It wouldn't be a birthday month without a concert. And MSG is great for a summer concert because of the A/C. But while everyone else was seeing Benson Boone and Jay Z, my mom took me to see Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind and Fire. A time was had. My mom had a great time! I felt like things were orderly and the show was fabulous. The concert when on til almost 1030. A time was had. People were dancing in the aisles in the way out. I will always love MSG. History gets made here. I'm grateful to be part of it.

"The World's Most Famous Arena". So when my favorite rock band began to tour again after after a 11 year hiatus, my wife and I planned a short NYC trip to see them on their first NYC night. We went...it was glorious. Rush was founded in 1968, and became the lineup that became famous with the addition of drummer/lyricist Neil Peart in 1974. I attended my first concert in 1991, on their 'Roll the Bones' tour in Bloomington, IL. By this time, they already had 14 albums out, and I had a great time listening to their earlier work, especially their concept albums like '2112' and 'Farewell to Kings'. They kept touring and making albums until 2012, with their disbandment in 2015, final live show being in the Forum in LA. With the death of Neil Peart in 2020, the number of Rush concert attendances would remain static at four (so I thought). Well in late 2025, there was rumblings of a new 2026 tour with a new drummer (Anika Niles). So made a note to see if I could attend. The first tour date was set for the Forum (which is close to our home), but decided to use the concert to see something/someplace new as well. Tried to go to Toronto (Rush's hometown) first show but the timing (and price) didn't work out. So used July 28, 2026 as the centering date for my first time visit to the famous 'Garden', hoping to get tickets from a reseller site closer to the date. Finally bought the most affordable tickets I could get (section 223, perpendicular to stage right) from Stubhub for $352.56 each. Ticketmaster is the main ticket seller, so the transfer happened well before the concert date, without a hitch. My wife and I flew in from LA on a red-eye, and was able to take an afternoon nap at our mid-town hotel before walking over the few blocks for the 7:30 pm show. The arena is a cool sight...walking on the sidewalk amongst the concrete jungle, then suddenly seeing an iconic area in the middle of a busy city. We stood in line outside before they opened the doors at exactly 6:30. There were working escalators up to the upper section. Stopped in line at a concession stand to get an official MSG Rush t-shirt (they have 3 sold-out shows at the Garden) for $50. Sat down by 7. The crowd skewed older, and the vintage shirt I was wearing was one of the older shirts I saw. The sightline to the stage was excellent, especially since we paid towards the low end. My only small complaint was that audio for when Geddy/Alex was talking to audience was distorted enough for me not to understand much of what they were saying. The show started on the DOT at 7:30 (Rush has always been so respectful to their fans), with a celebrity video (this time showing superfans Jason Segal/Paul Rudd, and of course, Lil Rush from South Park). July 28, 2026 Setlist 1. Xanadu 2. Limelight 3. Far Cry 4. Subdivisions 5. Freewill 6. A Neil Peart tribute video 7. Bravado 8. Headlong Flight 9. La Villa Strangiato 10. Vital Signs 11. Spirit of Radio 12. 18 minute intermission 13. 2112 Overture 14. Distant Early Warning 15. Red Barachetta 16. Dreamline 17. Natural Science 18. Another Neil Peart video. 19. Time Stand Still 20. Red Sector A 21. YYZ 22. The Garden 23. Tom Sawyer 24. Encore: By Tor and the Snow Dog 25. Encore: Working Man. There was a 18 minute intermission. The encore was 2 songs, and the concert was almost 3 hours long, with no opening acts. What was clear was that the song list definitely skewed toward songs that had deep lyrical meaning, as a tribute to Neil Peart. Hearing Xanadu (maybe the first Rush song I heard back in high school when studying Samuel Taylor Coleridge) was the kickstart that the crowd needed. After the show, we soaked up the atmosphere outside the Garden on a New York night. There's just something to that, as I found out. Plus there are plenty of Pokemon gyms and stops, keeping my wife busy. As I keep getting older, I just appreciate events like this so much more. No longer a 'Working Man', now 'Finding My Way' 'Making Memories'. "Don't leave spontaneity to chance"...Neil Peart.

Tried out the Madison Club last night - highly suggest it. It's behind stage, but you get leather chairs and a dedicated bar and bathroom.

Husband is a Knicks fan. He has never been to MSG all the years he lived in NYC. With the first win in 53 years for the Knicks- it was an easy Hell YES to doing the tour. Our grouo was small so it felt more personable with our tour guide who was great! If those walls could talk - man! We got to roam around in a suite and see the view of the stage (they were setting up a Bon Jovi concert) THE BEST PART- was walking into the Knicks locker room and breath the air they breath lol. It was such an exciting experience for our whole family! Def a cool tour and worth checking out if you have never been too. Oh and we got to peek into the Rangers locker room also!

Awesome venue; I would definitely return. It's easy to get to since it's right next to Penn Station, a train hub. All the trains go there. I would definitely return. Went to see Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire. It was a very good concert. We sit on the ground floor, but now we find out it's better to sit in the stadium seating than on the ground floor. The ground floor is flat, so if there are any tall people in the front or using a camera on top of their head to record or take pictures, they would be in front of you, covering the stage. But I would definitely return again. We did not try any food there since it's NYC, there are so many better places around MSG. The service and cashiers are very friendly. So no complaints.

Madison Square Garden (New York, NY) - Knicks vs. Warriors Game (03/15/26)

I visited Madison Square Garden in New York, NY [4 Pennsylvania Plz] on Sunday, 03/15/26, around 7 PM. I came here because of the basketball battle of the coasts: New York Knicks (New York-East Coast) vs. Golden State Warriors (California-West Coast). Upon entering the building, there were many security lines to go through for clearance. One of the security staff members gave me a bit of difficulty with going through the scanner a total of three times and constantly checking my coat. Next, the building itself was huge to navigate through. My seat was located in Section 416, so I had to go all the way to the top of the building. Thankfully, I was able to take the escalators. There were a lot of food stands (standard snacks like hot dogs, pretzels, etc) and alcohol drink booths readily available. Bathrooms were also reasonably stationed in a fair distance. When the basketball game concluded, it was a bit of a hassle to get out. The escalators were completely shut down, so people had to take the flight of stairs down. Overall, Madison Square Garden is a fantastic hub for sporting games like the NBA, as well as other events, including concerts. Despite the slight hiccup with security and the closure of the escalators, I still had an amazing experience with the spectacular view of the Knicks vs. Warriors game.

1st night in NY. Didn't even plan it, just walking around saw a game was playing and got great seats. Nice friendly ppl. The concession options were a lot better than we have in California and the lines were shot bc so many lanes were open.

This was my second time visiting Madison Square Garden, and it just keeps getting better every time. We came to see Lady Gaga on her Mayhem Ball Tour, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The production was absolutely incredible--top-tier visuals, sound quality, and overall execution. The venue handled everything so smoothly, from entry to seating, and you can really tell how experienced they are at hosting major events like this. One thing I really appreciated was the staff and security. They made sure everyone respected the rules, but did so in such a kind, friendly, and professional way, which honestly made a big difference in the overall vibe of the night. The atmosphere inside MSG is just unmatched--there's something special about seeing a show here, especially with an artist like Gaga. Everything felt organized, safe, and exciting all at once. Definitely one of my favorite venues, and I can't wait to come back again.

NHL Arena #13 for me. It's an iconic and historic arena, very old, but they have done a lot of work on the arena to modernize it a bit. Lots of cool photo ops outside the main entrance. Seats still very small and it does feel very cramped. Feels pretty weird in person because it is very recessed lighting over the seats so it is kind of dark. Decent amount of food options available and bathroom lines moved pretty quickly. Good thing is it is right next to Penn station, so you can hop on a subway to and from the game or get a taxi in front of the arena. I'm not even sure if anyone actually drives and where to park if there is an event at the arena. Glad I got to check off visiting the garden off of my bucket list.

MSG - thought I'd written a review though apparently not! I've been here on multiple occasions in the past for sporting events, circus, concerts. It's certainly one of the premier venues for all types of sports and performances--anyone who can get booked at MSG has massive star power, it's a lifetime achievement milestone for most. Interestingly enough the current venue was only built in 1968, prior to this it existed in three other iterations in a couple locations around the city. The original building was constructed 1879, a roofless structure close to Madison Square Park initially named the Great Roman Hippodrome by PT Barnum (yes with his circus of the same name, which in those years was the arena's source of profitability) though subsequently renamed Madison Square Garden by owner William Vanderbilt. The second version was built in 1890 in the Beaux-Arts style, the third built in 1925 at 50th Street and 8th Avenue with a capacity for 18,000 people. MSG is the largest of indoor venues in the NYC metro area, smaller than MetLife Stadium in NJ which has about 85,000 seats and Yankee stadium's 46,500, but those are open to the elements. The Garden's 20,000 seats (as set up for concerts, 19,000 for sporting events), makes it larger than both Barclay's in Brooklyn with 17,700 and UBS Arena in Elmont which seats 19,000. MSG is the most centrally located in Manhattan and easily accessible via all forms of public transportation from train, subway, bus, bike or walking by foot. There are many parking options and ride share to a nearby drop off is simple too. My last event here was a Paramore concert and prior to that a couple Knicks basketball games. Will say for the concert, lighting and sound were terrific, I wasn't sure if I should be concerned when the entire level of seats vibrated as all the attendees were clapping and singing together with some of the songs, though I imagine happens all the time here. For the basketball games there's a clear view from every seat though it really depends on how close to ground level you are, to determine the details you can see.

Why 3 stars? Because my insanely expensive seats were partially obstructed. --- --- --- MSG was arguably #1 on my NBA bucket list for many years. I intended on visiting for a long time, but it just never worked out. This past August when the schedule came out, I was eagerly awaiting to find out when the Cavs would be in town. As it turned out, the two visits would be Christmas Day (not happening) and Opening Night. That was not ideal for me, but what sealed the deal is that the Cavs second game ended up being two nights later in Brooklyn, which meant I could double-dip. So I signed up to receive information on when tickets would go on sale, but nothing ever came. But I knew I would have the opportunity to get tickets via the Chase pre-sale, as a long time owner of multiple Chase cards. That day finally came, and it turned out, I needed some kind of a pre-sale code that never came. I had this date circled on my calendar, and then I frantically scoured for the code. Fortunately, a kind soul shared their presale code with me and I was able to grab a couple tickets. To my complete and utter dismay, two tickets that were literally in the top row of the building, cost $335 each. I have attended World Series games for less than that. That's ABSURD for a regular season NBA game. However, I chalked it up to a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list event and got suckered into paying it. Fast forward to game night. Gates only open one hour before tip-off? So bizarre. Every NBA arena I've ever been to is 90 minutes, and I think some even do 2 hours for playoff games. This really makes it a tight squeeze to get everyone in and seated. We get to our seats: near midcourt, but as I mentioned, the top row (excluding the wheel chair row) Section 224, Row 22, Seats 3 and 4. And what's in front of us? Some fairly newly installed add-on with suites. We can fully see the court, but 70% of the videboard is cut-off. Instead, we have to look at a small, off-center screen that's placed on the back of this eye sore that's blocking our view. I sit in this same area at every arena I've been to (this + Barclay's brings my active arena count to 12), and I have never encountered anything like this. I was also disappointed to not be able to look up at the signature MSG ceiling that you always see on TV. I kind of felt robbed of the full experience. And at that price, it was a tough pill to swallow. Lastly, I didn't get to walk around the entire concourse as I always do when I visit a new venue. Because we were on a tight schedule due to the aforementioned one hour from gates to tip off + the fact that everyone was doing the same thing, it was just too crowded to make my way around the whole thing. So I'm sure I missed a few cool things, but from what I did see, it was perfectly fine with some character and uniqueness about it. I did think the giant LED boards above the security/check-in area were really cool. They rotated a bunch of graphics and were a nice thing to look at as we waited to get into the building. And of course, the celebrities in the building is a big thing that makes going to a game in New York so unique. There were close to 10 of them that they showed at various points during the game. I just wondered what they all do when it's time to leave their courtside seat and walk into the masses of people. Overall, I'm glad I finally checked MSG off the list, but I never need to go back again. Especially not at that price.

MSG is central in New York City. Host of concerts, sports events and heck, my grad school graduation ceremony was held here somewhere. Parking is available at plenty of outrageously priced garages in the area and maybe a few reasonable ones. Public transportation is an option as well and Penn station is right next door. Entrances run smoothly with metal detectors, screenings, bag checks and one you're inside, you can purchase souvenirs, head to a lounge, get food, drinks or go to your seats. There's plenty of security and they keep the facility clean (at least, what I saw). I suggest you either don't buy booze or drink outside before coming in. Prices for alcohol are nuts. Whatever you think it'll cost, double or triple it. The venue size is nice and every seat is somewhat of a good seat. Don't get a floor seat at a rock concert if you don't want to stand the whole time. Everyone around you will be standing. The rest of the place has stadium seating. Exiting was a breeze, but bathroom breaks are very crowded. Try to get there before or after the break rushes.

I did the tour of Madison Square Garden, and it was a thorough disappointment. And this isn't indicative of our guide Jeff H (?), who, while eccentric, was engaging and fine. The tour will run you $52, and for what you get to "see," it just isn't worth it. First, you get to walk along the concourse and be told about some of the things that have happened here. Which you obviously don't need a tour to do. Next, you are shown pictures in an area "the public doesn't have access to", which is a bit of a misnomer. That is because they are in the area of the VIP suites. While us regular folks are probably never going to have the opportunity or finances to rent one of those suites, to say the public doesn't have access to them is, as I said, a bit of a misnomer. You are then brought to the sky bridge above the arena, which is probably 1 of 2 spots that are actually and legitimately not available for the public to see. And while a different and nice view, it, along with the 2nd spot I'll discuss later, doesn't justify the price or make the tour worth it. You are then brought to the arena floor, which we had limited access to because they were setting up for a concert. Lastly, we got to "see" the locker rooms. Which, again, I'll use the word misnomer. Because while you get to see the locker rooms, it's just from the doorway. You don't actually get to go into the locker room. The lockers were empty, so it's not like anyone could/would steal anything. So the view from the doorway had to do. Overall, it just wasn't worth it. Admittedly, I'm a Boston fan, so someone who is a New York sports fan may appreciate it more, but for me, it was a waste. And honestly, the only reason I'm giving 3 is that the guide was great. Lastly, I also lost out on $4. I had booked the Radio City Music Hall Tour for the week before, and I had booked both tours at the same time the previous month. But when you go on one tour, you get a $4 voucher on your lanyard for the other. So don't book both at the same time if you do the Radio City Music Hall Tour. And you can save yourself $4.

I'm going to venture to guess that if it looks more like a point and shoot camera you will be alright and with mobile phones recording video all the time you might be better off using that. Remember that some shows eject the patron if they see you…

This was a fine experience. I'm not really a Fallon fan but the experience of watching a 'live to…read moretape' recording was pretty interested. We didn't have tickets, so we went to the gift shop at 30 rock through the 6th ave entrance to score some stand-by tickets. We arrived what I would call late, at about 11am. If you want to get these stand-by tickets I'd recommend arriving as close to 8am as you can, because every ticket is numbered and they can only fit so many people into the studio (they will always try to fill it). If I recall correctly the tickets said to come back to 30 rock at 3:15 but note - if you arrive a bit later, say 3:30, it won't effect your chances of getting in - the most you can do to increase your chances to see a show that day by walking in is to get there at 8am when they first start giving out the numbered stand-by tickets. Also, while they say you cant bring in bags, I had a smaller sized north face backpack and my friend had a large plastic bag and a small purse. If your number gets you in to see the show that day, you will pass through security like at an airport. Everything is extremely orderly and organized, the only stressful part is 'am I going to get in to see the show or did I just spend an hour and a half of my day for nothing.' My friend and I just got in under the wire, with the guy behind us being the very last person to stand-by for this day's show (there were about 56 stand-by visitors accepted that day). You will have an opportunity to use a bathroom before you sit for the filming, so don't be concerned about that. If you're a fan of TV or of Fallon you might prepare a question or two to ask him, he took a number of questions from the audience. The funniest one was 'are you going to use that entire bit you just did' because Jimmy and Drew Brees spitting pumpkin seeds went on far, far, FAR too long, about 3? minutes, which was about 2:45 longer than it needed to be. Jimmy was quick with the 'no, that's going to be edited down.'

I cannot believe our seats moved during every action scene. Only downside was this couple sitting next to us who wouldn't shut the heck up. Without giving away the movie you do need to see thunderbolts (new avengers) before seeing this Spiderman. I was happy to see one of my favorite strange things characters in the movie. I didn't feel any mist in my seat because the boring couple next to me turned theirs off. I was so happy when the lady went to the bathroom I was able to enjoy the movie more. I recommend going to a higher level to watch the movie I was in D13 & D13. Next time I will sit further in the back because there were some scenes that I saw flashing lights in my side view. Either way it was wonderful for my first time. I don't recommend getting popcorn it will fly everywhere. Haha. While the ticket prices were high its worth it in my book. Your paying for an experience. The loud banging noises were super cool. I did notice the isle seats move a lot more than the inner seats. I think this will be the only way I will watch marvel movies from now on! The seats were clean, the floors were clean. I was pretty surprised at how clean the theather was overall. Don't come tho if you are going to be a chatter box. If you have add you might get distracted by the moving seats pop an Adderall if you need too! I can't wait to go back to experience scents to certain scenes. I'm definitely seeing doomsday at this theather. But I am gonna try to sit in row H or I so I can see more visual effects. Still not bad for my first time.

The theater was clean, well maintained, and the staff we interacted with were friendly and pleasant. Our seats were comfortable, and one feature we especially appreciated was the built-in trays. It's such a simple detail, but it made a big difference for our kids--they didn't have to balance popcorn, snacks, and drinks in their laps for the entire movie. The only downside was that the sound seemed a bit louder than necessary during parts of the movie. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but we definitely noticed it. Overall, we had a great visit and would happily return for another family movie night. The comfortable seating, thoughtful tray tables, and convenient Times Square location made it an easy choice for celebrating a special occasion.

He chronicled the history of Welles and the producer of this film and then unlikelihood of the movie even getting made, but that this film went from being a low effort pastiche mess and when Welles took it over there was a revitalized focus on the story and technical aspects of filmmaking. Wonderful staff and management, beautiful theater. The seats and popcorn were solid, but this gets a 5 star for amazing programming, fantastic atmosphere, and great people running the theater.

(Click on my Substack for more Baumbach thoughts including my brief interaction with the auteur, as awkward as many of his finest scenes). You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.

She has never been bowling before and this is a great place for a first timer. It's modern and very beautiful. Staff here is very nice and helpful. I booked this reservation last week and yes it is pricy but well worth the experience in my opinion. When we arrived, there was a guy checking bags and you go through a metal detector. There was also a girl that checked us in and told us we were in lane 6. We got upstairs, used the bathroom and got our shoes. I'm normally a 7-7.5 and the 7 fit perfectly. My husband is a 9.5-10 and he got a 10 which also fit great. I love that we had our own section and the menus were already there. We got a round of drinks and a sampler platter. It had mini mozz sticks, tenders, wings, pretzels and fries. Everything was delicious. There was a manager hanging around making sure things ran smoothly and our server came by to check in a few times. We bowled from 7-9 finishing our game around 8:57 and then went to look around the arcade. I used the bathroom before leaving and i will say it was surprisingly very clean. I also noticed there was another floor to bowl. I will def be coming back here! This place is modern and beautiful with phenomenal service.

I booked a birthday party online about a month in advance. Not sure why no one could find my reservation. The staff were using pieces of paper to look up reservations, and they all had different pieces of paper apparently. I had to mention my reservation twice - upstairs and downstairs and it took them at least 5-10 minutes to locate it, even when I showed them my confirmation email. The weird thing is, they were set up for the party with food and a welcome sign once we got to the lane. It seems like the front of house is not communicating with the back of house. This experience of checking in was annoying and could have gone better.

You can turn your gaydar off now. However, like The Lion in days of yore, this is indeed a live music venue and has been for quite some time. Jamie W and I were just trying to avoid the heat, so here we were. It was past noon, and the live music didn't start until 1PM. The space felt like a vintage tavern with a lot of dark wood wainscoting panels. We ordered a couple of their signature cocktails. Jamie went with the $14 Strange Brew, a caffeine-fueled mix of Jameson cold brew whiskey, Bailey's, and iced coffee (Photo 8). I ordered the $14 Start Me Up, a tart version of a Pimm's Cup mixed with lemon juice, berries, and mint (Photo 9). Neither drink had the potency we were hoping to find. Mine was particularly watery, and frankly we weren't sure if the bartender was trying to encourage a second round from us. We did manage to feel peckish and ordered the $9 Deviled Eggs which they well overstuffed with mayo, Dijon, and curry powder (Photo 10). We got served just as a talented young girl took the stage with her guitar in front of only a handful of people (Photo 6). Good luck, sweetie.
