My husband spent years trying to get me to go here , I was always reluctant to try it because I'm very picky with my coffee , I dislike having to spend money on things I will not drink . One day after my 5k run I decided to let him take me there to grab a coffee , there's not much parking it's shared with a real-estate place . I went ahead and grabbed a Vietnamese iced coffee , walking in the barista didn't really try looking my direction until I said hello ! . I seen him prepare my Vietnamese coffee and I immediately knew it was going to taste gross , they used cheap coffee and just no effort . Madhouse! In the middle of the street! A house where people like to meet. Madhouse is a sweet coffee spot nestled in the quaint neighborhood slopes of the San Bruno mountain. Straight to the point menu with the little extras to have a relaxing coffee experience on top on the slope. I ordered their white mocha and the organic Peruvian cold brew and my side piece. As you know by now I'm almost always going to have my side piece. Mug service is in effect and I was very pleased with that and it just went well with the whole vibe. There's nothing like a chilly morning with a cup of Java in hand enjoying the quiet surroundings. My mocha was perfect and the cold brew did its job. First time being here and ordered a cup of small pour over. Also love ordering pour over for a freshly brewed coffee. Staff was nice and friendly. Came here on a Wednesday morning around 11 am and it was half packed. The place is cozy and comfortable to have some work done. They have Wi-Fi and plugs which makes a plus. Love the nature lights coming through the window and feeling calm when watching the street view from the inside. I love of vibe of this local coffee shop because everything around is so nice :) Price is also just right. I will definitely come back for their breakfast next time and sit at their outdoor seatings to enjoy some more sunshine from this nice neighborhood. Finally decided to try this little spot after living here for a few years. I got the caramel macchiato, Asiago cheese bagel with cream cheese and lox, Asiago bagel with egg, bacon, and cheese. And a choc chip cookie for the little one. I came and I was behind one person. My liz bagel was so good and fresh. Bacon and egg bagel was good (just added Mayo at home) Cookie needed to be heated for a bit for our toddler to eat. Coffee was great and just what I needed. I don't have an issue with the coffee or food. My issue is with the Ambiance. Yesterday I came in for a coffee. Two people were already in the cafe, an older man in his 50s or 60s, and a woman with a one year old baby. The employee, a twenty-something man, was playing some "death metal" band on the system that sounded like the lead singer was deep throating the microphone, so a lot of mumbling - except for the occasional expletive like "F**k!" or "C**t!" For which the singer pulled the mic out of his mouth to ensure everyone could hear that important lyric. Sometimes I will sit and enjoy the morning there, but this morning all I wanted was get the heck out. Someone needs to explain that the music is not for the employees, it's for the guests. read more

We stopped by Madhouse Coffee on a weekday morning and man, was it a great choice! It is in the prettiest neighborhood at the top of a hill looking over Brisbane and the San Francisco Bay. It has a very homey vibe and is a great place to work. I took a phone call outside and admired the gorgeous surroundings! I had a delicious iced Vietnamese coffee and THE BEST bagel I have ever had. Seriously. I got the crispy garlic bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, and red onion and oh my gosh, was it divine! I had been craving a bagel and lox for quite a while and hadn't found anywhere good to have one (I don't live in NYC after all). I saw they had them here and people said they were good and they weren't kidding! It was super toasty, had tons of yummy cream cheese, and the smoked salmon, capers, and onions elevated it to the best savory level. My friends tried mine and were very jealous. Our favorite stop during a weekend stroll around town. Coffee is great, the staff is super friendly, and try to go above and beyond to satisfy your needs. Their food menu is limited for my breakfast expectations, but I can always fall back to a toasted bagel if none of the pastries appeals me. Huge plus for the patio where you can enjoy any Brisbane weekend day really. What I'm not super excited about is the indoor look, which is very old and kind of dark. read more

Found looking for somewhere new to get iced great tea and relax. Unfortunately, they closed early 15 minutes after I arrived today but the outdoor remained open. Not a large place, but it is on the only coffee shop around. This is fine as it is a nice experience. Cozy and relaxed is a good description. The weather is perfect today for hanging outside. The gentleman that took my order is thoughtful with the guests. The cook was working the small area behind the register and there was someone sweeping to close up soon. Clearly I am the only non-regular customer. The cashier knows everyone it seems which is welcoming. It is also pretty quiet on the street. It is a Sunday Morning so a place like this is the best place to relax. Got an iced green tea and rice krispy square topped with mini M&Ms. Hard to resist! Enjoyed my time. read more

This morning, I went into the count, coffee shop up the street for me because I forgot to buy coffee yesterday. I decided I would go to this place cause it's right up the street from my house and yesterday when I went to the coffee was really good. I came into the place and they were three people that were working. A man and a woman was sleeping in the yard and a young girl was in the store to help me. I said good morning and got no response. OK fine. Then she looked up at me with her eyes and asked what I would like. I told her she got it for me. No smile no thank you No. Have a good day. The man who brought it to me said here's your food I said thank you and I left. That is the only coffee shop in my little neighborhood so I will be going back in there if I so desire or feel the need to walk up the street 12 blocks which is what I like to do around this cute little town. That place used to be really fun and have art and a girl name. Audrey's used to work there and she had a lot of personality. It's not just my opinion, if you're gonna work with the public, and you want to make good tips, you have to have a little bit of a personality. Needless to say, the $10 tip, in my purse, waiting for her, went back into my wallet. The sleepy little town of Brisbane has a cute little coffee shop that sits atop Visitation Avenue, I have passed through many times when I decided to stop for coffee and breakfast. I ordered a egg bacon bagel. The bagels were the really good kind, the bacon was perfectly cut and the egg, scrambled. It was exactly what I expected of a good breakfast sandwich. I ordered a iced coffee with a shot of espresso. I love when places have cold coffee on hand and do not water it down by adding hot coffee to cold ice. It was exactly what I needed that morning and worth my time to drive up the hill for breakfast before work. I'll come back again, maybe for lunch. The only cafe in Brisbane and it happens to be my favorite cafe in the whole Bay Area (crazy right?). Good strong coffee, friendly workers, accepts credit cards (no limits), and awesome awesome outdoor space. Don't let the first floor fools you, because there are 3 levels of outdoor space. There are probably around 10 tables outside in total. Definitely a city gem! read more

My WAY over due report on my first personal experience here... This place did not impress me one bit. I'm lucky to have a local craft coffee shop in my city, and the only one TBH, but it doesn't matter if that place does not have great quality coffee. I ordered a cold brew coffee. It's really simple to make and quick to deliver to the customer. The important thing to know is that cold brew coffee can go bad from one day to another; it's that fragile. I never threw out a coffee UNTIL I ordered one from here. Personally, if you can't produce a great quality of cold brew no matter how easy and fragile it is it quickly tells me that you have absolutely no passion for what you advocate for; which in this case is your coffee. The Service was bland. The interior of the place looks outdated and difficult to focus. Listen, I live less than 3 minutes from this place and I would much rather take the time to drive a few more minutes and miles north into San Francisco and enjoy a better quality experience of coffee. read more

I am a huge fan of independent coffee houses. Yes, I appreciate the consitency that the chains provide (Peets, Starbucks) but I prefer the quirkiness of a stand alone coffee place. I've been coming to Madhouse for years. The coffee drinks are tasty and the food options generally pretty decent. But what sets this gem of a coffee house apart is the tiered outdoor-patio area seating. From here you get a nice view of the bay including famed Candlestick Park (but you better hurry as this iconic stadium's days are numbered). There is no better place in Brisbane to spend a warm sunny day than here. The parking is plentiful and of course free wifi is provided. read more

On vacation to see San Francisco, we stayed in quiet Brisbane and our Air bnb hostess recommended Madhouse Coffee. We wanted to try Madhouse because we like to support local and small businesses. The atmosphere here has a low-key, bohemian vibe but despite large windows it was still rather dark inside. Obviously a locals hangout but it wasn't busy when we arrived. Neither of the employees greeted us on arrival. We were second in line to order, one staffer looked directly at us but still didn't even say hello or good morning. Two ladies in front of us ordered coffees and one had hers spilled down her front and onto the counter/floor before she even got it off the counter. The barista started cleaning up the counter immediately but didn't offer the customer an apology or offer to help her clean herself off.
