I was on the search for a men's rain jacket and to look around with my Mum. They were some other shoppers. The place though is it tearing with the carpets are filthy and many sections are now empty. We found a jacket but unfortunately there was no sales associate to assist us after over ten minutes waiting. SLOW is the mantra of this decrepit business. I have not been in a Macy's in at least a year and now I have further reason not to return much sooner if ever. There was a time and place for this store, and that is in the past. This store used to be very good. I ordered online. It took a week to get the product. 45 days later, the electric blanket quit working. Customer service was not helpful. When I tried to call the system, the automated system was terrible and it could not even hear my responses. I had to repeat everything about 4 times. The warranty that came with the product had the same bad service. I spend over $200 and they do not even care. read more

Bad dirty floors. Not enough long term employees. Customers want more help but they only allow certain people to help ring up orders. Cash registers are available but no one works at them. Employees whisper around customers. Old registers, and stores are loosing brands. read more

Went into this store, with my wife, after about a year. Went to buy some luggage, unfortunately, it was way below standard. Could not find anyone in the department to help. Displayed "sucked" website inventory did not match store stock. Left store and found same luggage we liked at walmart for like 1/3 the price. When we think of Macy's, we usually think of a high end department store that carries reputable brands, but our recent trip to Macy's left us incredibly disappointed. First I did our shopping online, and confirmed that the items we wanted were available in the store. Macy's website assured me we would have no issues. When we arrived at Macy's the store felt old. I understand that department stores age, but daily cleaning and stock organization can do wonders for a space and Macy's is not keeping up. Their space looked and felt dirty. The woman who attempted to help us was polite, but she was obviously overwhelmed. There were two women working the floor, trying to answer questions for everyone who approached, so we were interrupted four times in just a few minutes. On top of everything Macy's website was wrong and they did not have in store what we needed. It wasn't a size issue either, they didn't even have the brand in the store. We were told we could buy a different brand we did not want or we could order the brand we wanted online. Very helpful. /s We left feeling unpleasant. I considered if we would have felt different if Macy's would have had what we needed, but I really think our disappoint would remain. Macy's need to clean up their act. read more

It's sad to see this once fine store showing its age. It definitely needs to be remodeled or if nothing else a good cleaning. I've always enjoyed shopping at Macy's. Nearly all the sales clerks are nice and I typically can find what I am looking for. This is not the type of store you where you ask where something is though, since the staff is basically check-out and stocking personnel. Their sales are great and I walked away today with a savings of $57. I truly hope this store keeps it doors open. We need a top-notch department store in Kalamazoo. read more

This place is done. The staff has given up :( I usually only like to post happy reviews but clearly this is the whole company. They don't even have a single dressing room open to try pants on. They have half the stock they used to and our cashier stopped in between customers to check out a fellow staff member. Slow cannot be understated in everything happening at the register. Haven't been to Macy's in about three months. Store has gone from neat, well staffed and clean to filthy, no staff and messy displays. The fitting room carpeting was filthy. This location has not updated since the 1980's when it opened. The floor tiles are chipped, carpets are filthy and the dressing rooms are like a time warp. The Cosmetics area is so crammed and unorganized, it's like a garage sale. I was told that this location will be closing soon, and that is why they will not be updating. Most clothing items have "return item" stickers on them, showing that they have been purchased and then returned. Sizes are very, very limited. Usually lots of Size 2 and Size 16. Not much in between. It's sad to see the decline right before your eyes. Employees are not cheerful or helpful. Most often, you stand at a register for several minutes with no help. The last two times I visited, I had to go in search of an employee to ring up my purchase. Close the place and put it out of it's misery already!! read more

We went to Macy's this weekend to look at purses and handbags. We went up to the Coach counter and the girl behind the counter looked at us and walked away. She didn't even acknowledge our existence. I had to move around the counter to block her from leaving. I asked to see a purse that was locked up - she didn't say a thing. NOTHING. She did show us the purse but looked bored and she didn't want to help us. We asked to see another Coach purse and she did show us the purse - still not saying a word. We purchased the Coach purse and spent a lot of money at Macy's. I have never had a store clerk at Macy's that rude. Unfortunately, that was the only place close that sold that particular purse. If there was another store, I would have immediately left the area. We were there On May 4th. She was a young, blonde clerk. read more

I have been a Macy's customer for many years, and appreciate that the store is in Portage. It is my go-to store for SO many things. I always find the customer service wonderfully helpful, the coupons and sales are fantastic for the best products in this area, and if I can't find something--I am helped to locate it in another store. We will never shop hare again until they change the rules on returns bought on debit card. If you return anything and use your debit card they will not refund you in cash. No other store does this. If you buy a gift and that person wants to return they will not refund you unless you have your debit card even with a receipt. Anyone shopping here should think twice before buying gifts unless your prepared to go with that person to return with your card unless you want a in store credit. Ridiculous! read more
