There was a time when Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks, etc. were about on par with each other. That time has passed. Clothing is always strewn everywhere, shelves are disorganized, and the words "neat and tidy" have no connection to this retailer. Imagine shelves of stacked shirts; someone pulls one out from the bottom, opens it up, and then shoves it back on top of the stack wadded up. No,w repeat that with the next one on the bottom, etc., and that is pretty much how the shelves are. The racks are the same, with stuff on the floors, hanging over the top of the racks, hanging by one end of a hanger, etc. Even the jewelry and watches in cases are not neat or aligned. Finding an employee here is like panning for gold in the Pacific Ocean, which is probably why nobody is around to clean things up. Finding a cashier is even more challenging than that. And when you do find an open cashier, expect silly lines. On this visit, there was a place with 3 cash registers but only 1 cashier and 9 people in line in front of us. Macy's is trying to emulate WalMart and doing a fine job. The only reason we stayed in line was that our granddaughter ate a bite of a lollipop so we needed to pay for it. We have stopped going to Macy's; this was the last time we went to one. Pretty much the only thing you find there now is store brands and clutter. You are better off going to Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus, or smaller stores like Black Market, White House, Ann Taylor, Talbot's, etc. Two stars and sadness at what this brand has become. read more

A big Macys online shopper. Brought a pair of shoes from the website. Opened the box and Literally got one shoe. Went back to the store and at first it was an apology, and ended with store credit. Had no option for my money back. Wasn't about the money, but customer respect. Don't blame any of the sales associates, but WOW. Never had anything like this happen before with online shop through a brand like MACYS. read more

I visited here at 6:20pm on a Sunday afternoon to help my brother shop for a beige suit jacket and a vest to match with some pants he already had. They have VERY Limited suit/dressy section for men. If that's your purpose, do not come to Macys, at least at this location. You'll have better luck somewhere else. We legit was like "that's it?". We even asked an employee to be sure. Clearly, we didn't find what we were looking for. Upstairs, they have Macy's Backstage, which is essentially like a discount area. There was hand sanitizer available by the escalators. I did notice that the escalators were narrow. While simply just browsing, someone did ask if he needed any help, which he didn't. Backstage has a BUNCH of stuff. So, I would definitely recommend going there FIRST before shopping in the regular area. Ultimately, we left and went to another store to continue the search. read more

I came in to return an online purchase. I brought the receipt and the email I got after purchasing. Cashier 1 couldn't find it so they sent me to customer service. 15 minutes later and they couldn't find it either. They couldn't refund me because the order couldn't be located. I don't know what the issue js. I left with the purchase in hand and will have to sort out returning by mail. Service is not the same as it once was. The staff today was super friendly but none could figure out why they couldn't locate the purchase even with all the receipts and documents needed. I will say the lower level is much more organized than upstairs. Upstairs is a disaster in comparison. The sales rack were organized and it was much easier to maneuver and find things downstairs. Someone fell on the escalator and it took 14 minutes before EMS arrived. Even then I was exiting and pointed to the emt where the escalator was because no one was posted at the door to show them or even guide them upon entering. 15 minutes js a very long response time especially considering the man had a gash on his head and was bleeding. The area wasn't blocked off and people were still by the man while waiting to help. They did stop the one side of the escalator but there wasn't any clean up of blood at the top of the or on the stairs and it made a mess. No photos taken for privacy of the man injured. read more

Nasty carpet that hasn't been cleaned in years, rude employees that are not interested in customers as they are in their personal conversations. We won't be back. read more

I love Macy's in the northern part of the country. It seems like since the brand moved south the standards went with them. Walked in and instantly realized I wasn't in the same playing field as some of there other stores. The first floor is cosmetics and ladies products-not bad. The second floor was like a completely different store. Gross lighting, dirty, unorganized, and clearly neglected. The "Macy's Backstage" is supposed to be a discounted section of the store but it was so unorganized you couldn't find a bargain if you wanted to. The store hours are also very strange. Why do you close at 8:00 Monday-Wednesday? All the other stores in friendly center close at 9:00, I walked in at 7:30 and the store stared their closing announcements not long later-I left and walked across the parking lot to Belk that stayed open an extra hour later so I wouldn't be rushed. read more

I always shop for clothing from my home computer and Macy's website has a HUGE selection of clothing, housewares, shoes, styles, sizes, colors and prices! :) I LOVE the fact you can also have everything shipped to you (if you are an elite customer there is free shipping). Returns are gladly accepted and those customer service folk are friendly, efficient, polite and helpful. The store itself shows a bit of wear and tear... but recently, it seems they are attempting to repair and clean more thoroughly. The elevator needs a total overhaul. Covid these past 2-3 years has disrupted everything, with many stores have closed but... some of those clothing stores sells their merchandise thru Macys. read more

Went to Macy's, Friendly Center in Greensboro, NC to exchange three men's shirts. I've never been in the store before & was VERY impressed with the friendliness of each employee that I dealt with! I got there as they were opening; the gentleman that unlocked the doors pointed me in the right direction to make my returns. Once I was in the men's department I sought out a salesperson for help & though she was working on something herself, she stopped & offered me several solutions to my problem. Then, at the checkout, Shadan helped me complete my reorder, made sure the more expensive shirt was given the purchased price AND, she had all my ordered items sent to my home! I was very impressed (and thankful) for each person friendly, helpful attitude even after a busy CHRISTmas season! GREAT JOB! read more

Here's a tip for yall. When you go somewhere warmer than where you're living, Go shopping! Since North Carolina is so dog-gone hot, their winter stuff was on some crazy sale. I tell you what, Johnny got hooked up with a cashmere sweater, a v-neck sweater, and a nice dress shirt for 30 dollars. I know what you're thinking, "But Johnny, doesn't that mean you should give them 5 stars." Now hold your horses, Remember how I told you it's hot in North Carolina? The freaking AC wasn't working in that behemoth of a store. That's worth minus 2 stars if you ask me. Especially since I had to try on said sweaters to make sure they fit. Honestly, I am not a big fan of this Macy's. The staff is very friendly and helpful however the selection of items is very small, and there isn't much there that fits my tastes. The upstairs fitting room smells stale...probably from the old carpet, but then again it may have been from a customer before me that forgot to put on deodorant. They have a good selection of men's clothing and that's what I am there for. My wife does not care for the lady's clothing section. She says it skews matronly. I purchased a pair of Prada sunglasses inside of Macy's about 3 months ago. After wearing the glasses for about 3 weeks I noticed that both of the lenses were cracking around the screws. I took the glasses back in and the person behind the counter referred me to luxottica repairs saying they were great and easy to work with. She also told me that the likely cause of the damage was the glasses got to hot....they're sunglasses right? I called the 800# where it is impossible to get a real person on the phone and finally filled out a claim online. That was 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing... Sunglasses hut/Macy's is accepting no responsibility for the damage and I doubt I'll get any help online. $400 down the drain, next time I'll shop at Belk. read more

The staff at this location is always extremely friendly and helpful. On more than one occasion I have had one of the ladies working in the women's apparel help me match an outfit and check how it looked on me in the dressing room. It was like shopping with a friend. I love Macy's read more

I do not shop at Macy's. I am only writing this review because it was an option. I recently put in an application for a seasonal part-time position here. I arrived at the open interviews at 3:45 and the receptionist was a nice older lady. As I was waiting, the office started getting fuller nd fuller. HR then came out and told me they weren't able to find my online application, so I submitted it about 3 more times on my phone as I was siting in the lobby. I really needed a job so I stayed and gave my application some time to come through their system. Eventually about 5:50, they finally found my application, the original one I had submitted. So not only was I running out of patience, but then the interviewers decided they had to take their break. About 6:15 I was taken to the back for my interview, and I did great. The lady actually said she wish she could hire me, "but unfortunately, all of the position have been filled at this moment.' I asked her when was the position filled and why did they continue to let me wait out there, and her response was " I actually filled the last position at 3:45 earlier before I went on my lunch break, we're just interviewing people in case someone doesn't show up." I was out of there by 6:24 p.m. I understand this is a busy time of year and they need extra employees, but for me to wait over two hours just to say there actually isn't anymore positions open, is ridiculous. read more

I purchased a new mattress in July 2021. Of course the salesman did a good pitch. This is the worst mattress I have ever had. And the most I have ever paid for one. It's a rip off. Of course it came with the support instead of springs, which is nothing but a glorified "bunkie board". And that's exactly how it is when lying on it. AWFUL. It was placed over my original support instead of removing it. The paper work stated the delivery would place my bedskirt on the board. Never happened. The driver was very unfriendly. The other tried to smooth over how terrible he talked to me. The driver placed the old bedding in my front yard and did not move it. The other person asked me where to place it and he carried it to my carport. The driver would not take the springs & I was very aggitated with him. He took the mattress but left me to deal with disposal of the springs. I contacted customer service and was told springs were not picked up, only mattress. They only hooked up one side of the controls to raise & lower the board, so if there is a 2nd person they have no control for their side. I hate getting in this bed at night because I know I will not sleep. So I just sleep on the sofa. I hope this does not happen to another customer. read more

We had the best experience working with Joe today. We came in looking for a suit for my fiancé. He helped get the sizes correct and said he could order the one they wanted since they didn't have it in stock. Then he helped us find the correct shirt size and measured my fiancé. Joe was so nice and helpful today! We ended up buying two suits, three shirts, and two ties! Then he honored the online price we found and gave us the 20% special sale that is going on for Mother's Day! What a wonderful experience. Normally Macy's is an easy shopping experience. I don't go as often as I used to since I can find less expensive clothing items elsewhere. The associates are usually friendly enough if not always the most helpful. I get it, working retails sucks sometimes. I did it for years, even at a Macy's in NJ. Today I was doing a simple return, receipt in hand for both items well within the return date time fame. Each item was on a different card so when Pansey processed the return and I had a question about how the transaction was being done with only inserting one card in the machine and it saying that my return about $30 less then what it was suppose to be, Pansey in her 2 pack a day smoker voice very rudely waved her hands at me and said "wait, and mumbled something not so kind under her breath, flipped down the receipt and pointed out that the credit to my credit card was automatic and what I had seen was what was going on my debit card. Since she hasn't informed me of this sooner, I don't think it was out of line to ask for some clarification. Pansey, if you don't want to be in a job that serves costumers, find another that might suit your rude, smoker's cough voice attitude a little better than Macy's. I had ordered some items online from Macy's. Much to my regret, I had to return several items that did not fit. When I went in looking for the return desk, the lady acted as if she really did not care to help me. She was busy talking to a gentleman. She instructed me to go to the department for each individual return. Well, as I proceeded to do that, I was told that I should have been asked to go upstairs. However, Janice in the Ladies department was at the register. I have to say she took great care of me in every aspect. She did explain that the return policy had changed recently. She explained to me that she would be glad to help me at this time. Janice definitely made my shopping experience a very pleasant one. I bought some earrings from Macys on the Macy card. I paid it off with my debit card. I returned the item to the store at Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro, NC where I bought it. They would not return my money to me and said I had to call customer service to get my money back. I contacted them the next day and they said they would put the money in my bank account. I gave them my routing number all numbers they requested. They said it would be put in my bank account on January 5th. I bought the earrings Dec 2, 2017. The first person I talked to was Ella ID91036158. No money was put in my bank account then. Ok, then I called again and talked to a man I could not understand. I think he said that his name was Teenp ID9117002, I do know that is right. He said it was deposited in my bank account. No money was in my bank account from Macys Jan 5, 2018. Okay, then I talked to Kyle ID91146268 and he also said he was taking care of it and we verified my routing number and other numbers. He said it would be in my account the next Monday. Well, NO money showed up on January 8th. Now it is Jan 9, 2018 and I am talking to someone else and they said a check was issued me and not put in my bank account. This is very serious because the amount of money is $476.00 and they sent it to an address that is not correct. I live in a condo that I own but in my community there are a lot of places that say numbers that are the same and you did not add the right letter to the address and it could go to anyone. I am very upset to say the least. Nobody ask my address and nobody ever told me a check was issued. They all said it was put into my bank account until today and the girl I talked to told me about the check. I have ask for a supervisor to talk to and was put on hold for at least 30 minutes and she said the line to the supervisor, that nobody answered the line. I am at work and you have no idea how hard it is to talk on the phone about this issue over and over again. I want my money and I want it now. I have never had such poor service in my life from a department store. No wonder you are closing down stores. I am very upset to say the least. I want my money deposited in my account now and not next week. That is your problem about the check not mine. That is my money you have and I want it as soon as possible. This week for sure. But be warned when you make a return...I purchased a pair of sunglasses from the sunglass hut inside on first floor..And as soon as I said I had to return them..the sales girl demeanor changed...she was cold and acted like it was the end of her world because I paid cash..macys should take tips from costco or other stores that just want you to be happy with your product and thank you and ask for you to visit them again soon...you want to keep customers, not alienate them and make them feel guilty to make a return...if it is such a big deal to have a customer return something that they are not happy with, why have the 90 day return as a policy??
