Store has gone downhill! When I go to children's section and they are all either designer clothes now with hefty price tags and no bargains that Macy's coupons don't except to summer garbage nobody wants marked down and still no bargains. You can't find a clerk to help you and when you do, they seem confused. Everything is mixed in with other stuff. It's hard to find sizes. Now that Lloyd Center Macy's has closed, I have to drive to Clackamas or Washington Square for my Macy's fix. When they were located across from my gym, this was a once a week occurrence! But now that I have to make a deliberate trip, I only shop here a few times a year. Typically I'm here for clothing and I go with no intent; I like to peruse the different departments to check out new styles and the in season colors. My favorite department is Inc which stands for International Concepts, a Macy's brand. This line always has fashion forward items but at prices that don't break the bank. I have several maxi dresses, cardigans with silver grommets, their curvy jeans which fit snug in the waist but have room everywhere else, and sweaters and fun summer tops. Love and wear them all! Rarely do I pay full price, no need since there are sales all the time! On everything! Just picked up a cashmere poncho from Charter Club for $79 with an original price of $249. I saw it early in the season and patiently waited until it hit the price I wanted to pay. I felt confident to wait it out since I've bought one ever year for the past three years in different colors and patterns. Great way to build my wardrobe With these lightweight but warm wraps and ponchos. For real bargains head to the Backstage area or Last Call. Backstage items are definitely lower quality and we're never actually out on the main floor. However that is not the case with Last Call. This is where items from the main floor go when they are priced to sell. Over the years I've scored pants and jeans for under $10; athletic tops and leggings for $8; INC brand items for $12. It takes time to push through the many racks that are jammed with clothing. Plus it gets messy over there! But if I'm caffeinated and have the time and patience, I play my luck and rarely walk away without a find. Macy's always has a great selection of handbags both designer and fashion affordable. Also love the fashion jewelry; they always have fun and classic pieces to take an outfit to that next level.. I'm a sucker for dangly earrings and they have a fabulous selection. The shoe department always has a broad selection of styles and brands. They carry Naturalizer, Easy Spirit, Michael Kors, Uggs, Bearpaws and lots of other name brands. Wait for the sales especially one that deducts 30% if you buy three pairs. See why I used to frequent Macy's all the time? Now that the location across from my gym closed, I am saving a lot of money! No impulse purchases or shopping on stressful days! But today's visit to the Clackamas Macy's did make me wish for those days again. read more

I left a one star review out of frustration and that was unfair of me and I was wrong. The thing is, I really do hate this particular Macys store. I can't fault them because there's never anywhere to park. What I do still have an issue with is having to hunt down an associate to help me with anything every time. Once I do get their attention, it's a 50/50 chance that they will help me or they will point me in the direction of someone who will help me. I also dislike this particular location because of the way the store is laid out. I try to keep my visits here to the bare minimum. My husband and I went to Macy's in Clackamas, Oregon on a Sunday 2/11/24 as my husband was given a Macy's gift card for Xmas. We never shop at malls so we thought it would be nice to see what would be on offer in the men's department. We walked through the cosmetic/perfume area which was fully staffed and took the escalator down to the men's and walked the whole floor. We were surprised to see it mostly empty with only a few customers and no staff. We looked for someone to help us find prices on shoes (there were no prices on any of the items) and could find no one. My husband left the shoe area and had to walk the whole floor before he finally found one male staffer who was helping a customer at a cash register and asked the young man if he could find someone to help and he said he'd get someone. A few minutes later my husband came back to the shoe department where I was sitting and after waiting ten minutes there was still no one. We decided to leave and headed to the cash register where the staffer was still waiting on the same customer. My husband said to the staffer that no one ever showed up and he was really disappointed in the service and that they were losing a customer. All the staffer could say was 'sorry.' As we made our way up the escalator and through the perfume department I decided to ask a perfume staffer who could I complain to? I told her there was no one downstairs in any of the menswear areas and did she know why there was no staff. She said she didn't know but gave me the store's phone number so I could complain to the manager. I told her I was amazed that there were so many staffers in the perfume department but then remembered Valentines Day was coming up. Made sense. A few days later I called the home office number (not the store number given) and complained to the customer service person who apologized, would send the info to the higher ups and asked for my telephone number for follow ups. It's Friday and so far I've not heard a thing. I looked online for reviews and complaints about Macy's and the info online said that over 3,000 staff were due to be let go and several stores would be closing down. Seems the reason why these stores are suffering from so few staff. Looks like shopping malls as well as customer service may soon becoming a thing of the past. read more

Customer service was awful, I bought shoes for my sister and when I received it it was bad and when I come here for return she tried to say you wear that shoes and we can't return it and she talked really bad to us . And then i called to for customer service this number (800) 289-6229 on 10:53am 12/06/2022 and they hanged it off right away no pick up the phone i thought that is mistake until i tried to call several time they tried to lock my number just because they dont want to hear the phone. Labor Day is a kicking holiday as far as holidays go at the mall. Whether it was Back to School, Labor Day sales or just a really drizzly day who knows but the mall was packed. I am a serious Macy's fan, if you are savvy enough to catch the right sales, promotions and deals. So on my last visit I knew they were having a killer men's Nike sale and stopped in. Even though the mall was hoppin', there were plenty of sales people on hand to help me find my size. The service was genuine and all realness, none of that up tight service you can get at other department stores! You can find a lot at the Macy's Backstage here. Obviously not as much as if you'd gone to a Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or Ross, but decent finds nonetheless. If you're into home decor or kitchenware, they have plenty of great deals. Clothing is so so, there's some accessories and designer shoes for good prices. As for the "white glove delivery", they didn't follow through on the procedures that were explained to me in the store. And they must say this a lot, because when he said "We only deliver, call the store if there's a problem" sounded rehearsed. This Macy's has the best dress selection in the Portland metro area but the way this store is layed out is not good. They should all have womens ready to wear and juniors on one level but instead they have it on two different floors. The restrooms are not the quality a Macy's restroom should be either. The cosmetics department has been disappointing too because they are stingy with perfume samples. I was gifted a 14k gold bracelet for my birthday last week. It had had a scratchy point and 5 days later it broke at that point. I went into Macy's with my gift receipt and they refused to do anything to make it right. They wouldn't exchange it or fix it with no charge. Another place I thought I would never be in, save for the women in my life. Had to buy a gift for my Sissy and found myself at Macy's. I was not in the mood to be at the mall, let alone The Women's Department but alas, I was. I love my Sister! I must keep going! No matter how I feel about the mall, in general! Why? Why am I here? Oh. My Sister. Focus.... First Floor Women's Dept. Found Men's Cologne near Women's Lingerie. No help. Found kids clothes but not what I was after! I was considering not getting her anything (cuz after walking around the women's dept. for what seemed like enough time for my soul to melt away, and I felt like ######## something!). I found the escalator and another sign telling me what I wanted was on the Second Floor. Awesome..... Wait for it..... O.M.Goodness. More women's things than I wanted to know about. Not a fan of shopping in general, and I only come here when coerced. The olfactory assault at the mall entrance with the perfume counter is enough to stop me from even trying to enter the store. Today my son truly needed help with a dress shirt, jacket and bow tie. They were understaffed with a long line at the check out. The woman who helped us check out was calm, friendly and efficient. She scanned a coupon to save us an extra $20. Hard not to appreciate that. I deferred the jacket purchase for another day because, aside from checking out, we never did get help. Today I was just looking at some of the rings at the jewelry counter with my mother and the older lady employee with very short curly grey hair and glasses behind the counter comes over and her tone was not friendly. Sounded like we were a nuisance for just looking. She proceeded to insult my earrings calling them ugly. She then proceeded to further insult me with, "I don't know what's wrong with you kids these days." Never have I ever been bothered like this as a customer. This Macy's isn't the Bon Marche. And although, I miss the Bon Marche stores that I shopped at in the 1990s... mostly I miss 1990s prices... Macy's at Clackamas Town Center is much better for dresses... all sizes, jackets, winter items, and designer jeans in my opinion. There wasn't a long line at the Macy's the last time my spouse and I were shopping. My spouse said... he'd already smelled the perfume.... so I didn't stop and look around. There were a few people returning items at the specialty counter. And there weren't any shoppers without a handbag that I could see (women). There was one creepy older pasty man waiting for a companion near the dressing rooms in the women's section downstairs.... but my husband was standing beside me and I felt comfortable shopping the half off sale. Most of the out of state shoppers didn't have a bag with them... but a shopping bag at Macy's costs only five cents. There is an option at each register to use your Macy's gift card.... I checked. And,... there were two backpack style handbags in the middle of the store. I don't usually do this, but I was so upset to find out that 4 days before Christmas my order was CANCELLED?! I happened upon the news while tracking the package that was taking forever. I spoke to a young man who struggled a little to find the words. First there was confusion about my address- but I had one piece of the order already. He then says the items are no longer available. Best Customer service ever I've got at any Macy's store before. Christopher from Impulse Beauty department has an exceptional customer service. He's welcoming and extremely helpful and polite. He greeted me while I was walking into the clothing department where I wanted to shop at to begin with. I saw him greeting everybody who was entering the door, which made me comfortable to come back and check out his department as I felt curious about his positive energy; I could sense that the products that's just around his as good and positive as he is. I really didn't need anything but as he showed me around the BlackFriday deals, I couldn't help but to grab those deals that he's recommending. The samples were an exciting deal to purchase more products to try out. I'm exciting the door and really feel good about what I just bought beside I have a great shopping experience at this Macy's location location that I promise to come back next weekend. Literally, if everybody's carry out Chris's customer service positive attitude, people will go out of the way to make Macy's store a second home. There's nothing feels better than feeling welcomed. One thing the workers at Macy's were always known for is getting you the best deals or discounts possible. This has been lost in the past few years as the employees don't really seem to care as much, so I have begun to shop more at places like Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and TJ Max. I wanted to buy a pair of shoes in addition to my suit pants but based on staffing the shoes must be decorations because nobody works their Either. This store (at least this location) is THE biggest joke. It is a huge department store full of anything you really would need while shopping at the mall, however there is zero customer service. You walk in and there are hardly ever any employees. Tons of check out customer service desks but no one to check you out so even if you want to buy something here you have to run around through departments trying to find someone to give your money to. Then when you find someone, odds are they don't want to be there and will show you that through their laziness and unfriendly or unhelpful attitudes. Last weekend my fiancé wanted to buy a pair of $90 shoes and there was no one to be found. Plenty of customers and we're all just looking around at each other confused and lost. People needing shoes brought out in their size were left without help in a vacant shoe section. The man we finally tracked down wasn't happy when we asked him to get the shoes in the size we needed (poor him) and took probably 5-8 minutes in the back before finally bringing them out. Because he was the only man to be seen in the store, he was the only one helping us and we were stuck waiting on him when we should have just been in and out. It was excruciating. As a teenager I had a pair of $200 jeans from here and went to return them a few months later because they ripped in an odd spot. The ignorant employee asked for my mother's social security number to do the return even though she had the proof of purchase through the Macy's account. Then she tells me that jeans shouldn't last longer than 3-4 months and I wasn't able to return them. It is so asinine I can't even describe how I feel. Customer service is horrible, you can never find any employees to even purchase anything, and their policy is terrible. Compare all of this to Nordstrom and it is no contest. It's not a shock Macy's is a notorious spot for shoplifting..I'd imagine it's easy to walk out of a vacant department store with anything your arms can carry, considering you have to hunt someone down just to make a simple purchase. read more

I specifically avoid department stores at all cost. If I'm at a mall, I will not park at Penny's and walk through the store to get to Barnes & Noble. I will not. I will park, and then walk in through a normal mall entrance. That's how much I dislike the department-store experience. But seeing that I was with someone else, I sucked it up and parked and walked through Macy's. Now, since Macy's has taken over Meier & Frank, the store has seen major facelifts. I walked in and all I could think was, "Oooh! Shiny!" because the floors were literally sparkling. This location has a huge makeup and beauty section, and lots and lots of clothes that look adorable. And you can usually find really good deals on purses and shoes here, too. But, seeing that I'm far from normal, and was looking for a dress, this place just didn't do the job. Even if all the styles they offered came in women's plus, I probably still wouldn't like them. I found two dresses I actually liked, but for the style, they were too long, or not cut right, and I ended up leaving empty handed. So the dress search continues, and I'm feeling pretty dubious. And by the way, thanks a LOT for making me look for clothes smothered between men's and bikinis. Yeah, that's real cool. read more

Macy's makes me tired and I don't know why. The only potential explanation I have is my deep-seated association of the east coast department store with the annual telecast of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. It's a time for pajamas, pastries, and laziness in preparation for the tryptophan fest later in the afternoon. So when swinging by the store I can't help but drag myself through the departments over the two floors as I try to keep my eyes open. I don't remember this being the case when it was Meier & Frank, a darker, more dismal (remember the forest green carpets and wood paneling?) version of essentially the same merchandise. But somewhere along the line things changed... or I did. And although my admiration will forever sit with M&F, I am glad to see a few of Macy's touches here. The junior's department is easy to browse. It's organized, tidy, and lacking both crumpled piles of clothing and overbearing top of the charts pop music. Prices are on the medium-high level, a little more than other department stores, but nonetheless plain to see on the tags. I always know how much of my paycheck I'll be blowing, and I've even been surprised to find out on a few occasions that prices are actually lower than marked. While racks and shelves are often stuffed way too tightly with apparel, it usually means that the sizes I need are there. The same can be said for the petite department, where my short stature can usually find an outfit that doesn't resemble anything belonging to a tiny grandmother. I like that I can get help if I need it from one of the nice sales associates, but am otherwise left alone to browse. I'll give credit where credit it due, someone somewhere in this store knows how to put together displays, they're tastefully done and never overpowering in terms of color or pattern. Macy's has a signature "shiny and bright" look, which can be a little much to take. While it reminds me more of a sterilized hospital ward instead of a chic hospitable store, maybe that's their trick to getting northwesterners who are used to the gray and overcast skies to perk up and happily shop away. We've gone here several times, especially in the past year. Initially, they had two fitting rooms open. After the number of covid cases spiked, they closed all of their fitting rooms and never reopened them. That's while their competitors all have at least one fitting room open and even with the number of covid cases having already dropped. Their excuse is always because of covid, but even their employees can't answer why they still keep the fitting rooms closed even when the number of covid cases has decreased a lot. We will be taking our business elsewhere to their competitors because we live far away and do not have the time to buy items and return them, and need to make sure everything we buy fits first. At this point, even though all their main competitors have fitting rooms open, Macy's still refuses to open any of theirs. read more

I spent over $10,000 in just jewelry over the holidays. The staff was completely uneducated, which I will forgive because everyone is short staffed and looking for employees, however, I needed my rings sized and it's been almost 12 weeks and they are not back yet. I got some back but they didn't fit. I haven't gotten my certificates of authenticity in the mail yet, they lost one of my pieces, and charged me multiple times fir the same item. I call the CC division and got rerouted to every department within Macys. Everyone promised to fix the issue but it still isn't resolved from November 20. I lost hundreds of star rewards and still it hasn't been rectified. I'm beyond frustrated and only shop there because of the perks which I was robbed of anyway.
