Workout classes can be intimidating and having a forever injury that requires modification can make it feel even scarier however, the employees always make sure to welcome new people show them around. I find that before classes (particularly a more full class) there will be socialization between members/attendees and it's not just with people they know, rather with whoever is standing nearby. Of course no one is forcing conversations if people don't wish to be social, but it just feels extra welcoming. The instructors never make you feel left out or like a burden if you need modifications. Having done barre for a while, I'm pretty good at doing my own, however without signaling anyone out they'll offer and demonstrate different modifications for each move and encourage people to take what they need. It's nice to be reminded that this is your workout, and the way you do it doesn't have to fit perfectly into a certain look or move. They also offer hands on modifications, which you can tell them if you'd rather not receive them, but the modifications are never forceful (I think most group fitness people have experienced a modifications from a good intentioned teacher that was a little too zealous - that's never happened to me at Barre3). This is a great place for beginners, for people who are feeling a little alone on starting a fitness/barre journey, for regulars, and for all the in-betweeners. It's a welcoming and inclusive environment, that encourages modifications, all skill levels, and support where ever you need it. However, don't be fooled by all the niceness too much, because the workout will still absolutely kick your butt and is harder than you think - but it's delivered in a way that's always encouraging. Also, the free parking is a major plus of this location! You can park in the attached garage or street parking nearby. For the garage I use the call box and let them know I'm there for barre3 but make sure you get the door code from an employee before your visit, because you'll need that to enter the 2nd door.

The instructors really make sure you are having an amazing class for what your body needs, I love everything has a modification and a way to adjust to work for you. It's so nice as a member you have the option of on-demand or to live stream a class if you are out of town or just need to work out at a time a class isn't available that day. The in studio schedule has a great variety of times. Signing up is really easy on the app. Parking is easy. I truly could go on and on about Barre3. Your first class is free, so get your first class scheduled today, you won't regret it!

It was a birthday gift to my friend. She was curious about Ayurveda, and I thought this would be a very fun and educational gift to give her. The yoga studio was clean. There were a lot of lockers to select to put personal belongings. Dressing rooms were many in number. The bathrooms had a few stalls and two showers for ladies. Yoga mats were freely provided for us. I was relieved because I forgot mine. We spent the first part of the class learning about what Ayurveda is. I had already taken a 50 hour credit workshop in Ayurveda a long time ago, so this was a refresher course for me. Jo-jo was very warm and easy to listen to in class. Her knowledge of Ayurveda was extensive, and it was pleasant to see and hear another perspective of Ayurveda from a different instructor. My last instructor integrated a lot of chanting and Sanskrit in my last study of Ayurveda. She had lived in India and reflected her knowledge/ experiences of Ayurveda in India. Her workshop was a month long. Jojo's class was perfect for giving an explanation of Ayurveda and the three doshas. I liked her simple explanation of Ayurveda and the elements of the doshas. Ayurveda is the science or knowledge of life. Its main aspect is that the mind and the body are connected. I liked how she mentioned most yoga practitioners were Pitta. Pittas have a powerful intellect and a strong ability to concentrate. When they're in balance, they are good decision makers, teachers, and speakers. Who knew? After the lecture, we did Ayurvedic yoga for the three doshas. My friend and I were very satisfied and left Yogasoul with a lot of energy. The class was perfect. The yoga studio was clean. I was not prepared for the yoga practice, yet I was comfortable. Explanation of elements and doshas: The human body/mind consists of five elements; earth, water, fire, air and space or emptiness. The elements that combine to create us according to Ayurveda each have their own specific properties. Air is quick and ever-changing, while earth is stable and immobile. Fire is hot and light with water being the connector, the thing that flows. The last is a little more abstract. Space is the openness, the expansiveness in which all the other elements exist. The five elements combine in varying degrees to create doshas, or constitutions. The amount of each of the elements determines a person's demeanor and personality as well as bodily functions. The three primary doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - each combine two of the above elements. Vata is made from space and air, it represents body movement, blood flow, and how the mind moves. Pitta is made from fire and water, which sounds counter-intuitive, but it represents a body's functions like metabolism, digestion, and energy. Finally, there's Kapha, which is formed from water and earth. This is a description of the class and the instructor: The word "ayurveda" means "science of longevity" and provides a system natural remedies and self-care regimens to bring us back to our nature and facilitate healing of your mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda is one of the Vedic sister sciences of yoga, and these two systems create a powerful, therapeutic combination of holistic medicine that's available to everyone. Students should dress comfortably for practice and can bring a pen & notepad for any note taking, water and a mat. The first half of class will be lecture and discussion about the three Doshas and the major physical sites of doshas in the body; about the differences between "prakriti" and "vikriti", and a dosha quiz to learn your "prakriti"; about specific series/types of Yoga postures best for each dosha that help to balance prakriti. The second half of this workshop will be a master class to experience how a tri-doshic ayurvedic vinyasa class feels in the body. There will be variation options for the postures to make the class as subtle or as deep as feels best for your practice, so use any props you feel will support your practice accordingly. *This workshop is available for CEU hours through Yoga Alliance Jo-Jo Jackson, aka "The Yogi Bassist," is a Yoga Teacher and Continuing Education Provider through Yoga Alliance. In addition, she's also an Ayurvedic Counselor and Meditation leader. As a yoga teacher & practitioner, Jo-Jo's aim is to move students--and herself--on the path of self-inquiry in order to discover their highest Truth, and she encourages students to seek liberation from what is holding us back.

Cody taught both classes I took, and I swear this man was born in a squat. Dude held chair pose long enough to file taxes and plan a small revolution. I don't know if he's enlightened or just stubborn, but I respect it deeply. Class was wild. My legs were vibrating like an iPhone on silent. Every time I thought we were done, Cody was like, "One more plank," and now I live in plank. My arms wrote this review without me, and filled for divorce. The room could be hotter. I want to be sweating like I'm being interrogated by the CIA. I want to see visions of my ancestors handing me a towel. I want to crawl out drenched, whispering "water" like it's a lost language. Studio's clean, everyone's nice, and apparently it's nonprofit, which in this economy feels like a spiritual awakening on its own. Will absolutely be back to legally suffer in the name of wellness.
