You know what to expect and get it The clothes look good and will LAST Staff is typically friendly and forthcoming, but not cloying I stand by this location as a good go-to men's clothier in Providence, with an offering of women's and children's clothes to go with it. This is a very suitable space considering the usual confines of a mall location. I love their pique polo and have never had to replace one for a reason other than weight loss - i simply keep adding colors. They've gotten better about mixing in new twists on classic items that are a little bolder in color combinations or patterns. You can rely on their more formal offerings to fit right or be tailored well. Though I never actually reach for them, I dig that there's a store carrying pants with whale or lobster print patterns because, honestly, that stuff is what you want your rich, natty Uncle Lloyd wearing, and Brooks Brothers can pull that off. I've had personable and capable service every time I've been here, I've occasionally had exceptional service. However, to be candid, I know what I'm there for, what size I am, and all their stock is on the sales floor, so service is a side dish for me here. Their wrinkle-free, slim-fit button downs are absolutely wonderful -I love them! I totally hate ironing, and if everything was made of the fabric these shirts are made out of, I'd never have to iron again. They come in an array of colors and patterns, and are impervious to wrinkles, stains and my hatred. This Brooke's Brothers is always well-stocked with both new collections and standard items, everything is neat as a pin and the staff, while mildly cold, are efficient and helpful. The store is large, well-lit and conveniently situated near a slew of other clothing stores, so it's convenient to pop in and pick up what you're looking for in no time at all. Knowledgeable tailor named Steve helped me find want I needed and quick, answered all of my questions and all around helpful.

My brother got a suit here and we spent over $1000. We came back to get it tailored and fixed and they charged us to have this done. I find this ridiculous considering we spent a large amount of money here. This was NOT explained to us when purchasing the suit, so be warned that there are additional charges. After asking the employee about this, he acted very obnoxiously and said yes we charge.... this would have been nice if we were informed of extra fees and charges BEFOREHAND. read more

Providence definitely has less of a sales finesse that the Boston stores. I did get a well-fitting, classically styled suit for my daughter there, and the fabric was definitely much better than that at the ends of the mall, but the salesman had me figuring out the hem line for the pants alterations (just lucky I have sewn since I was young -- why not just get a female salesperson if he didn't know?). He was very kind, he just knew nothing about the women's line. Also the call never came letting me know that the pants were ready, which I really could have used as I am not normally a mall shopper. I'll go in again, but possibly on a trip to Boston. read more

Bought an 1818 Fitzgerald suit a month or so back. Gorgeous suit, even better quality. Was very happy with the purchase and will probably be getting another one soon. The service however. I could take it or leave it. Very business like. At least show the slightest bit of warmth and appreciation when I spend $500 on a whim on a random Tuesday afternoon. Ya, I know that isn't much for a Brooks Brothers sale, but still. I don't need my ass kissed, but even the next couple times I came in there, it was a dull, almost forced, flat lined greeting from the same person. Also, the due date for the suit adjustments was nothing but confusion. The day it was "supposedly" ready, the saleswoman couldn't even find my suit. I gave her my name, and 10 min later (on the phone) she came back and said that there was another person with the same first name, but a similar last name, and they could not locate my suit. Um, dummy... here is my address and my telephone number, can you go check to see if that is my suit and you wrote my name incorrectly? 10 min later on hold... they confirmed it was me. Love the clothes, but from my experience, common sense and personality came up extremely short. Won't stop me from purchasing clothere there, but I think most people can agree that they enjoy walking in/out of a place with a smile rather than feeling like it was your duty to go in there and spend your hard earned cash. Meanwhile in Nordstoms, I buy socks and a pocket square, and all of the guys on the floor are running up to me, shooting the sh*t, shaking my hand. You can tell when someone is genuinely happy to see you, and for me... that can easily be the deciding factor to who gets my business. read more

Brooks Brothers are not the store they were but some things have not changed. If you are looking for a measured fitted shirt and have be disappointed with mass produced shirts then take the time and check them out. Stop and have them measure you, pick a fabric that suits you then order a shirt. If your looking at the price point ..yes they can be expensive but to me there is nothing more irritating than having a shirt that does not fit correctly, too short in length and collars that don't seat a tie flat. I have ordered many shirts from them over the years and still have them. I've only once had a problem and that was corrected fast. read more

Are you going to tempt me with overpriced oxford shirts? That saying might make sense in a chocolate store (chocolate=tempting), but in a hoity-toity clothes store, it made me want to leave. maybe i'm blowing this out of proportion, but it just irritated me. both stars are for the overpriced monogrammed french cuff shirt that my husband loves. read more
