SHOUTOUT TO CATRINA! We were helped by Ms. Catrina by the Women's Shoes section, this lady was setting up new Macy's accounts like hotcakes. I appreciated how nice she was with each customer and was really trying to make sure everyone had a quality experience. Her coworkers stationed at the other register did not seem to enjoy their jobs as much as she did. My main complaint in this department would be the wait time, the Macy's is understaffed and lines started to form quickly. Additionally, it would take 20 mins to help ONE customer. Aside from the shoes section, I enjoyed this location. It's clean and they had great deals on linens and towels. If you're a Backstage Boy like me, there's a decent one upstairs. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I frequently shop at Macy's and often purchase clothing to try on at home, since the fitting room process in-store is very inconvenient. There is rarely any assistance available for getting alternate sizes, which makes the experience frustrating. Because of this, I sometimes need to return items. Today, I went in to make some returns and was treated with an unacceptable level of rudeness. The associate who first assisted me, Daniel, was extremely unprofessional. In fact, nearly every staff member I encountered today was discourteous, which has not been my experience in the past at this location. Daniel claimed that some of the items were not showing up on my receipt, even though I knew they were purchased on the same day, with the same transaction. After much back-and-forth, those items eventually had to be looked up manually, which was unnecessarily complicated. A woman named Maria, who identified herself as a manager, was also extremely rude. I asked her multiple times for my receipt back and to escalate the issue to her manager. She refused both requests. I had to physically take my receipt back from her, which was completely inappropriate. When the store manager, Diego, finally came out, he was not much better--condescending, dismissive, and unwilling to provide reasonable assistance. The lack of professionalism from leadership explains why this store is struggling. As an attorney, I recognize when treatment crosses a line into being completely unacceptable, and that was absolutely the case here. I recorded videos of both Maria and Diego's behavior and intend to share them publicly. I will no longer give my business to employees who treat customers in such an unaccommodating manner. If Nordstrom had not closed its location nearby, I would not even consider shopping at Macy's. Customers should be valued and appreciated, not demeaned and dismissed. I have already reached out to the district manager and am awaiting a response. I have also contacted corporate to request a full investigation into this store's management and staff. Behavior like this should not be tolerated, especially at a time when there are many qualified people seeking employment. Employees who conduct themselves in such an unprofessional, uneducated, and unqualified manner should be reviewed, investigated, and, if necessary, terminated. Thank you. read more

I always felt bad that legacy stores like Macy's were struggling and I always tried to patronize them , even though there are cheaper options . That ends now ! I placed an order online , to pick up at the store. I was heading to a birthday and that was my gift . Got an email that said my order was ready . Showed up to pick it up and for some reason , they had processed the order for the San Ramon store . They had the item in stock in San Bernardino , but refused to assist with my order . I explained San Ramon was 500 miles away .. their reaction ... "so what" . They said under no circumstances would they assist with correcting the order . I tried to cancel the order and was told absolutely not . They have an iron clad policy of no cancellations once the order has been placed . They said I would have to drive to San Ramon , pick up the order and return it . As of today they still have my money . I have to dispute the charge with the credit card company and perhaps file in small claims . Next time you see a news article about their chapt 11 bk , or them closing stores and laying people off ... it's not because of Amazon , it's because of their service and how they treat customers read more

I am very disappointed with my experience today at Macy's store Channel fragrance department. It is easy to understand why the rating of this store is so low the management has set such a low bar with a poor attitude, less than professional responses and non accountability attitudes that have been adopted by much of the staff. Fortunately Victor my initial representative was the opposite of his managers very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I asked for a manager to confirm if any discount could be applied because they no longer had any additional items that originally came with the roughly $200 dollar perfume I purchased as gift I would have accepted the answer whatever it was but I did want to ask. That manager Ms. S. was sarcastic, very negative and unprofessional which led me to ask for her manager Ms. J who was worse while another employee rolled her eyes. I do not typically spend money for bad service however it is late in the Christmas season. In San Bernardino Macys store. A Sunday peak hours ...mens dept. There are 27 people waiting in line to pay. There are only 2 people registering. Meanwhile I counted 5 employees walking around for curbside delivery. Obviously Macys doesn't need business I've seen 4 customers walk out of the store & 3 walked out of line because taking 15-20 min to ring 1 customer !! Then other employees come to the register & yak it up. Slowing process even more. Poor mgmt. poor planning. Why stores are leaving & closing. Ridiculous!! I have shopped at Macy's my whole life (I was brought up in New York) and I was thrilled when I moved to the West coast and found Macy's Recently I went to 2 Macy's the same day - Riverside and San Bernardino, CA. What I found was very disturbing. Clothes were strewn all over the floor and display tables contained mounds of clothes. In my whole life have I never walked out of Macy's without buying something, but not that day. I hope this was an anomaly and I will give them another chance in the future, but not if I find the same experience. read more

So I came here on Saturday evening and was helped at the cash register, by a Hispanic guy with dark hair, working in the children's/lingerie department. I didnt get his name, but his associate # is 71115670. Since the items I was returning, was shipped separately, I put each receipt with each item, to make the return process, easy for the associate. As i approach the register, I tell him that I'm doing a return and hand him the items. He then starts to gather each receipt and I stop him and tell him that I want it all done in one transaction, since they were all on my Macy's card, thats why I put the receipts with items in order like that. He then proceeds to tell me, "Well, with returns, I have to do each one separately". Now as a Platinum member, as well as being a former employee of Macy's, I know that isn't true. So whatever, I let him do what he had to do. Upon completion of the return process, I ask him, "So when did the return process change?" and he says "Well it changed....ummm, I don't know". It was clear he was about to make up a lie, then he stopped his self mid-sentence. So I then ask him...."Is it just that you didnt know how to do multiple returns in one transaction?" and his smart mouth ass responds with "Yeah, possibly". So now I have to get smart right back, and told him "Well you should have sent me to someone that knew how to do it, instead of having me do all that multiple card swiping and signing". He says nothing else, hands me my receipt, I tell him "Thank you!" and I walk out. read more

I noticed the reviews are all about customer service. It should be about honesty and open about products they sell. DO NOT BUY A MATTRESS FROM MACY'S! We bought the Hotel Collection king size mattress set (manufacured by Aireloom) and it was poorly constructed. They promote the Hotel Collection at the front of the department as if its the best. Great display, sexy black fabric. They tell you if you are not happy with it in 3 months you can send it back. They don't tell you that if its humped in the middle, if the sides are 6-8 inches around that you will be shorted that much of mattress to sleep on because it has springs that are not in line with the rest of the mattress. The worst bed we ever slept on. HORRIBLE! They quietly tell you that you can exchange it or pay a 15% penalty. That totaled over $1,000! We should have asked if its defective do we still have to pay a penalty. After sleeping on it and the misery it brought I did not want to exchange it! I wanted to go elsewhere (Royal Pedic) for a new bed after enjoying that brand for 14 years. We were stuck with a big penalty and felt like we had been totally taken advantage. They came out and "inspected with a rinke-dink tool and said "it wasn't defective enough"!! DON'T BUY FROM MACY'S AND DON'T BUY AIRELOOM anywhere. TWO RIPOFF COMPANIES THAT SCREWED US OUT OF $1000!!! Macy's has always been my go to department store. Since I was little I remember my mother taking me shopping there for everything. I thought this is where everybody shopped. But of course I grew up & realized that's not the case, far from it. A little side note: Scientifically the first 5 years of a childs' life are the most important because those are the most impressionable and it set the the standard of the success or lack there of? Ok well that is very true in the case. My early memories are shopping at Macy's for quality item & I still do. They carry a wide range of different lines from clothing, Coach, Dooney & Burke, Channel, Coach shoes &.bags, Donald Trump for men, makeup, they carry MAC, the best eye shadow, to household names like Martha Steward. They frequently have awesome deals in the sale racks and the Mrs. loves to find them while keeping me in tow just behind her. The store is clean and kept up. I recently went to the MAC counter to have my makeup done before a show that I was dancing for, and I had a fantastic experience. I got my makeup done by a lovely woman with a cute, short, blonde hairstyle. She was so helpful, funny, informative, and talented. I'd go back there just for her, and if I could afford getting my makeup done before every event, I would! I felt gorgrous, but it wasn't too much. Plus, the foundation color was flawless. After paying and waiting for delivery, I received a email saying the free gift has been discontinued in lieu they will give me 25% off my next purchase. If this happened once it would be understandable, but unfortunately it happens quite often with Macy's. This is false advertising if they don't have the free item don't offer it.
