Orchid Salon is hands down the best place for haircuts in Beaufort! I've tried two other salons--one on Boundary Street and another in Port Royal--both left my hair looking choppy and uneven, like a bad Dora the Explorer cut. It's been difficult to find a stylist who is familiar with Hispanic hair. Then I found Ashley Bellnier. I completely trust her with my hair; she's truly talented. Let me tell you! Becca did my hair for the first time today for my ball and I was genuinely surprised with how amazing it looks and how fast she did it. Also I am a super awkward person I don't talk much and the climate/vibe and Becca made it super easy to talk, made me feel welcome and not so nervous for getting my hair done for the first time! Went here a few months ago looking for a haircut with long layers and also a balayage. This was the first time I have left a hair salon in tears. My layers were not blended at all, but the color was even worse. I was left with blunt lines of blonde instead of a low maintenance look. I called the owner and she basically told me it was my fault because I have thick hair and it's hard to work with. Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Even after she "fixed" it a second time I was still so unhappy with it. read more

I was a client at the salon and went back for a second time to go from blonde to brunette because I have a wedding in January. I spoke to the stylist before my appointment and let her know and she said we would have to "fill" my hair with reds and oranges before dying it brown. My hair was not filled with reds and oranges, so it was filled incorrectly and it resulted in a green hue in certain lighting. It also was four different colors. The stylist said that she "should have filled my hair with something else" while I was sitting with that in my hair. Whatever that was had my hair purple before putting something else in my hair to make it brown. After I went home I saw the green hue I let the stylist know, she spent me a photo she took of my hair that day, I had an appointment scheduled for 12/14 but in the meantime someone else fixed my hair because I was so embarrassed. The person who fixed my hair said it definitely had a green hue and because I had to get all that processing done to my hair, it is now really dry. I called to let them know I was cancelling the appointment and why, the manager Abby spoke to me and asked me if I was asking for a refund. I said not really, I just wanted to know what exactly was put on my hair and I hope this doesn't happen to someone else. A week later, I called back after not being contacted back and the owner Amy reached out within the hour and was rude and kept interrupting me when I tried to tell her what happened. She told me "I don't care if you have anxiety or if you have anxiety for the rest of your life" I never said anything about having anxiety? Even if I did, you don't say that to someone. She kept saying she wasn't giving me a refund but I told her that wasn't even what I wanted and she said it was. I kept asking her if I can speak and tell her what happened but she said no and kept talking over me. I just want to know what happened to my hair and what was put on it. Maybe a conditioning treatment would have been nice, but a refund won't fix my hair. My hair is messed up for my wedding. I don't care about the money read more

I love Orchid Salon, my stylist Morgan and the Aveda product line. When you walk into the salon you are greeted by a friendly and kind receptionist that offers you a drink and a smock. My stylIst, Morgan, is energetic and always happy to see me. She is not only knowledgeable and gifted in her field but excited about her job. I love the way she approaches my hair cut, always discussing my style and color. As I wait for my color to set, I enjoy a complimentary hand massage and when Morgan washes my hair I enjoy a scalp massage. Every six months I get a Keratin treatment and I am extremely pleased with the results. Orchid Salon is wonderful. I am so happy I found it. read more

I recently went to Becca for highlights and a cut and style. She is an artist! I have also gone to Becca for Manicures and Pedicures at the Salon also and those are top notch! She masterfully blended and matched the current color of my golden blonde highlights and updated my style. The salon uses organic product that is touted to be gentle on your hair. I am so pleased with the way that my hair came out. It looks very natural and pretty and is well conditioned even after color application. Having recently moved to the area, this was my first color and cut after 10+ years with the same stylist from my old hometown. I am a big fan of Becca and Orchid Salon! read more

I have been a regular here for the past year. I kept coming back, even when the stylist would consistently look at herself in the mirror when talking to me, because the hair cut turned out the way I like it. That changed when she insisted on using a procedure that I told her does not work with my hair. She pushed the issue and I trusted her. Bad idea. My haircuts stinks now. On top ofthat, I tried talking to the stylist about my dissatisfaction and she got defensive, stating that she is an advanced hair cutter and inferring that my dissatisfaction is a result of my ignorance about hair. I was surprised at how willing she was to talk down to her customers, so she doesn't have deal with this one any more. read more

I love love love this Salon!! ..I love Aveda products and hair coloring which is ultimately why I chose the salon but once I started working with Paige a stylist here...a sweetheart..:)...and getting regular hair color service...I found throughout observation and in addition to having to use other stylist sometimes here...that everyone on the staff here is extremely knowledgeable about hair and they know how to keep your hair healthy and what coloring would work with you..etc.. etc... they even helped my husband find a solution with his hair style and set him up with hair products to thicken his hair!! And my daughter has seen Paige to get her hair cut and growing in a even order, now....(thanks to a horrible experience with a stylist at a less than desirable previous salon I took her to)... so long to the short I would and I do refer anyone I know or someone who ask me where I get my hair done and is looking for a friendly , courteous, knowledgeable with hair and how to keep it healthy and help with finding the style/color etc that's right for each client..and just an over all enjoyable salon experience I would not recommend anywhere else besides Orchid Salon!! ..I come all the way from Hilton Head for them ... It took me almost a year to find a place where I love getting my hair done and I'm so happy I found Orchid. I've never had a problem getting an appointment even last minute. They even cut my daughter's very long hair into a very short bob and it looks fantastic. My daughter LOVES her hair and so do I...although I wish she had kept it long :) I've never had an issue with their customer service and I always get treated like a VIP client. This salon first of all was beautiful. Very clean and well manicured! They have a huge line of aveda products. My hair stylist was ashleigh and she did an amazing job!! I had dyed brown hair with awful caramel highlights and wanted white blonde highlights (my roots are blonde) and that's exactly what I got. They all took a care in my hair and made sure it was going to stay healthy and gave great advice on how to do so. They even stayed past their closing time to make sure my hair turned out okay. This was my first time there and I will most certainly be back!! I love this salon and my hair stylist! It has taken a long time to find such a great place. My 5yr old daughter decided to cut her waist length hair solely to donate it to "Locks of Love". I chose Orchid as the place because I donated my hair there just weeks before... the stylist did a wonderful job. My daughter however, has very thick hair, and the stylist didn't feel comfortable cutting her hair to the length my daughter requested. She asked SEVERAL times for assistance from a senior stylist, and was told "she needed to learn some time". Well, the haircut was less than acceptable, so I called AMY SMITH the shop owner and told her how much I LOVED the stylist, but that I'd perfer it if SHE would look at my daughter's hair since she was SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST, and her stylist didn't feel confident. She refused. She then proceeded to tell me that I WAS the reason her stylist lost her confidence; my watching the stylist while she cut my daughter's hair, "made her nervous". Eventhough this was NEVER mentioned during my daughter's appt by AMY SMITH or the stylist, I apologized, but insisted that the stylist was just not comfortable cutting my daughter's hair, as she stated it SEVERAL times, and was refused help. AMY SMITH then proceeded to ask the senior stylist about his convo with my daughter's stylist, by SHOUTING for him across her shop, while I was STILL on the phone. He confirmed what I told her, and she finally relented by saying, "Well, I guess I can see when I can get you in, or you can think about it, if you want". SERIOUSLY? And to top it ALL off, she didn't even post my daughter's before and after pics on the Orchid fb page, (which she asked for my permission to do BEFORE the cut) probably bc of the poor job done in HER salon. I have NEVER felt so disrespected and been so offended in my life. It takes a special kind of RUDE and CARELESS, to RUIN a perfectly beautiful and completely selfless gift from a 5YR OLD!
