Dr Betty has been solid Medically and treats Humans and animals with compassion. I've had bad experiences with new hires at veterinary clinics. They tend to charge too much and the young ones don't know how to talk to people. I do like the fact that they'll carry my animal cage in and out I'm handicapped. FANTASTIC vets and care team! We have had them gently care for our animals, squeeze in emergency appointments, and stay open late when our dear baby needed to be put down before another long night. I was a day late for my dogs,dental but they where so nice to take her and they where so nice

I ran into an issue with timing on my dog's flea, tick and heart worm prescription and the clinic apparently needing a heart worm test since he's near a year old that I didn't know about earlier... When I called to ask why my prescription was denied and to figure out how to get him tick medication (which is my primary concern because of where we live), the clinic manager was extremely inpatient and unnecessarily rude. He also had zero interest in helping me figure out how to close the gap between getting this heart worm test and making sure my dog was protected from ticks as my area had them all over. When I asked him what else I could do he just repeated that I needed to bring him in for a heart worm test without suggesting alternatives to the medication he had been taking as a short term solution like what I've sorted with the new clinic I called. He could very clearly not care less about it. I cannot possibly trust my pet in the care of a clinic that is managed by someone so indifferent to my dog's care and so uninterested in helping me solve a problem that was easily solved when I called another clinic after I hung up the phone with this clinic. read more

Hi, I am from out of state on vacation.. I love my vet at home, because my Yorkie Poo Tawnie loves them. But, for years she has bee suffering on and off loss of appetite, and lose stools. Tawnie was having difficulties again. I had just taken her to a vet in Maryland. The vet looked at her, asked me questions, and now, poof, the lose stools are gone, and she is eating like a pro. I only leave one star because years ago our journey with this clinic was wonderful. The pricing was affordable and the staff was friendly and compassionate. I now have two animals that I have to take to be put to sleep because of this clinic and one that had to be put down earlier this year. My bird had a mass on his toe dr lauer said it was a cyst and tried to aspirate it. No pain meds just toweled him. It didn't drain and became very infected. Back to the vet, he was toweled again and taken to have it aspirated again and again nothing came out and he was given antibiotics and pain medicine. The medicine she gave him on top of the trauma of being toweled and stabbed caused his health to decline so we took him back in where the antibiotic was changed and blood was drawn. I was price gauged over $600 in less then 2 months for no answers no real help no compassion a shoddy job infection and loss of life, the Dr didn't even spent the time to really look him over or explain anything to me so I could understand. I was very upset and confused needing answers and the staff took that as I should be "fired" from receiving care there for my animals. They felt offended by my questions so now my bird is dying and my dog who has cancer who has only seen Dr Lauer has had a massive stroke she can't see now at all and we've waited 3 days for them to call us back. After paying them this much in such a short time we don't have the money to go to UW so my pets are suffering because of them. IMO Zero care for animals, pricing had increased well before inflation, their renovations and new hire staff are a big part in the price hikes let's be honest, they don't offer veterans discount or even multi pet discounts for years of service , the staff now are not only inexperienced in customer service but have discriminated against a person with mental limitations I am autistic and had just been given bad news and a bill that I was not expecting, they need training on how to deal with life because someone may actually be rude one day and they won't be able to handle it I was not rude I was in shock and alone without my husband to buffer my reaction, they don't have their own lab it's all outsourced so the pricing is insane and the results are not same day, and I have yet to get proof that this vet is even licensed to perform procedures on avian animals. I am finding this out now after having put my other bird to sleep earlier this year because she said he had cancer and now I don't even know if he had cancer or if it was a money move. I do know that I have his body frozen and it has been frozen since he was put to sleep and I may need to have a necropsy (autopsy) done on him and my current sick bird once he is put to sleep to determine the cause of the need to be put to sleep. So my pets that have only seen Dr Lauer are going to have to go to a new vet to be put to sleep in a clinic they don't know by people they don't know and why? I don't know! Ask them why a service dog to an army veteran with lung cancer deserves to be turned away after having a stroke. Ask them how they can legally stop the care of a bird that is currently being treated for a life threatening infection. My suspicion/ opinion/ free speech FEELS like they made a mistake or they don't have the proper license and they used the reaction of an autistic person to ban them and their animals from their facility. This review is not to slam her, maybe they are over booked, short staffed, overworked, underpaid I don't know but what I do know is these animals deserve better. Maybe people suck but these animals deserve more respect. I also only kept going to this clinic because of the stigma around being on the spectrum and this dr for years understood my anxiety she was kind and thoughtful. It's not just me I've read the reviews now and I truly hope this at least helps someone decide where to go in an emergency. If you need a nail or beak trim I've never had a problem with them there but more then grooming I would look elsewhere or save the money and go to UW you'll spend the same in the end regardless imo UPDATE: it took a 3 hour drive and chance on a new vet who turned out to be absolutely wonderful! Within a few moments she realized the yellowing was actually fluid buildup! She drained his abdomen and used a microscope to look at the fluid and determine he had a terrible infection he was full of bacteria and parasites that we could have easily found out much sooner had Dr Lauer done the proper work up. Not only was my bird filling with fluid and literally drowning on the inside but he was on a cat dose of antibiotics and needed three times more then he had been previously prescribed. We still are not out of the woods yet but he's alive today because we went somewhere else! read more

The staff is always friendly, empathetic, helpful and welcoming. The doctors are thorough and that's very important to me!! I feel like they take care of my animals how they would take care of their own, and I know my animals are in good hands. They've gotten my pets in last minute, helped me out over the phone, and just in general are awesome people. I live across town but will be sticking with them. read more

Our pet was brought in Monday. We were not offered bloodwork, X-rays or any tests. He had been sick since Thursday. She did not check his gums or stomach etc. she charted she did though. Tuesday we had to rush him to UW to learn he was so bad by then he had to be put down. Their complete lack of care cost our dog his life. He was a pit. We believe the lack of care was based on his breed. They have been horrible with our German shepherd also. read more

This was a good vet center until the main Dr. retired. At that time it became chaotic, more expensive, fewer trained people. Most often when I call now, I get asked, "can you hold?" before they even get my name. They are much more expensive than other local vets but I realized that it's all money and not animals well-being with them. After dealing with unresolved issues with a dog for a long time, I asked for an allergy test and they sent it to a lab that makes money by selling "treatments" for allergies they might "find." They didn't disclose the massive conflict of interest and when I said I wanted it redone at an independent lab or my money refunded for that test, they refused. The explanation was, " other people think this company is all right so you should accept it. Absolutely terrible science standards. I don't trust anything they say anymore and you probably shouldn't either. read more

They do unnecessary tooth extractions. They let their 'techs' perform surgery. They broke our dogs' jaw during a routine tooth removal and blamed 'cancer' to shattering the jaw. However they had pulled over 20 teeth previous and never saw the 'cancer' that was so bad sooner. We had to put our beloved dog to sleep on the table. They showed no heart, no remorse. The vet didn't even come and speak to us when the secretary handed us his ashes. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

I am so glad they finally have a doctor who will see birds! Dr Lauer is amazing! She is also one of the most empathetic vets ever. She does not do anything that your pet doesn't need. I haven't taken an animal here in years because of their crazy fees and overcharging and decided to try them again for a simple office visit since they are literally a mile from my house. Big mistake. The fee for the visit was double what they quoted on the phone and in my case didn't actually accomplish anything. Go to the vet in South Beloit. It's a 1/3 the price and he isn't looking to sneak in extras. If you MUST go to Madison Rd then make sure to ask about specific fees and tell them not to sneak in anything extra BEFORE your visit. read more

We had to put our 13 year old dog down after getting less than stellar care from another vet. Although we had never taken our dog there(but had been there with our doxies) they got him in right away and were most kind. I also appreciated how quickly a vet was available for help instead of brushing me off. read more

They lost all respect from me today. Called about my dog And her skin allergies (she breaks out in a rash on her belly and no vet has been able to figure it out yet in the 2 years I've had her) but vets will give me antibiotics which help clear it up usually for quite awhile. I haven't had her there in almost a year because I moved to Arizona, but they have on record her skin allergies and that I've been in there several times for it and they NEVER FIGURED IT OUT. But they can clearly see I've needed antibiotics for her before for this exact thing. They were telling me absolutely not on the phone and I would need to bring her in...... last time I had to do that it cost me over an extra $100... you know what's wrong with her... why would I do that!? Literally just trying to squeeze people for more money rather than help pets which what your meant for? Complete disgrace. I won't be going back. read more

I am so excited that there is finally an avian veterinarian in the area! All of my friends are telling me how amazing she is with cats and dogs, but I am thrilled to have Dr. Lauer taking care of my birds! She is so good with them, like she has been around them all her life and my birds can tell! They feel at ease with her - and she with them. Dr. Lauer is very caring.
