We hired Mardrid Masonary to do two block walls and four new slump block accent walls, and two partially finished accent walls, and to add some more slump block and add an extension wall . The first and sencond day of laying block went wall, (" I Thought") until hubby got home and started to inspect. Our wall was going to be at a slight angle so there were some step ups on the footing. Well on the step up once you kicked the dirt away found missing morter, missing block , little peices that needed to be cut and filled in.
Then they hired a two man crew to finish the small walls which took for every, always running out of morter for slump block. We supplied the block and the older man was told on several occations almost daily to use the odd sized block on the bottome rows and finish the top row with the larger uniform block. He would lay a few small ones or odd ones, and then the minute your back was turned he would lay what he susposed too and then start laying the larger block. A superviser was never around until I kicked the older man and his helper off the job then one show up.
We had this same issue everyday, where is the Oscar, where is Jiami, you would ask and they would say coming, and they would never show up. I had asked the older man about removing rebar,he said no I did not remove any rebar. he said no I cement it. So we had to have then pour cement into wall, but what did the old man do he started laying brick to cover. Thats when I kicked him off the job, then the superviseor showed up Jaimi showed up in a half hour. Then we find out the older man is a guy that the Madrids were helping out and and an alcoholic . When finished, I saw the older nam loading up brick. My husband called me and told me to tell him to put that back that we paid for it. He said I put it on side for you, I said no put it right back where you found it and we will take care of it later. So after that my husband told him the walls look ed terible wavey, wrong bricks used, one wall in the center of piller, than along the drive way. Then when my husband moved all the dirt found the fotting for the wall in wrong place was not next to the driveway, and then had to rebuild it, well the supervisor Oscar came and the old man rebuilt it with him her and then Oscar left early to take one of the workers back and the older man finished the wall and it was still wavy and uneven, So then Oscar had to come back again and they basically had to take the wall apart and rebuild it again. and have a New crew rebuild it and fix everything nad it still will have to be stuccoed because it looked like crap. Now we had the two large from walls done by their stucco crew which consisted of 5 or 6 guys, then had it done professionally and looks great except for the spot where the wall had to be moved and all the cememt chiped away to lay it in the right spot. DON'T USE OR DO ANYTHING WITH OUT A SUPERVISOR WATCHING THESE CREWS. (IF THEY SAY SUPERVISOR COMING DON'T BELIEVE THEM, AND DON'T GIVE THEM ANYMORE THAN HALF UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE TO YOUR SATISFACTION. "DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING' WHAT HAPPENED TO PRIDE IN WORK. WE ENDED UP PAYING MORE THAN THE WE SHOULD HAVE, WAISTED MORE TIME THAN WE SHOULD OF. AND STILL VERY DISATISFIED. THE PLUS I HAVE WALLS AND STUCCOED ONES LOOK GREAT. TAKE PICTURES MAKE SURE ALL REBAR IS THERE THAT WAS PUT INTO THE FOOTING. DOUBLE CHEK THE WALL AS ITS GOING UP THAT THEY DO NOT TAKE REBAR OUT, OR TAKING ANYTHING YOU PAID FOR.
