I lived in Beaufort, SC for about a year after living in Atlanta for six years beforehand, then moving up to New York City afterward. You're going to think I'm exaggerating here but I'm not - neither in Atlanta nor NYC have I been able to find someone as good with hair as Shonda. I first went to Shonda to help maintain my undercut - I have SUPER thick hair and at the time it was to about my mid-back, with the sides shaved. She cleaned everything up and left my long hair nice and manageable. The second time I went back it was for a completely different look. I had decided to grow out the undercut, but needed a cute, short hair cut that I could wear down as the sides went through their awkward phase. Both times, I showed up and briefly explained what I was going for - both times she gave me exactly the cut I wanted and didn't even know how to ask for, and (without ever feeling rushed) she somehow takes almost no time at all to make it happen! I've never had any hair or makeup services from Pat, but I've seen pictures of his work and he's great too. He's fantastic to have in the salon while you're getting something done. Both Shonda and Pat are so incredibly nice and funny. It's really a breath of fresh air that you wouldn't think you could find in Beaufort. Being away from them for about 6 months now is just making me appreciate them more! read more

It is very hard to find a good hairdresser around here. I liked Shonda's work besides one thing - she always cut my hair too short. I have been trying to tell her for months that I have been trying to grow my hair, and she kept cutting about half of an inch every time! So, last time I had to hold my front hair so she would not cut it. Today I came just for undercut and a little trim, and I told Shonda - "Please do not touch my front just do my back." She turns the chair away from the mirror, so people could watch TV, so I could not see what she was doing. DONE - and I see almost an inch cut off my front hair. That was it. I actually almost cried at home looking in the mirror. She had another customer waiting and out of respect I did not say anything negative. When I paid online through the system she uses it asked me for a review. I left an honest review. She texted me right away being unhappy about my review, and she justified herself instead of saying sorry for he messed up haircut. On top of it she asked me to find another hairdresser. No refund. One of my friends I referred to her had the same issue. She messed up her hair, and refused to fix it and do her hair anymore. Also, I paid toooooo much for coloring my hair, and ended up with something I did not asked for. read more

Color Me RAD is THE place to go for a unique hair cut and color. They also do nails and make up. I went in for a haircut and all over color. I had been following their Facebook page and was amazed at the awesome cuts and colors they posted of their clients. I just had to check it out. Pricing was not bad either. The salon is 80s inspired - 80s music playing, 80s decor, and a bold CMYK color scheme, I loved every aspect of it. I was greeted by Patrick who was the nicest guy. He was friendly, hospitable and did a great job with my shampoo. My appointment was with owner and stylist Shonda. She was also very nice and was very serious about her work. I told her I wanted bright red, but not too "Ronald McDonald red", so she mixed a bright red with some copper tones in it for highlights. Beautiful! And then I told her I wanted to chop off my long hair but not sure how short I wanted it, so I gave her stylistic freedom and I ended up with a gorgeous cut that I didn't even know I wanted! I was VERY pleased with my visit and hope to go back soon and maybe try another color - pink? I live near Savannah, but the drive out to Beaufort is well worth it. Also, I don't like getting my nails done, but the nail artist there is phenomenal. She was working on a client's nails and they were shaped like ice cream cones! From what I've seen on their FB page, she does some pretty cool work. read more

Omg I cant say enough good things about Shonda!!! I move every two years (due to being active duty military) and finding a new stylist is always a source of anxiety. After hearing several good things about Shonda, I decided to give it a shot. I've lived all over the country having recently left San Diego area and Shonda is by far one of the most innovative , creative , personable stylists I've ever had!!! She transformed my hair and even provided me with several product recommendations to bring the life back to my recently lighted hair! Although I have had good service for a sufficient amount of time, my 2 most recent interactions left much to be desired. As a loyal client, Shonda was well aware of the color I usually get and want, and failed to provide that or any other option until after she had already started on my hair. Nearly every appointment I have had has been moved back, which is incredibly inconvenient, as it has affected other plans I have had. However, my most recent visit left me the most disappointed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed to make an appointment as soon as possible to change my hair color. When I called through StyleSeat (which is what Shonda requests you use to make an appointment) no one answered and my voicemail, in which I clearly identified myself, received no call back for 5 days. When I went in person to book an appointment, I felt largely dismissed and was unable to see Shonda. Pat was rude and condescending and quickly shooed me away, but I was promised a call to book an appointment. That was over a week ago. Since then, I have noticed openings that Shonda has posted about on her social media sites, but have received no contact whatsoever. Though I enjoyed the services I received for the majority of my time, there were too many detractors for me to recommend the salon to any one else; discrepancies and time, price fluctuation, and fulfillment for what I actually asked for. read more

When Shonda's shop 1st opened she was kind and respectful to all her clients. I guess over time she got a bit unappreciative. I stopped going because I was tired of leaving with a drenched back due to Pat & coloring all over my neck, ears & forehead compliments of Shonda. In my mind I paid way too much money to be leaving with Coloring all over me. I also grew tired of having to wait 30 minutes and one time even more till she got to me. Definitely overbooking on her part . My time is just as valuable as hers but it was definitely not respected. I always have the courtesy to call when I am going to be a few minutes late so she should do the same. The problem is she's not very great except in Beaufort she is phenomenal because there is very little good salons there. Especially ones who you want to look a little different are nonexistent in that area so she will continue to thrive. Hopefully her attitude changes read more
