I was new to Beaufort and Bangs seemed like an upscale Salon and was recommended. I was first asked if I "wanted my hair washed" which was rushed. I've never been to a salon when they didn't automatically wash your hair. I'm from the North I had checked out prices and was charged. I asked for a chin length Bob with a few layers. The result was nothing like I. Had asked for. Absolutely no style. Don't mind spending but worst cut ever. End of day and obvious she was hurried to leave. Ps. I've always been very pleased with the service I've gotten at Bangs. Receptionists are friendly and Brodie does a fantastic job!

It's unfortunate that I have to downgrade this salon, but my recent experiences have been dismal. First, the remodeling and reconfiguration of this salon is so not client friendly. You walk in and there are no seats. The receptionist just says "OK I've got u checked in". No direction given on where to sit and the lone club chair around the corner was already occupied. My usual stylist was booked, and I was in desperate need of a haircut so I opted to book with one that was available. When the stylist led me to the chair I showed her the photo of the haircut I wanted. I could clearly see her reaction in the mirror's reflection, and it was making me extremely uncomfortable. She told me she doesn't know how to do shorter hair cuts. I'm a 62 year old woman, and I have NEVER had such a response from a stylist. EVER. First, if she is so inexperienced why is she part of the team in the first place? Second, if you are using stylists with inadequate experience, then make sure you match the client with the right person when a reservation is made. My normal stylist tried to fill me in but the wait time kept increasing. I wasted over an hour there while my husband and two dogs were waiting on me as they were my ride home. I finally said "uncle". I could not and would not waste any more of my time. The staff rescheduled me for another cut five days later. I got a call soon after saying there was an earlier opening. I welcomed it. I will not name the stylists involved with this experience as I still appreciate most of the services I received at Bangs. When I arrived for my rescheduled appointment, I had very clear photos of the cut I was after. I had plenty of length to do it. I was seriously in awe about what I ended up with - it was way too short - and did not resemble the photo at all. Sorry C but this was a big fail. I didn't feel attractive at all. As a senior citizen, I ended up sporting an elementary school girl look that did nothing for my self esteem. All I can say, is thank goodness hair grows back. I don't want anyone seeing me like this. I was going to post photos but it's too humiliating. Things didn't start out well. My stylist kept telling me how dark my roots were like it was a big problem. I wish I had left at that point. I went blonde a month ago at another salon. I came here just to maintain. I now have three different colors going on in my hair- yellow, lavender, and white. It's actually perfect for Easter. So, yes, I have three different colors going on right now, and not in a cool hip way, more like in a dementia way. I called and talked to them, and then I went into the salon and spoke with the front desk, who was useless. The average age of the people working here is like 12. I give up. (Although I know that if any of THEM were walking around with homeless drug-addict third-world truck-stop grandmother-prostitute hair like I am right now, they would not be happy at all). I asked for a refund. They said they wouldn't give me any money back, but they could try to "fix" it. Uh, yes... no, I won't be going back. Oh, she also blamed ME for the situation because during the appointment my son's school called, and I had to leave to pick him up without getting my hair blow dried. She said that the stylist didn't get a chance to notice the disastrous state of my hair because I left without a blow dry. Uh huh. Incompetent and blaming the paying customer for your own incompetence. This seems to be the new American work ethic. This is why our infrastructure is crumbling, people. Zero standards. Fortunately I have an appointment with my previous salon, who is excellent, and we will share a good laugh over it, I'm sure. (Funny, not funny) If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Thank God I don't have a job interview or a commitment hearing or some other event where I have to appear sane to strangers lined up in the next few days- because my hair just screams "Whatever happened to Baby Jane?" It is GHASTLY. I feel bad not posting photos, but out of respect and compassion for the victim, I think a certain degree of privacy should be observed at this time. Thank you. read more

Very busy and noisy place. But I got a good cut and style. A little more casual and busy than my norm. But I would go back.

I booked an appointment online for a cut and style and was told to arrive to the appointment 10 minutes earl. I get there (early) and wait in the sitting area for 30 minutes. I go up to the reception area to make sure I was checked in. The lady sitting up front goes to check with the stylist and after a few minutes, the stylist comes to speak to me and get started. she asked if I'm there for blowout. I let her know that I'm here for a cut and style. The stylist says "oh well I only have 10 minutes before a client comes in so you'll have to come in later if you want that." I patiently waited just to be told I'm not a client and that my time is not respected. I do understand mistakes can happen, especially with online systems, but the absolute disrespect was unacceptable. read more

Im usually not one to do this, but after getting my hair done in Miami, and paying what i did to fix one women's best attempt i thought id spare women in Beaufort the expensive mistake you may be about to make. Bangs salons cheerful atmosphere, product shop, and cute decor would make you think you've found an excellent salon in little Beaufort. Run while you can!! As i was told by the OWNER herself "if you don't like it the door is right their" After insulting my own mother, a successful salon owner. Lovely. Unfortunately, the stylists "training" the salon budgets would better serve to clean up our beautifully trashed marshes. One women's balayage, who was to be highly recommend, compared to a straight mans masterpiece. Ive even spared y'all the first picture i took after walking out of my $200+ "balayage". I'm intrigued when a a stylist considers a clients request of a full head of foil highlights transitions to a unknowledgeable color process. For future reference stylists.. if you know in your heart you can't achieve something. Wouldn't it had been in the best interest of everyone breathing in that salon, to cough up a reference to someone who was fully capable of achieving something as beautiful to the picture on the right? Green and blue hair isn't very flattering for my complexion, and badly hurt my confidence every time i looked in the mirror, and as well in my personal life. Nothing was more upsetting to top it off when i went to destress at my best friends only to have their mom confide in me of the mocking, and gossip that was spoken openly in the salon of what they did to my hair. Over all analysis, Bangs salon is disrespectful, rude, and will only want you money. Southern hospitality does not have a home here, but very good masks on the lips and face of every women working there do. If you are blonde, RUN away from this salon. I know its a hike, but if you can't make it to Trini, in Miami. Charlestons Blow Dry Bar did a beautiful job on my lovely retired mothers hair, and her products offered as just as wonderful. I went to another independent lady out in town and my hair ended up yellow all over with block lines across my Hair and straw like feeling from harsh products when I asked for some natural highlights, but still wanted some dimension. Blake at Bangs did an awesome job of fixing me by pulling some of my natural color back through via low light and blended the blonde so it didn't look like blocks of color. This is my go to place in Beaufort. Alexis cuts and dyes my hair. She does a great job and is quick. I had another girl give me a trim there, which turned out good, but I can't remember her name. I think the prices are normal for the the type of salon it is, and are similar to what I would expect to pay. read more

Went in today as a walk in and was offered something to drink right away. Not even 2 sips into my Chardonnay, a sweet Blake called my name, introduced herself, and brought me back to her station and gave me a haircut and style. Blake was super friendly and sweet!
