Over priced. The application process is as lengthy as trying to get a mortgage loan. This complex has gone down hill fast since the new ownership over the last year or so. They show you the nicer units in nicer buildings. But cruise around and check out other buildings on your own, you'll find trash in the hallways mid day in 100 degree weather, spills from garbage left leaking out of bags. Dogs urinating on corners of buildings. And the stench is disgusting. Very ghetto.. The gentrification of East Austin has apparently pushed them to Lakeway. read more

2 stars means "I've experienced better", I haven't because this is my first apartment. I was impressed with the facility and its location, upscale, modern, good amenities and perfect location. Staff is very nice and kind but not timely on follow through. I have to continually be a squeaky wheel to get what I need. The maintenance crew is prompt and caring. Parking is atrocious. It's so bad that people park in handicapped parking, designated spaces for accessibility, sidewalk areas, fire lanes and the unpaved grass areas. The owners, Roscoe Property Management, don't seem to care about the parking problem. If they did, I feel they would be investing in improving the facility. That of course would be an expense worthy of coming from their budget. Wouldn't that be a considered a profitable expense? read more

I lived here for 3 years and loved it until the last few weeks, due to Juan, an office associate writing an email on behalf of a resident who was new to the building and complaining about 1 dog initially and then 2 dogs. One of my dogs is older, 8, never had a complaint from any property and the other was a little under 3 years old who had been there way before Juan and and the neighbor and never received a prior complaint verbally or written. It felt unfair to have been a good / peaceful tenant and all it took was one new neighbor for management to not even ask me or have a conversation about what was going on just relay and regard it as an issue that could potentially create an eviction. Also the poor communication was evident in the office associate's lack of experience (resume can be googled) and frustrating that he was left in charge to control such a serious situation. Despite the 5 different management groups the property had gone through, creating unfair shortcomings as a long term resident, I wasn't inclined to leave a poor review until this situation. Your experience at Madrone here is heavily dictated by who's your neighbor since the walls are incredibly thin. The reviews only go so far back because with new management, they got a fresh start on yelp however the property is several years old and the number one complaint was the thinness of the walls in previous years. My first year and half (in bldg 5) was silent while my last year and half (same bldg) was so noisy and there's a ton of dog traffic which didn't initially concern me but if you have a dog or are sensitive to noise, it could be an issue since when one dog barks it creates a chain reaction in the building. After Juan's 2 emails within a week and feeling threatened with an eviction I now had to be worried about something that was the norm for most residents. Also there's not adequate parking, count the number of units and then look at how many spots are available in the lot. If you park on the grass, you're subject to bright yellow stickers and towing. The only solutions available are to rent a covered spot that took me almost 2 years to acquire or a garage that I was never able to obtain in 3 years! I would be put on a waiting list for a management team and then with the next start a new because the previous knew nothing about it or was incorrectly told the garage was attached to a unit (I guess their floor plans are confusing). If there's no parking then you have to find another building, at times I had to park at building 2 which is like the distance of walking almost a football field to get home! That's insane for what you're paying for rent and as a female at night will make you feel very uneasy. Trash valet sounds nice but can be tricky, you can only leave out 2 bags at a time for trash and 1 for recyclables otherwise if you wanted to leave more in the past there was a fine issued and to avoid access garbage you'd have to take it to the main dumpster (loading it in your car) which was always a mess (photo below). Amazon packages were often left at the office and was difficult to obtain them sometimes, once for the hours but secondly since many times I was told they weren't there and only to find they were later. At times the staff would do the courtesy of a phone call but it's very inconsistent. The a/c units were another problem, for 2 years the closets were locked and you'd have to have maintenance come in to change the air filter but then the last year they fortunately left it unlocked so I myself could routinely change the filter once a month like you're supposed to however often the office didn't have the size and it was just easier to go buy then at Home Depot across the street. read more

I moved in to Madrone apartments this month (March 2018) and the whole process was so smooth. JUAN was the staff person who helped me. He is so nice! He cares about the details. And I get the sense that he 'gets it' - that the apartments are more than just 'commodities' - he knows that they are an important part of the residents' lives! Thank you JUAN. And a big shout out to the other members of the staff! For example, the team that cleaned the apartment before move-in did a super job! I usually re-clean when I move into an apartment. But when I started to re-clean when I moved in - I realized my broom was making it dirtier than when I started. That is how clean it was! Wow! Great job Madrone apartments! read more

I've been living here since July 2019. The apartments are nice and quiet but the downfall is that you will find beetles and scorpions in your home. I have an infant and this is alarming to find them were my son crawls and plays. I plan on moving out once my lease is over. read more

I'm totally being targeted and i have been feeling unwelcome here at Madrone, although the views are drop dead gorgeous, the property manager by the name of "Kaylene King" has irritated my stay here to the point where I will be moving out in two months. I am so very tired of the harassment... including accusing me of have a pet for 5 months straight without presenting any proof to me other than verbal jargon... accusing me of being late on rent and placing notices on my door when the issue was an error or managements behalf... acting like they never received my check for rent in the USPS.... disabling my online option to pay my rent... deactivating my clubhouse fob... SHE IS JUST PETTY and should be a complete shame of herself as a professional as well as an individual. In my opinion Kaylene "soley" has been extremely unprofessional in all her mannerisms. she is not trustworthy or dependable... instead of listening to your concerns/issues she over talks you thus too busy trying to make a point rather than resolve matters. Again... if you are a minority PLEASE think twice about moving into this beautiful complex managed by a racist, petty, unprofessional "manager" I feel discriminated against and I don't feel secure here anymore. The company managing this property "Roscoe Properties" should strongly re-evaluate their choice in having someone like Kaylene King manage such a beautiful property. If you leave comments on yelp/google/ BBB she will go out of her way to make your stay impossible yet I no longer care if she keeps retaliating against me as i only have two months left. The world is to big and great for small minded people with ill intentions to be in the driver's seat of any kind of position of power. I have emailed a Ms. Carolyn Brooks from ROSCOE PROPERTIES in regards to a complaint and forms of discrimination that I have experienced since August of this year as new residents to Austin,Texas and with special notation to Lakeway,Texas. I have not yet to receive a response from Miss Carolyn Brooks as she is Ms. Kaylene King's boss and I do feel that the customer service is lacking very much so in this community. Unfortunately I have come to find out that if you are a minority, you will be treated indifferently here. It is very unfair to say this and I do not feel comfortable with saying this, but the truth is what I am aiming for - but I want to warn of whomever is deciding to move here that you will be pointed out and discriminated against. And they do not take your accusations or your complaints seriously. I am writing this review with high hopes that I will finally hear from a Ms. Carolyn Brooks that is in charge of this property in regards to discrimination, poor customer service, and unnecessary violations that has absolutely nothing to do with living on this property. Living here everyday I feel uncomfortable as a resident, uncomfortable in the sense of being a US citizen, and especially as a natural born American in this country. I am here visiting Austin looking for an apartment. This transaction won't take place until February 2019. When we went into Madrone Apartments, we were greeted by a young man named Juan. He was very professional ,kind and welcoming. I explained my situation to him and he received it graciously and said no problem. This way when you're ready to move you will have a general idea Of what the apartments look like and their location. He showed us 3 different apartments and I fell in love with the 2 bedroom. I might add that was last Thursday and we went back today, june11,2018 and again he helped us. I wanted to take pictures as we had looked at several apartments and Madrone was the only one we went back to see. Again,Juan was just so kind and helpful. After a month of excuses, multiple emails, lots of phone calls and finally a visit to the leasing office, I have still not gotten paid despite lots of promises from Natalie. Service request man came to replace the lights and stole my wife's apple Iwatch. No response from office after I reported it next day. Haven't had adequate water pressure for 6 months. They wouldn't come fix it after multiple requests. We live across from men who work as mechanics out of one of the garages who blast music all day. Front office didn't do anything about the loud music. I asked why the office space offered is closed and they say Covid 19. Nope sorry, Covid 19 doesn't close single person enclosed office spaces. They opened the pools and gyms though. Brianna at the front desk is no help at all and gives you the run around saying my manager will contact you. How about buying my wife a new iwatch, asking the men to lower the music, opening the office space, and providing adequate water pressure? I don't need to talk to y'all anymore. STAY AWAY FROM THESE APARTMENTS. There are nicer apartments across the street from here. read more

They believe in communicating with the residents via email, flyers, phone and in-person. They actually take the time to meet with and hear the resident's experiences at the apartments. Maintenance is very prompt at addressing service requests. We've only been here for 6 months but I find it so much easier to contact Roscoe Management office than the previous one for all our apartment concerns or issues. All the calls I made, during business hours, were answered promptly by someone at the office. If they have meetings, there will be a notice on the door and someone will still be there to let you know. If you have issues about anything they will try their best to resolve it or advise you of the best action to take. They are very sincere with how they deal with their residents. The property is nice and location is beautiful but what's more important is that I'm able to talk to people who try to give the best service possible for their residents. I am never one to post positive or negative reviews, but I am a review reader; I look to these reviews for insight and honest reviews to help me decide on good restaurants, apartments, schools, etc... Madrone was on my list due to it's location, and it's reviews. Although, some reviews were negative, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I never make a decision based off billing issues, maintenance, or any issues that are per individual basis. My decisions are based off apartment issues themselves. This apartment complex is terrible and disgusting! The location is directly off the road, and there is a light to exit the property that took longer than 5 minutes to turn green (for a left turn). Noise wouldn't be too much of a problem, due to the fact that the apartment buildings are built on terraces, in which they are each on separate steep hills down from the leasing office, thus to access the amenities this complex offers (pool, game room, fitness room, etc...) would require a crane, a hiking bag, and 6 bottles of water. I'm not lazy in the least bit, but come on the pool should have been placed in a central location of the complex, this is TEXAS! Sooo, pro: the staff was prompt and excited to show the available units. Con: Staff was not knowledgeable on what their layouts actually were, thus they had to look up what unit I was speaking of to proceed with showing. Once inside the unit, it wasn't the right unit and...this is why i'm writing this because I understand that this happens and this is Texas, but these were not the regular cockroaches; I opened the pantry and at least six dirty cockroaches fell and some started running from the pantry. That is the end. If you come to an empty apartment, in which no one has lived in there is no excuse for dirty cockroaches to be roaming through the apartment other than an apartment issue. Poor construction, pest issues, and less than knowledgeable staff, but helpful. This is an honest review, no one was rude to me, unjust to me, I just want to forewarn anyone who doesn't see what I saw. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Theres never any parking here, I have to park all the way at the top, people are constantly in the striped lines and handicap spots because theres literally nowhere else. Even with the lack of room they keep filling more apartments and not building more parking. When I first moved in I told them about how the painting on my doors and walls was messed up and they came in and painted just parts of it a completely different color so now my doors are patchy and mismatched. I told them the garbage disposal was leaking and they told me to deal with it a little longer. I complained about my upstairs neighbors stomping, yelling, throwing things, moving furniture around all throughout the night (6 complaints now) and this has been happening non stop for 6 months. When I moved in they said it had been professionally cleaned, a blatant lie, when I saw the walls were dirty and the bedroom carpet smelled like dog urine. If I had the opportunity to get out of my lease now I would. But unfortunately I'm stuck here for another 6 months. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT move here. read more

Owner/Management disappears after buildings fall in due to neglected plumbing issues. Tenants left in flooded apartments with black mold. Tenants were not refunded. Management was no where to be found. Offices were locked and vacated. Tenants hired attorneys to terminate leases and were contacted by credit collectors 18 months later. New management claims they have no records. Still no communication and still fighting collections on credit for fraudulent fees. read more

Maintenance and Staff were awful. I have never lived at a place where all employees were completely incompetent. First, they didn't even have a saved copy of my lease agreement for over 5 months and threatened to evict me due to their mess-up. Second, I could never get ahold of anyone at the front desk, even to pay rent, and they claimed it was late due to them not being in office. Third, maintenance took forever, and when they did come, they did a very poor job. I can go on and on, but the worst what when we had to move out. We were told that nothing else was needed, the walk through was good, and we even put in our 3 month notice of moving out. Come to find out a year later, we got notified by a collections agency stating we never did a final walk through with an employee nor did we put in our 3 month notice. These were all false, but unfortunately I had no proof. The apartment complex stopped taking my calls and I was charged $1300 for something that never happened. They never had records of my application on file, nor did they save anything, hence why they went through 3 management companies since living there. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I just recently moved out of Madrone after living there for 2 years. I miss it already and wonder if I've made a mistake in moving! I needed a larger unit with a yard but there wasn't one available so I found a house to rent. Although the management company changed 3x in the 2 years I was there, I never had any issues with any of them. Maintenance was quick to resolve any issues I had, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The views are breathtaking and my building always look well kept. I may be back someday! read more

When i moved in 2 years ago it was great. A care team had come to my door and introduced themselves. They had done fantastic things for the community. Dear new owner the worst thing that you had done for your apt complex was get rid of them. They couldve of helped you. It must be really hard living in another country keeping up with the numerous manangement teams you have hired. I have had the worst living experience living here. Do you know it took them 2 weeks to change a air filter? My husband called, i called, finally they said the request was completed. No it wasnt. I checked and pulled the filter out. Brought it to the office and showed them it had never been completed. I took the new air filter and put it in myself. There is more but basically office staff has forgotten about the cielo side. And btw pizza delivery cant find my address. Movers cant find me. Your address thing needs to change. Btw i told all of this to the people that work for you. That uncaring staff they didnt care. Last thing i will tell you is. My last rent payment i overpayed $729. I asked if they would help me get that back. I needed it. They told me by law i wouldnt be able to get it back 30 days after i turn in the keys. My husband called and the asst. Manager hung up on him. I guess this is how you teach your office staff.
