absolute insanity!!!!! i was followed by one of their lpo, he attacked me as i was exiting the store and tried accusing me of stealing my very own belt i arrived in!!!!!!! i was cooperative untill this lpo took it too far thinking he could take my phone, try to cuff me to a bench & lock me in a small room as he looked the through my personal bag. i demanded the police before handing the guy my belt for him to see it was not even a new belt!!! it was a (vince cumoto) belt i had worn walking into that location & had purchased 4 months prior @ a local tjmaxx!!! after police arrived they decided to restrict me from going on any macy's property and required me to provide a receipt to get my belt returned!!!! thank god for tjmaxx & their crew for pulling through! not even an apology for telling my minor children that their mother was a thief & to get a cab hours away home!!!!!!!! unbelievable! read more

I've frequented this location for years, and it has something for everyone & while it at times gets overwhelmingly busy in the apparel department around the holidays (good luck waiting for assistance close to Easter or Christmas, come early or you're in for a long wait) Incredible selection of suits, Boss & Ralph Lauren and other premium menswear - and upstairs a wonderful selection of shoes, clothes and such that my wife loves. A dear friend of mine sent me some new clothes from Macy's. She ordered them at their online store. Unfortunately, they were all too big, so I took them to the Cheektowaga store on Walden Avenue to return. I had the 2 worst store employees trying to "help" me. Neither one knew what they were doing. I kept telling them, here is the order number, look it up on your computer. They told me that they could not do that since I was not the original customer. Finally, after 35 minutes, a manager came to my rescue. She took care of it in 5 minutes. My friend will be getting her money back. Customer service online galleria Mall was horrible. The woman was extremely rude. I was the only one in line and she completely ignored me, ripped up boxes, Then went into the back room while I was standing right in front of her. Stopped in on Black Friday to use a gift card. They had a great "door buster" deal on winter coats, they were 60% off! Even though no additional coupons applied, it was worth it with the gift cards. The experience looking at coats and trying them on wasn't enjoyable. There was a large beeping sound in the department that without exaggeration, no one took care of for 20 minutes. Finally 2 people came over and found the source of the beeping, I guess it was because coats were unplugged from their security mechanism? I know Black Friday can be a madhouse but I think it's wrong that no one in the nearby departments did anything to try and assist. I wonder how often this happens... There also wasn't anyone tidying up the jacket section, so there were coats that weren't on hangers, etc. It was difficult trying on coats without there being anything near the mirrors to set down my coat or purse. It would've been beneficial if there were also more mirrors too since there was only one dressing room and the door was closed the entire time I was in the department. read more

But the customer service has just been awful lately... so while walking through Macys to get to the nail shop I noticed they were having a little sale on fragrance... so of course I stopped the 1st women who noticed me worked for juicy but I wasn't Really looking for that , I wanted either Libre or Carolina Herraha so the women who worked that counter was busy with someone so I just hung around waiting patiently, but when she was finished wit the lady she just left from behind the counter, I'm like oooohkayyyyy so I still hung around I kept trying to make eye contact but she was busy ignoring me , she was at another counter now, apparently looking for something. Mase-y sells spray that will disable an assailant, or just someone you don't like. Then the disoriented men will be "paraded" by the cops at the Macy's Day Parade. So think twice before you harass a customer of Macy's. I came here with my out of town friend just a couple of months ago when she asked me to take her in every single store. I liked the temperature of the store and the large selection. The prices and service were not great. There wasn't anyone to answer the questions she had about a few of the outfits. She says that she doesn't like this store anyway. Personally, I'd had decent experience in other Macy's but this one was not so great. I like a lot of what this store sells, but I don't like the prices, nor do I like the thick cloud of perfume you have to walk through if you walk in through the out-door, Prince style. And I don't like the politics of Macy's either, so all in all, they score 2. This might sound weird but if a high end store could have a "small town" version it would definitely be this one. The store is large, has a nice selection but has a lot of conservative and mid range clothes. You'll see the usual suspect of brands but they're lacking some of the higher brands you may see in larger cities like NY, SF, etc... Macy's always has ridiculous deals on their clothing with sales throughout the year but to me the selection always seems somewhat limited. read more

Usually shop at Walden Galleria Macy's, despite the fact that there is usually no one to help you, even prior to COVID. Went today to find some new fall clothes & did my shopping. They have some really great clothes & good deals. The manager even told me "there is a changing room right around the corner". Great! Went into said changing room & within minutes, the same lady is knocking on my door because she didn't know anyone was in there. Weird. Tried my clothes on & left two items in the dressing room to grab a different size. Came back & the same manager stopped me at the door saying she now needs to count my items(?) Just very bizarre. She came into my dressing room & took everything else I had even though I was planning to purchase. Oh well, made the decision easy for me then! Finally, going to check out is a nightmare. The staff they have is just standing around. This isn't a Labor problem either because back in 2015 this was still the case & they haven't made any changes. Walked around the store looking for A. A checkout table B. An employee to check me out. Hopefully they can solve these problems because I do very much enjoy shopping here, but slowly I'm finding other places to go. read more

Macy's just announced that they're closing locations, so customer service is in a catch 22 situation. Would it be natural for staff to be surly if they worry that their store is closing? Well, Walden Galleria's Macy's surprised us when we tried to check out with a men's wear purchase. Went to one cashier who shook her head and told us she was only there for Levi's. Went to another cashier who finished the customer in front of us and then told us she was on break and left! Finally lined up with a 3rd cashier who seemed to determined to have me apply for a Macy's card. After I told him, no, for the 3rd time, he gave me this look as if he realized he had asked too many times. Disappointing experience - Macy's customers deserve better service! This is one of the only Macy's left in the area, sadly. This store has a good selection with high quality brands, however the state of the store is a bit sad, with high ticket items strewn across the floor. To find a matching pair of shoes would be a miracle, however the service has always been friendly and helpful when looking for something. read more

Since last summer, Macy's has moved their plus size department to the very back corner of the store on the ground floor. One benefit to the move is that you can actually feel the air conditioning now, whereas upstairs it feels like the heat is running. I was super disappointed that this department is so isolated now but I will try not to make an issue out of it (hiding the fat people now, are we??). With the move of this department, it seems as though the target audience for clothing has changed. There are far more old lady fat clothes down here than there were upstairs. The brands geared toward younger women are very limited and like 1/4 of the selection of what they once had. Fortunately I found my preferred brand and fit of jeans and they happened to be on sale. Otherwise, there was really nothing much for me here, as a young plus size woman. Boo. Another one bites the dust! read more

Came here yesterday with Brad to register for our wedding. Side note: This review is based only on the wedding registry experience. I do not shop at Macy's normally. It was very easy to get started on a registry here. Matt was super helpful with explaining what we do. I let Brad be in control of the scanner and we started! I will say, it was busy and took a long time. Even after, there were things I said "oh I forgot to look for that!" The kitchen section was the best part! One thing I wished was that they did china sets. Something like "4 plates, 4 bowls, and 4 cups" instead of having the possibility of only receiving a set of 1. WOW Sorry if I am interfering w/your PRIVATE PHONE CALL just Bcause I want to go to the bathroom! AND (overweight) male in linen dept could BARELY B BOTHERED to answer my query about looking for a matelasse coverlet. Just looked over & said 'no' with his surly face. This review is based solely on the customer service at this Walden Galleria location of Macy's. I haven't purchased anything from this particular Macy's since Material Girl was released - eons ago - but the service here is like night 'n day in comparison to our Sears or even The Bay! At Sears, the salespeople literally hide and avoid eye contact at all costs so they don't hafta help you. In some departments, it's not rare to not find a soul in sight and as a customer, you're forced to encroach on another department to BEG for help. It's really pathetic, and to me, it's no mystery as to why they're closing up shop! Sears' customer service is simply non-existent...unless you're buying $$$ home appliances, then they're all over you like a rash! Commissioned staff?? Anyway, as soon as I walked into Macy's, I remembered that my bf was on a hunt for a winter coat, in which I said to him, "Wonder where the men's department is?" and literally TWICE, 2 DIFFERENT STAFF MEMBERS, yelled out, "It's downstairs, left of the escalators!" Very helpful. I didn't hafta look behind posts or get the "I don't work in that department" attitude which was appreciated! Sears or other large Canadian stores can learn a thing or two from retail American chains. read more

On August 24th I ordered the Fossil Ryder Satchel on Macy's.com. What I received was a bedazzled velvet clutch, which did have the Fossil Ryder Satchel label on it. I just figured it was a simple error and wanted to return/exchange it. No problem. It's happened before, it will happed again. However, what transpired after was not only appalling, it was, deceitful and just bad business practice. On 9/2/2018, I returned to the store to return the purse that was sent to me. I even joked with the woman and said, "I think this is the universe's way of saying I have too many purses." I thought everything was fine until I checked my credit card account yesterday and discovered that the credit never was applied. I looked on my Macys.com account and found that the return was canceled. Obviously very confused, I called the 1-800 number, and they stated I would need to call the store. I called the store and to my astonishment, they said, "we don't sell that purse at the store, you have to come and get it." Speechless. Not only did they put the charge back onto my card, no one attempted to reach out to me to explain the situation. Amanda, the manager stated, "we were just waiting for you to come back into the store." Again speechless. So yesterday evening, I went into the store and spoke with Andy, on of the store's managers, who stated "Macys doesn't sell this purse" (the one sent to me by Macy's.com) and even went so far as to imply that I was being dishonest. I can tell you in 39 years, I have never been accused of being a thief. To say that I was insulted was an extreme understatement. I don't know what happened at the warehouse that sent my purse and why I received something that apparently isn't even sold by Macy's. I do know, however, that my situation has been handled in a manner that is mind-blowingly terrible. The 1-800 number has agreed to credit my account in the amount of the purse. I will be sending the purse back today. However, this does not conclude this issue for me. I do want an apology from Amanda for the mishandling of the return and especially Andy, who implied I was a thief. I will also be sending a complaint to New York Consumer Protection, because it is fraudulent and deceitful business practice to put a charge back onto a consumer's account without their knowledge and without returning the merchandise. I will also be filing a complaint with Maryland Consumer Protection, (where the purse was shipped from) as someone switched out a purse that according to Andy, isn't sold at Macys and sent it to me. I went to Macy's today with my mother and cashed out at different registers, since there is so many departments and so many different items. At one of the departments I cashed out at, I was very upset with the service. When checking out, my mother asked if there was a coupon. The worker, Samantha, afterwards spoke under her breath to her co-worker friend that was standing next to her and also laughed. She was no helpful, nor was she kind to us in any way. We used to shop at Macy's all the time and we came here to find my wife a suit for work- one of the absolutely worst shopping experiences ever. I don't know what has changed over the past couple of years in which a customer is an inconvenience and should be treated poorly by the staff! Seriously what happened to customer service! This is nice is Macy's at the Galleria Mall. I stopped in the shoe department. It was quite busy but I still got great customer service. One of the employees introduced himself to me and gave me his name and asked me for my name. I've never had this experience at any other shoe place that I went to. Usually they are some anonymous employee and they don't care what your name is. But at Macy's I felt like I was getting a personal shopping assistant. Too high end for me. While doing some Christmas shopping ( mostly for me! ) I wandered in here. I wanted to check out some fragrances but the women working the fragrance/ makeup counters were like starving vultures waiting to attack. The Clinique counter was the worst to get past. I appreciate people wanting to help but after walking 10 feet into the store and hearing 15 " can I help you's" it was getting annoying. I eventually bought a gift card but ironically they had pretty much no one working in that part of the store. I stood at a "fine Jewelry" counter for quite a while during which one woman working behind the counter never even acknowledged me...I was afraid I would have to walk back to the land of the vultures to pay for this gift card. After two more counters I finally paid for the card and split. I am clearly not patient enough or rich enough to shop here. Pass. read more

I made a purchase online in Canada and needed to return it to the store- I had called ahead of time and the person that I was speaking to over the phone assured me it wouldn't be a problem, it may just take 5-7 business days to show up as a return on my card. So, off I went to the closest Macy's which it's far only about 30 minutes and cross the border. I was waiting in line there was a lady in front of me returning clothes with no tags on them and all looked like they had been wore-cashier didn't give her a problem at all. That's okay fine, I get to the register and she was super nice to me until I told her I was coming from Canada to return and she got so snippy with me- it was like night and day, how fast her attitude changed to me. I explained to her that I had called, etc., She proceeds to call a manager and the manager comes over and was just as rude, she takes the packing slip and says to me "if your so smart- you would see here it says that, international orders can not be returned to the store". Okay, that is fine- I never said I was smart and I was only following the instructions of the guy who I had spoke with on the phone and I didn't really get what the attitude was all about. This Macy's will never get my business again, and Americans should appreciate cross border shoppers because we are boosting their economy by spending money in their country- which is creating jobs for them. read more

Totally upset at Macys. I paid off my balance and they keep trying to charge me 30$ late fees. I explained I paid it off in December. They state I was charged late fees. I said how could I be late if I have a zero balance? They charged me interest on my account- they never actually billed me or informed me of it. I am now trying to get it resolved on the phone. I had already resolved it two months ago- or so I thought. I now see another 30$ charge. I have been on hold for about five min now while they look into it. Hoping I don't get hung up on or forgotten about. So- after several more minutes I got resolve. A wrong code was used to fix it last time- so now it's zero balance again. I can check my April statement to be sure it is really done. Nice customer service person. Hopefully the issue is resolved now for real! Gee wiz! I'd have thought that when I paid it off the representative would have seen any pending late fees or interest being charged. I was told thank you for paying it off to a zero balance that day. Lately, I really only shop Macy's sometimes for Coach items at a discount, which go through strange pricing schemes like much of their higher end items. It seems you can only use a coupon on a few mid-level brands, but only if they aren't already an "Everyday Low Value" or on clearance already. Sometimes the stars align and I can get a discount PLUS a valid coupon on Coach, but that is like twice a year, if they don't jack up their sale price before the sale, and you have to pay a $5 donation for the coupon. Their online inventory for the stores isn't that accurate, either. Saw online said a bag was not in any of the Buffalo stores, but found it in the Galleria (but not on sale) an hour later right after they opened. Prices online vs. store usually not the same. At Coach counter, only had about 5 bags, 10 swingpacks, and 10-15 wallets on discount, all locked up/behind the counter. Sometimes, there are whole racks out in the open. Anyway, I am always one to hit up bargain racks in particular while I am there, but this Macy's is so disorganized. I think I went to three different clothing brand/style areas and when looking at my size in the sale rack, I found one of that size and everything else was a messy mish-mash of every other size. This was 30 minutes after opening on a big promoted sale day. You could hardly see the items, there were so many on the rack, and it wasn't worth even looking. Most items seem pretty cheap and way out of style for most people. Some associates seem to be working hard, but others chatting about why they are "so sick and shouldn't even be here" to other employees or lazily hanging up clothes, talking loudly to a friend who has stopped by passing through. Maybe if you can't find something specific like black pants or a winter coat this might be the place, but for casual browsing shopping, save your sanity and go somewhere else. read more

This is the first time I have written a review about a department store; but, after yesterday and today, I must. I placed an online, store pickup order from Macy's and on 11/6, I received an email saying it was available for pickup. On 11/7, I drove 16 miles to pick it up. I then spent 25 minutes standing there while 2 people looked for the package. I did not have my order number with me, but they took my id info and phone number and said they didn't have it. They looked in 2 separate spots and called to see if someone picked up the "mail" today. After 25 minutes, I was told "to go home to get the order number". I was not going to drive another 32 miles round trip to find out the pkg. wasn't there again. So today, I called and spoke to Tony the store manager, who said, "We found it; but, you left, we thought you'd come back." Yes, I left, because I was told to leave after 25 minutes of standing there waiting. Tony said he would put it on his desk and to tell the clerk that's where it was. I got there, waited again, while they called Tony. Tony never came out to greet me, instead sent someone to bring the box and she told the clerk, "this is from Tony". Not much on follow through or customer service. I had to go all the way to the center of the store to even find a person to ask where the "AT YOUR SERVICE" desk was.
