Visiting Copenhagen and looking for a great breakfast spot then you have it in Mad & Kaffe! Small plate options give you a tremendous variety of local flavors. My family and I were thrilled with the food and ambiance. Enjoy

Officially one of the best brunches I have ever had in my life. You get to choose whether you want 3, 5, or 7 items from several categories including vegetables, pastries, meat, dairy, etc. When the food comes out (quite quickly), it has an absolutely beautiful presentation and is honestly way more filling than you would think. I ordered 5 options and would have been perfectly content with only 3! Order the mango chai tea. Again, one of the best I have ever tasted (and this is one of my favorite drinks... tasted a lot!). I fluctuated between a 5 and 4 rating on this one, simply because I thought it was a little overpriced. But then again, welcome to Denmark!

The eggs are delicious!!! I recommended the Buttermilk chia pudding The menu is an ordering card. Check off the 3-5 brunch items you would like and a coffee or drink.

Came here a few of weeks ago with a friend who's allergic to wheat. Sorry to say there were not many choices left for her - even the oatmeal has wheat in it! Luckily she loves avocado and healthy stuff so she was happy! We came just a bit after 9:30am and had to wait a little bit. It was cold but we were offered blankets while we waited. And the hostess was super cheerful and gave us an update of who was next whenever a table left. This was great as it added to the lovely experience we had inside. Our server was careful to check with the chef on which items contains wheat, and was happy to offer soya milk for my special needs friend! The setting is great. Very similar to the Vesterbro one but a bit smaller I think? Both are great venues for a special breakfast lunch because it's quite pricey! But you do get really good looking and fresh tasting grub!

Five stars? How did that happen to a cafe that doesn't serve anything Asian on the menu? For a start - the service is excellent. Fair enough that you couldn't reserve a table for breakfast, but you definitely could for lunch / dinner. I booked mine online and was met with friendly service altogether. There's this woman (probably manager of the place) that was constantly hovering around the place (not as in looking over your shoulder kind of creep, but more like keeping her eyes sharp and making sure you get everything you need). She also apologized to me twice for forgetting my extra fries, that's ok - that happens now and then, as long as you are not in blatant denial that you did forget the order as I have seen many waitresses done in many cafes. A smile and a sincere apology does help a lot to calm a (h)angry customer. Maybe it's just her, maybe she's earned five gold stars all the way in Diner Dash. Food - They don't serve dinner per se, since the kitchen closes at 19.00 but an extended lunch is more like it, after all this is not a "proper" restaurant, but a cafe that specializes in brunch. I ordered the tartar and fish fillet smørrebrød and the extra fries (that she forgot) after Mina K tricked me into it (long story). I was not quite impressed with fish fillet (although there were two pieces on the bread, to show that they were not being stingy, but the tartar was good. But you know what? FORGET ABOUT IT. ORDER THE BURGER INSTEAD! It's good! Mina got hers with fried egg (15 kr extra cmiiw) and that was good (I got to eat half of it). Meat was perfectly medium rare and it was surprisingly a lot better than some burger restaurants I have been to. ORDER THE BURGER! ORDER THE BURGER! and this self-proclaimed fries connoisseur approved the fries. Yes, the fries were good as well, crispy (possibly double fried) and thick. Perhaps a tad too much salt flakes on it, but hey I don't care. The dip was somewhat meh, but who cares. Lemonade that came in a jar (so hipster!) was also good. I ain't have a single complaint about this place. All sailing smooth into the five star land. That's just the way it goes. A perfect near ending for my crappy (work) day yesterday. We got the yelp check in bonus meaning we're paying only half of our bill that was excellent. I ended up paying 120 DKK for all the food overload (we shared the meal so the bill was also split in three), it was probably a tad expensive for not a "proper" restaurant to end up with a bill of 240 DKK, but hey it's perfectly OK cafe price in Copenhagen, and with good service and good burger, I'm not going to complain, especially because it's located in Amager - the island that had been quite dry of good culinary experience.

Wanted to find a place to get "Danish" breakfast during a 20hr layover and couldn't have been more pleased with this little gem! Espresso shot was great and the food was just fantastic. Though the portions don't look "super sized", they fill you up and gives you a boost to start your day. I recommend a visit when you are in town.

The staff here was very friendly and the food was delicious. I think the portions were a little bit small(it's more like tapas-style brunch)

The food here was absolutely delicious--I would definitely come back! I think this one in Ama is less crowded than the ones on the other side of the canal

Came for lunch two days ago and came back to enjoy my last morning in Copenhagen. I was amazed at the quality of their open sandwiches earlier but their breakfast is even better. Chose scrambled eggs with mushrooms, avocado with beet hummus, and fried bacons (couldn't resist it) - everything tasted healthy and amazing. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who's in town and will come back (hopefully soon)! Tak:))

We had a wonderful experience here. When we arrived it was full so we had to wait for about fifteen minutes. The hostess was the nicest girl ever and gave us blankets while we waited. The food was absolutely fabulous and worth a visit.

One of the best breakfast spots I've been to in years. It seems to be the style in Denmark for restaurants to allow you to choose off the menu and the price reflects how many options you pick for the brunch. Delicious scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and sausage. The cinnamon bun ran out as I knew it was a favorite so maybe next time! 9/10

Probably because it's hard to find if you don't know it's Danish name (HAHA!). I knew it as The Little Yellow Coffee Bar, however we know that's not really it's name on a map or google. It is tucked away, right off Strøget, one of the busiest walking streets in the city. When you walk in, you can order downstairs and sit there, or travel upstairs to sit at a table or on one of the comfy couches. I elected to have my oat milk latte and chocolate croissant upstairs on a couch. I admired the decor and sipped my latte while doing some work. Around dinner, it got a bit busier since they serve actual food here, besides pastries and coffee. At that point, it was a bit louder and less suited for work. So you could come here for either a meal with friends or to enjoy the calm vibes of a coffee shop, depending on the time!

We order three smorrebrod and we ate them in the Tivoli food hall. All were served on plates. The correct way to eat was with a fork and knife as we learned while watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil. The chicken salad was undoubtedly our favorite. Lots of shredded chicken but overall smooth and tasty. We crumbled the bacon to add some texture and that was even better. The marinated salmon was ok but we liked the nice pop of flavor from the pomegranate seeds. I may try to add them at home to my smoked salmon. The egg and shrimp smorrebrod was tastier. We returned our empty plates back to the counter when we were finished. Not completely in love with open face sandwiches but may try again on a future return trip to Copenhagen.

You can find Hallernes on the fifth floor of the shopping mall. We got there later in the day and there was still an array of toast options - some vegetarian, others pescatarian and others with a heaping of meat on top. We enjoyed the tartar, lemon & dill shrimp and the traditional pork toast. Each was somehow better than the next. Everything was so fresh which really enhanced the contrast of flavors on our plates. We liked it so much we contemplated going back and ordering more! We sat in the dining area to eat, which had a high chair available. We also got a window seat which had a beautiful view of the square below and some stunning architecture. We sat there for awhile just enjoying the view. When we were flying out of the Copenhagen airport we noticed this same restaurant inside one of the terminals. It's awesome to see such high quality food be offered in such casual but busy spaces. We'll definitely be back!

"The name comes from the appearance of the first bakery, which was a square building with alternating cream-colored layers resembling a layer cake." This bakery also serves breakfast items, brod (open face )sandwich and coffees. Here is a sample of pastry offerings in Danish: Wienerbrød: The general term for what English speakers call "Danish pastries". Kanelsnegl: A cinnamon roll. Spandauer: A pastry typically filled with jam or custard. Frøsnapper: A pastry sprinkled with seeds. Tebirkes: A poppy seed pastry. There are numerous locations for this bakery. I visited the location in main hall of Kobenhaven K or Central Station before catching my train to Kronborg Castle. The space was filled with people who were grabbing a ticket and then wait for ticket number to be called. I was indecisive and thought I saw a pastry with lemon filling. The employee who seemed a bit flustered told me that it was not lemon and she did not have anything with lemon. It turned out to be vanilla custard which was just as good. I also tried the green sprinkled marshmallow ball. She placed my two items in their own bag. I wanted a shopping bag which she snidely says "It cost 5 krone". Unfortunately, my New York response was snide as well, "I don't care". The two pastries were delicious. However, service needs to be as exquisite as the items you sell, unfortunately this location is lacking in that. There is another, smaller located downstairs from concourse whose employees are sweeter. Nok sagt or enough said.

Most of the baked goods were sold, so asked the attendant what popular item I should get. Probably wasn't a great question since most of the items were gone, but suggested a Danish with almond filling covered in chocolate ( Gammeldags Julebolle) for $4.89 (converted). Brought it back to my hotel to consume. I thought it was OK, very dense and definitely one would fill you up (couldn't finish it). Much prefer an almond croissant.

The mushroom frittata (I think it was) was absolutely delish- no rubbery egg taste, lovely mushies. I was worried about the carrot salad because it looked like it was tossed in something creamy, but it was quite good. This also included a really rich and thick tomato soup, and a small toast w/ goat cheese and a rhubarb jam, and some sweet treat- I'm guessing made with mascarpone. Hubbies sandwiches were good, though I've never seen mushrooms in a chicken salad before (luckily they were big enough for him to pick out so I got those too). Only reason to dong them a Star was due to the chaotic way and wait to order. There was one queue downstairs and two people intermittently taken orders. But, the people taking the orders also were making fancy coffee drinks and doing other stuff, so it was very staccato. When we were next in line, both people ringing people up went missing for quite a few minutes and then a newcomer went straight over to the 2nd register to ask a question, as if the people in the longer queue weren't waiting, and because the guys behind the counter were so all over the place they couldn't keep track of that. Then it turns out if you want to sit upstairs, you have to order up there, so off we went to wait in another queue. After you order, you take a number to your table and we thought they forgot about us, and asked a bus boy to check in for us and he returned with our food. Oy! Also: They do have English menus on request, but not typically on the table. Excellent food and ambience!
