Everything went exceptionally well. I only had one item that didn't arrive but when I let them know that was immediately corrected and I had the item delivered straight to my door within 5 days. Absolutely disgusting carpet outside the women's restroom. Foul. Rotten. Stained. They also do not provide a way to open the door after you use the bathroom without touching the handle. No paper towels either. So, even if you wash your hands you are forced to touch the door handle to get out...and of course we all know many people do not wash their hands after using the toilet. This store and the whole mall are rancid germ factories. Also, if you're shopping with elderly or disabled people, don't expect to find a place for them to sit comfortably while others shop. No chairs in every department like the days of service. It's sink or swim here, but keep buying their crap in the process of sinking. Stay away. Stay far, far away. read more

This was the worst experience of my life. I bought a couch that was 6,900$$$ I got the pet insurance for an additional 500 dollars. Have only had this couch for less than 6 months. And they refuse to give me my money back. I have called corporate and left numerous emails. I don't have a lot of money and this couch was a big investment for me. And I am deeply saddened how I am being treated. The sales associate was very kind and nice. But the warranty team won't give us a refund. Or even come out and look at the couch. Multiple times they said they sent out someone to look at the couch. And every time they said we weren't home. I took three days off in a row to be here for this. And not once left the house because I didn't want to miss it. I am very hurt by this and it just isn't fair. I want to get a lawyer and sue your asses because this is just against everything I was told and signed off on. The Warranty was for 5 years Covering pets and we were allowed to use it up to three times. Not once did we use it and the lady on the phone said they couldn't send anyone out to help because we already met our quota. I am extremely disappointed. I don't know how you are in business. I feel like this Macy's used to be a lot better and much more high end. Lately it doesn't seem to be more than a glorified Kohl's. Their shoe department used to be the best but it was significantly smaller then what I remembered. They also didn't have that many brands- from what I remember they had brands like: Croc's, Coach, DKNY, Michael Kors, Betsey Johnson and Jessica Simpson. What happened to brands like Tory Burch? Not only was there a small variety of shoes but the clearance display was also a bit of a mess. The sizes were in all the wrong sections and the clearance racks were so picked over at this point they should have taken the huge display down. I was also never once greeted or acknowledged at all when shopping for shoes in this section and I was there for a good 15 minutes. Terrible, nearly non-existent customer service! I really wanted a pair of these Betsey Johnston stiletto pumps but for $129- I was very taken a back. They were a tad expensive and still even after trying the shoes on (by myself) nobody ever came over to assist me & there wasn't many people in there at all. If anything it was pretty desolate. I never thought I'd long for the days- when sales associates would borderline harass you- but it's much better then being ignored! it's just too bad how Macy's has changed. Since Covid the store hasn't recovered and I definitely wouldn't want help from a couple of the male employees in the makeup/fragrance dept. Appears Macy's doesn't include personal hygiene in their employee training. The shoe dept is very limited as is the store in total. If they stocked the store with merchandise and presentable employees like pre-covid days customers would return to shop brick and mortar. Online shopping is not the same experience as actually "shopping" in store and enjoying the seeing, feeling, trying on various selections and actually choosing something or many items you love and making the purchase. I find with online shopping you need to order more items to find one item that fits properly or that you like and return the rest especially when purchasing shoes, the whole thing is a downer. Better yet go back to the days of neighborhood clothing trucks. read more

Macy's is my Go To when I need a nice Hook Up with clothing. I usually go when there's a sale going on. I never buy full price. I'm not a celebrity. I find the coolest attire.. and I'm a leader, not a follower, when it comes to fashion. This store pleases all of my desires.. shoes, intimates, etc. That being said, this store is one of my favorites. It's Huge though, which makes my ADD get a little crazy. But I love their brands. Finally found a cashier to check me out for two pairs of pants. Before paying the cashier specifically said, "If you use *YOUR* Macy's card you can get an additional 25% off today," implying there was an additional one-time discount. After swiping my Macy's card, there was no additional 25%-off applied. When I asked "Where's the 25% off?" the cashier said, "You have to have the points for that." When I replied, "That's not what you just said" (less than 30 seconds earlier), she replied with a different explanation, "You have to apply for a new card for that discount." I calmly corrected her, "That's not what you just said -- you just said that if I use my Macy's card then there's an additional 25% off today." The cashier just glazed-over and was either outright lying or in some sort of brain-dead haze all along, not sure which. A nearby customer had heard just the end of this conversation and interjected that I was "looking for trouble," apparently just by calmly pointing out the discrepancy. So I declined the purchase and left. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I used to occasionally go there for sales but this store deserves to go out of business. One has to hunt down a cashier, anyway, and basically beg to make a purchase to begin with there nowadays. WORST MACYS!!! This store is not long for the Providence place mall mark my words. Always in a disarray all 3 levels. The staff on all 3 levels Are horrible!!! I found one Staff member out of all 3 levels every time I go in there Her name is Suzanne and she is on the 3rd floor in furniture. That always greets you with a smile and is willing to assist you on all 3 levels what ever you need. So if you find yourself at this store and can't find anybody in sight which is very normal. Took a trip to the Providence Place Mall in search of a new dress to wear to an upcoming wedding. After stopping at several other locations, I found myself at Macy's. There was a decent selection of upscale dresses to choose from but the price points were a bit steep. I spent some time poking around though and found a few options to try on. After locating a fitting room, I got to work. Within a few minutes, a very perturbed-sounding employee made a sweep through the area, sounding out some rules about the fitting room (things like max number of garments allowed, removing all unwanted items, etc.). I wouldn't have minded if it were a simple reminder. But to walk through, literally shouting out rules, as though I had done something wrong was unnecessary. I assume the instructions were directed towards the group of giggling teenage girls but to walk through like a drill sergeant was unwelcome and invasive. Fortunately, I found a dress that fit the bill. The challenge? Finding an employee... any employee to cash out with. There was actually someone at the register in the dress section... for a few seconds. In the time it took me to pull up a coupon on my phone app, she disappeared. My friend and I (who was also purchasing a dress), walked around in circles looking for the associate. It took several minutes before we located and asked her to cash us out. Customer service could use some improvement. The coupon we used stated 20% off sale items. When the first dress scanned, the associate flat out said we couldn't use the coupon. No explanation. After further exploration, she stated that the item was not on sale, therefore we couldn't use the coupon. We point out that the price on the register shows a lower price than on the tag. She again states that the item is not on sale. We again point out that the register price is lower than what is on the tag... how could it not be on sale? She called a manager. The coupon is entered manually. Her whole tone changed after that and she was much more pleasant... but I can only describe our initial encounter as stand-off ish. The least she could have done was smiled. If I had much more back and forth about the purchase, they would have lost a customer. I do not shop at Macy's often in general... it is much less likely now that I will choose this place over others within the mall. read more

I thought I was going to get heat exhaustion from wandering around trying to find a dressing room here. Why would you put the fitting room in the coat section?! The signs are super subtle too. Once you actually find the fitting rooms, you'll wish you hadn't. Another shopper I overheard said it best: "I feel like I'm going to get killed in here." You can tell they haven't been renovated for a while since each stall had an ashtray in it (?!) and many didn't lock properly. And it's a good thing almost everyone has a flashlight built into their phone because the lights are too dim to actually see what the clothes look like, therefore defeating the purpose of a fitting room in the first place. Like many Macy's locations, it's completely impossible to find a counter that's actually staffed here. Even the so-called "Service Center" was empty. Then you're forced to decide whether to stand at the counter and hope someone shows up or wander around to another counter. It's weird too because I saw a bunch of employees doing busywork around the store, but when I needed to check out, they all must have hidden in the racks of clothes because there was no one to be found. The managers really need to step up their game and think about the floor as a whole. The only positive things I can say is that their return policy is very accommodating (store credit at any time) and they have some good sales. read more

(And no, I've never taken advantage of the 15% off that opening a Macy's card affords you - if that sort of thing's for you, the discounts cut even deeper.) Small half-star bonus for the economics of first-quality name-brand clothing margins being on full display - if I can get a new, pristine $350 Calvin Klein sportcoat in a style I'd actually want to wear for $37.49 after discounts without having to arm-wrestle a sales manager, you can see how much these threads must cost Macy's. Customer service has been modestly better in my past few visits (up from "nonexistent," "rude," or "pettily, obnoxiously commission-grubbing" in many past visits), which otherwise might warrant a one-star. As documented by others' photos, the mens dressing rooms are smelly squalor, to be avoided at all costs. Yes, this clothing game is played far better even just steps away at Brooks Brothers or Nordstrom...but in all honesty, if you're alright with putting in all the searching effort, you'll probably find your size decently well, and it'll be anywhere from a fair price to a downright steal for some good stuff. I was there yesterday. They had womens undies 7 for $35.00. A little expensive for such a small piece of cloth. I went to their clearence dept and found 3 packages of 5 of Joans of New York undies for $12.00. What a deal. I also bought a Champion sweatshirt for my grand son for $22.00. Great deals. Absolutely ghastly! Avoid this place like the plague! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! If you can get over the dark colored water stains all over the red carpets and somehow avoid the 15 employees jumping out in front of you yelling "WELCOME TO MACY'S!" then there is definitely no possible way that you were not at least accosted 3 times and pushed into opening a credit card. BEWARE the bathrooms at all costs. There is no way that housekeeping does their job. POOP on the walls. POOP on the floor. POOP in the sink. POOP on the mirror. POOP on the ceiling. The lights are oddly dimmed, as if they are trying to lure you into a romantic setting only to be ambushed by mediocre sales associates and low-paid-commission-seeking drones! The few employees that actually know what they are doing need to get out of there! The dressings rooms smell like customers pee on the carpets - I'm sure they do! Let's recount a couple bad experiences that happened to me lately: I was shopping for a dress shirt that I wanted to "try on" and wear out of there to go to a party I was running late for. The sales associate told me that I could not try the shirt on because they were attempting to be more like Nordstrom and Brooks Brothers and that I had to be measured and they would suggest the right size. Upon agreeing to this stupid idea, I was told that the shirt I wanted to purchase would NO WAY fit me and that perhaps I had gained some weight since the last time I went shopping because the buttons would burst right off if I put this on! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Next... I purchased a pair of shoes - which I had to *presell* in order to get the sale price - so had to return several days later to pick them up. Can you say "inconvenient" - is that the magic of Macy's? Anyway, when I got home and opened the shoes, I discovered they had somehow been soiled with a black oily substance - gross! I went in to exchange them - but of course, they don't have my size and I have to order them. Once again, inconvenient. So now we are waiting for a register because nobody opened up more than one register in her department - the fragrances register was open and I had to argue with her to use it because I didn't have time to wait for the 4 employees waiting to use the one opened register. In the process, the sales associate orders the new pair of shoes but charges my card $30+ more for them because she didn't apply the savings I received when I purchased the before-mentioned soiled shoes. Her manager was nowhere to be found. Actually, no manager was to be found. It was Sunday - and the store manager must have been out of the building so everyone decided to play games in the stockroom I guess! After proceeding to call 1-800 numbers and try to fix the problem, I was told it was hopeless and that I would have to wait for the merchandise to be delivered to my home and then brought back in to be adjusted. WHAT?! Incompetence! This is why you people make minimum wage! You want me to have to come back AGAIN?! That is THREE trips to Macy's for ONE pair of shoes! Let's not forget I have to pay $2 at the parking garage every time I come into this dump! After I return these shoes and go buy them at Guess - I will NEVER shop at your store again. I am so very upset to write this update. Last night, I spent one frustrating hour trying to shop at Macy's at Providence Place Mall. Although there is no longer a petite department at this location, I sometimes shop for XS in some designer departments. Each time I found an item in which I was interested, I searched the store trying to find a price check machine that would work, only to find out that the majority had been removed from the walls. I then had to do an "around the world tour" to find a cashier to check the price. The entire store looked totally unkept. I was very disappointed, extremely disgusted, and cannot believe that no one at corporate seems to care about what their customers think and experience. read more

if you have stepped into the Warwick Mall's redesigned Macy's you will realize the reason for the low rating. This Macy's was probably state of the art when it opened as a Filenes in 1999, however it has not been touched since. The newly designed Macy's out there have set designer areas, open floor plan similar to Nordstrom's. It would be smart of Macy's to redo this store to compete with Nordstrom before it is too late. The men's department specifically was a disaster with picked through racks and bins, clothes strewn on the floor, and barely an employee in sight. This is the Providence Place location of Macy's. It is just ok. Selection is so often picked over and just blah -- especially in the selection of cocktail and formal dresses. I have not experienced bad service, but it is often hard to find someone to help you. The merchandise is often crowded together and you trip over things trying to find what you are looking for. There are great sales and coupons to be had if you have a Macy's charge card or you print them from online. I prefer the Warwick Mall location -- parking's a heck of a lot easier too. read more

Most of the time I hav gone looking for a particular article of clothing, even for something as generic as a black cardigan, I have left empty handed. It's not only because they organize by designer rather than type of clothing (which I hate, but is not specific to this location). My wife and I are looking for a new mattress. Rather than start crawling the strip malls and specialty stores, we decided to start locally and head over the Macy's in the Providence Place Mall. Being a Monday, we had the time, so we made plans to go after dinner. My wife's comment was, "Oh great, there will be no one to help us." How did she know that? Well, off we went to Macy's, which on a Monday night was like a ghost town. We found the mattresses and, since we had the place to ourselves, did what everyone does at mattress showrooms, which is to lay down on the ones that were in our price range, going back and forth for comparison. We did this for about 20 minutes. There was a young woman at the counter right at the front of the large showroom helping another couple. Not once did she acknowledge us, much less say that she would be right with us. In fact as we walked out of the showroom, she never looked up. Rebuffed in our mattress quest, we headed over to betting to look at mattress pads, figuring if we can't have a new mattress, we can at least make what we had more comfortable. In this case there was a salesperson. However, this was a young guy who admitted that he knew nothing about the mattress pads. Because they are entombed in two layers of plastic, the can't really get a feel of them. Since these range in price from $90-$160, we needed to know what we were buying before we shelled out to dough. The guy went to try to find samples. After about 10 minutes he was still AWOL, so we left. The new Macy's - now entirely self-service for your convenience. read more

Went to the Shiseido counter at Macy's. Waited on by a sales woman with dyedd black hair and gray roots. Told her I needed foundation. She takes out a color which I tell her is too dark. She proceeds to glop it on my chin without asking using the bare applicator from the bottle and return it there without cleaning it and use her dirty finger to rub it on my chin. I HATE this Macy's. I actually hate this Macy's so much, I have vowed to never, ever, EVER go back. Why? Because it is the epitome of frustration. All I wanted was a pillow. A pillow for my bad shoulder and aching neck. I found the bedding section amidst the chaos and over-crowded store, and went through each and every single pillow by myself. I went through all ten million of them by myself because there wasn't single, solitary person in the vicinity to help me. Not one. When I finally decided on the right one (which took me nearly an HOUR as I have no effing idea what's what in the land of pillows), I wandered the three-level store in search of a person with the ability to take money from me so I could leave with my stupid pillow. When I did find someone (a young, confused gentleman in the men's shirts department), he was so unhelpful and nervous I was ready to give up then and there. Miraculously, a woman from the lingerie department (?!?!) popped up and found it within herself to use the cash register and free me from this prison of misery. For the love of god, the whole process was more painful, irritating and frustrating than the time I cut the tip of my thumb off - in fact, I would happily spend another five hours in the ER of Miriam Hospital than set foot in this ghastly department store ever again. Do yourself a favor, walk to the other end of the mall and shop at Nordstrom or go to the basement and behold the marvelousness that is Bed, Bath & Beyond. Anything beats this place. You would think it was closing time. I can't believe that management would allow the store to open with one of its principal departments in such disarray. Oh Macy. A holiday institution. A shopping institution since I was in my teens..I fear it is time to say goodbye. I mostly shop the Prov. location(hence the Prov. review), as this location has quite a few nice brands, and sales in the past. This past year they have introduced their Impulse line, which is a boutiquey looking section of the store near DKNY, Michael Kors, and the "better" dept. on the 2nd fl. The problem is I LOVE the Impulse section, they carry Free People, Kenzie etc. , but will not budge on the prices. I was Impulsive enough to charge 90 bucks on a couple of shirts, but, fool me twice..Anyhow, Miss Macy likes to send me these 20% off cards, and when one reads the fine print, well, lets just say the only thing one could use it towards is Charter Club, or shitty juniors off-brands like Energie. Fuck That. I can't even get a Macy charge discount towards 95% of their warez. So why bother? From now on you will find me exclusively at Marshalls, TJ's and the like. I thought I liked this Macy's. I thought the employees were nice, and competent. I thought that when I paid $1200 for a mattress it would be delivered to my house, in good condition, by professional delivery people. Oh yeah, and I figured it would be the right mattress. I was wrong. So very, very wrong. As you may have guessed I bought a mattress from this Macy's - after going to several mattress showrooms and finding nothing I liked for a comparable price. On my second visit my girlfriend and I were helped by Gail, a seemingly nice woman who was able to keep track of the different things the 2 of us were looking for in a mattress. After about an hour of narrowing it down to 2 choices I decided to go with the slightly more expensive choice. Macy's was having a sale so I ended up paying a little more than half price. I thought this was great. During checkout Gail was quick and nice. We set up a delivery date and time that was perfect for me. I thought all was good in the world. Delivery day comes. After spending all day moving into a new apartment I get a call from the delivery guys saying they are 2 minutes away. I tell them I'll meet them downstairs to let them into the building, we hang up. I wait outside in the rain for 15 minutes before they actually arrive. Whatever, I'm just excited to get my mattress. The delivery guys seem pissed off to even be there, and bring the mattress into my apartment take the plastic off put it down and walk out. After they leave I notice it's not actually the mattress I ordered (same brand, just not a pillow top). So, I call Macy's and am told that for a 15% restocking fee and $70 re-delivery fee I can have the correct mattress in about a week. I think "Is this real life?!" I'm waited about 20 minutes for a manager to call me back about waiving the fees and getting the mattress sooner before I jut called the 800 number. After an hour on the phone with a corporate customer service rep, and then an executive rep, we managed to get everything more or less resolved. I'm getting the correct mattress (7 days from now), no bs fees, plus they knocked a few dollars off the price and are sending me a gift card for my trouble. I have the rest of my apartment still left to furnish, suffice to say I will not be buying anything else from Macy's. read more

This store needs to wake up. The men's department has been a mess since the day after Christmas last year. Used to be ordered and now it's just a chaotic mess. Plus you can't find anyone to help you or check you out. Macy's is where I used to always shop, but not here. read more

Every time I shop in this store, I wonder why I even bother. First of all, the store is crammed with merchandise, much of it cheap and disposable-looking. Most of the women's clothes are loud and synthetic, it's difficult to find shoes and handbags that are actually made of leather, and there aren't many higher-end brands. The jewelry is mostly costume-y crap that looks like it will fall apart after you wear it once. The state of the physical store is atrocious, too. I was just in the dressing room tonight and the floor looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed in a month. The walls were scuffed and the hardware on the doors looked about ready to fall off. The last few times I've been in the store, there are a couple of staff who look like they're working hard, while the majority of people are standing around talking and not even asking you if you need help. And if you're petite, forget the Providence location. The miniscule selection is full of dowdy designs, with a paltry selection of sizes. You're better of going to the Warwick Mall or the West Farms Mall in Connecticut (worth the trip and the Connecticut sales tax, trust me). Overall, I would say the Providence store is a microcosm of the fall in quality of the Macy's chain. Its marketing is so out of touch with what is actually happening in the stores. While at Providence Place, I'd rather spend my time shopping at Banana Republic, Gap, Black House White Market, and Ann Taylor for my work/casual wardrobe. read more
