gone through for about 2 weeks and now again I am in pain or a week. Who is accountable for the pain I am going through. He just cares for money that's it. He is just a business man not a dentist.

Came in for my appointment.. the dentist was rude and impersonable.. looked in my mouth for 2 minutes then said .. well we will have to do a full mouth xray come back in 10 days when I have time. I said I'm here now and they told me yesterday you would do xrays... and I'm in pain! He just looked at me callously and said I can't. Just like that. Lost a very good potential patient.. but after what I witnessed I wouldn't want this guy anywhere near my mouth Horrible.
