After complaining about my bucket seat, I was called by Paul in their other shop. He was very helpfully and wanted to solve the problem for me. He stripped the seat. I repaired the frame and he put the cover back on. Problem solved. read more

Worst experience I've ever had! This story is long and I apologize but just wanted to get my experience with this business out there! Good luck. I only dealt with one person in their shop. I contacted her by email and emailed some pics of a black leather recliner that had a section torn out because of a dog. I wanted that section repaired. She said she would be able to repair it but it would have to be in between jobs but my repair was such a small job she could fit it in. She quoted me about 3-4 hours of labor plus the material for the seat portion. I agreed.I came into her shop to pick out the material that she would be using to replace the seat portion. We met and she seemed to be competent. I told her I needed to find a truck for transportation. She told me that all recliners back portion separates from the seat portion just by unscrewing some bolts. No problem, I got the seat portion of the recliner in my car, so I dropped it off at the shop in Ballard which is 25 minute drive from West Seattle. 2 weeks after dropping of the chair I called to find out the status.She said the material should be here today so I can work on it this week. A week went by and I didn't hear anything from her. The next weekend is Memorial Day weekend and I had relatives visiting for the weekend so I needed my recliner back. At this point it had been 4 weeks. I called her on May 26 and told her I needed the recliner. She said we really didn't agree on a date it would be completed. Which is true but from our phone conversations I assumed it would be ready by the weekend. She said it's disassembled but just needs to have the new material sewn on. I told her I would take the chair as is and have someone else finish the repair. She said she would come into the shop tomorrow morning, Saturday May 27, just to finish my recliner. She told me they are normally closed but she wanted finish my recliner. She gave me her cell number since she wouldn't be answering the shop phone. She said she needed 3-4 hours so that would be around noon, which was good because my guests would be arriving around 2pm. I called around noon on Saturday and the call went straight to voice mail. I had an uneasy feeling. I went to the shop hoping that she would be there like we had discussed on the phone. The shop was closed. I called her once again on her cell and she told me she was at home! I told her about our arrangement we had discussed the day prior. Her quote "I don't know what to tell you, it's not done."!!! I told her I wanted the recliner and I would take it as is. She said she would work on it and call her in 3-4 hours, which meant she hadn't worked on it at all, and she would deliver the recliner to my house in West Seattle. I agreed. Around 6pm I called and she said the recliner was still disassembled. She then said I only brought her the seat portion instead of the whole seat. I told her that's what you instructed me to do! She said she couldn't assemble the seat and that someone in her shop has to do that. She then told me she would call in a favor and have someone work on the seat this weekend. I called her Tuesday, May 31 and told her I will be by on Friday, June 3 to pick up the recliner. She said she was waiting for some hardware to arrive to put the seat back together but will be done by Friday. Now, that told me that they had broken something. I called Friday morning and she told me to come pick it up. When I arrived, I didn't feel like chatting. I was cordial but not talkative. I told her to get the bill while I put the seat portion in the car. I should have taken my time to inspect the seat. At this point, I felt I shouldn't have to pay the full price of the repair, so I was going to discuss a reasonable compromise. I asked her what the final bill was and she told me to just leave! So I left without saying a word. When I got home I put the recliner back together. The stitching was already ripping where she had sewn the new panel to the rest of the seat. The velcro on the back side of the seat is gone. There is one tear on the back of the seat. The worst part...The recliner doesn't recline! I guess the hardware didn't come in and she didn't tell me about it. So my recliner is now a chair! I called the shop and asked to speak to the owner or manager. I just wanted to tell them about my experience. They took down my info and told me someone would call back. No one called. I guess I have to find someone to repair the repair. read more

Mac did a great job on the cushions for my new kitchen nook. Their designer worked with me on fabric choices and had a great eye for what would work. Although I was promised they would be done by Thanksgiving they were a couple weeks late. But the quality is great and I have had rave reviews on the work. read more

I had an enormous water leak and got as much as 2-3 inches of water on the floor when it rained. Mac's found the problem within 30 minutes of dropping the car off, had a very reasonable quote, got the part within 24 hours (1 full day sooner than they had estimated) and had me back on my way in no time. Based a referral by another marine business in Ballard I contacted Mac's Upholstery to fabricate a cover for a propane tank on my boat. Craig, who works alongside Dean in their marine warehouse, made a pattern for my tank and fabricated a very good looking and well designed cover for the tank for exactly the $100 price quote. They are very experienced marine canvas and upholstery professionals and I highly recommend them. read more

Detail guy nice fellow. They NEED to get him a real steam cleaning carpet machine to do interiors or stop telling people they do interior cleaning . Squirting cleaner and rubbing DOES NOT Work. Charging 150.00 for just interior is nothing more than a "rip-off" Truck did not look or smell better after . Have had dozens of vehicle's done over the years and this the worst job ever. Partly my own fault as I asked the fellow where his steam cleaning carpet machine was when I walked in and was told he did not have one. Asked how he got the carpet ,headliner and cloth seating clean I was told no issues as he had a system. Should have gone with "gut" and gone to a proper shop for interior cleaning. read more

Wish I would have read these reviews before I used this place. Totally overpriced, no customer service. In fact, the rude owner changed the price on me when they delivered my furniture. Not only that, but the quality of work was poor and they even scratched up my exposed wood legs ruining my expensive furniture. I'm not sure how they are still in business? They upholstered our boat, the cushions were either to big, to small or did not fit. I had the owner over to see the job, thinking he would make everything right, but he told me I was to picky!!!!! Paid Mac's about triple what it cost to have it redone elsewhere. One of the worst experiences as a customer no exaggeration. Everything started out fine, lots of promises, easy going discussion and reassurance that our piece of furniture would be in good hands. They gave me very clear price expectation and just kept urging me to go ahead and drop it off and not to worry. I took very detailed notes on the price/cost/labor to expect for this work It took twice as long as we were promised and when I called to follow up I was greeted with an employee that sounded irritated that I was curious about the time line. They also complained about their personnel issues and unreliable employees. Not the kind of information you want to hear as one of their customers. When it was finally done, and they gave me the price, it was 3x's as much as what we were initially told to expect. I was shocked and asked for clarification and understanding how it would happen and why had no one called me to ask if that was ok. They became incredibly defensive and was rudely told that I just "didn't pay attention" when I spoke with them. I was very clear on my initial phone call that if the cost exceeded $xxx that it was not worth paying a professional. The piece of furniture was a family heirloom so it has sentimental value, but no real value as a chair. For sentimental reasons, we of course wanted it back. Things quickly went further down hill. I am pregnant and this particular chair is going in our nursery. When I attempted to have a conversation with the owner I was greeted by a very defensive individual that proceeded to yell at me and insult me. He told me that his business has virtually no "come-backs" so they have to charge a premium. (meaning, he knows he will never see you again and why not hold an heirloom for ransom) He would not stop yelling, and I had to end the phone conversation as it was very distressing. Before I got off the phone he demanded cash for it and told me "at this point, I will only accept cash so you better bring cash when you come to get it". He even wrote "CASH ONLY!!" on our invoice. We were not trying to avoid sales tax and were not willing to give him cash, so we paid with a debit card so the transaction was on record. These people were incredibly rude. Who yells at a pregnant woman? Quality of work, it looks pretty, but does not look like they did what they "claimed" to do and warrant such an incredibly exorbitant price. If you have money to burn and want to do business with someone that is dishonest and clearly is not worried about return business, then good luck to you! Unfortunately, it was the only negative part about putting our baby's nursery together. It took something that we were excited about and turned it into something very upsetting and beyond our budget by a long shot. read more

My experience went from bad to worse. They charged $80 an hour to put a sprinkler on the roof to determine where the minor leak was. An extremely minor one. After the seal was repaired, I went to pick up my car only to find someone drying the inside of the car with towels and fans. Turns out that after the seal was replaced, they did the sprinkler test again, but forgot to roll up the windows. So water had just been pouring into the car. When I expressed my concern, the initial guy was very apologetic and kind. When I asked if I could get a discount of 5-10% (insides were still sopping wet), the guy said he would need to ask his boss. I'm standing at the counter when an older man walks in, and after the situation is explained the boss states "She wants a discount for that? Didn't she bring this in because it was already leaking?" in a very sarcastic tone. I'm maybe five feet away from the two of them, and no one else is in the building. When mentioning that I brought my car in with a small leak, and was getting it repaired to avoid water damage inside, yet his company caused a large amount of water to get dumped inside, the "boss" was very dismissive. I think I finally got a 5% discount. Although they did a good job of replacing the seal, the disappointing service will prevent me from ever going back. What a complete rip off and unproffesionalism? i walk in and they got my coffee table from the car to the garage, he tells me its gonna be $800 for just work on it plus material and taxes otherwise they put it back in my car. Mac did not even wait to hear what i had to say. I just looked at him quietly and he realized he was not nice and so he slowed down a notch. He goes on and tells me that the take the old sponge will coast $100.00 or else i take it and do it myself. i lost word and i just left and gave him my information, got home in less than 1 hr and my fiance told me to go ahead and just do it if i realy needed my pieace of table, i called him and told me oh we already finished taking it off and threw it away on dump star. I asked him its not even 30 minutes, you said will take 1 hr to remove, now im calling and u say you took it off already? so you are charging me $100 for 15 min? He was like i knew that was gonna happen. The following morning went back and brought my table to another person to put granite piece on it afer what he was showing me he would do with the table was not making any sense, i can not even reccommend anyone to this place because they are not professional, not respectulful and very judgmental . read more

I had these guys redo a deck lid off my ski boat recently. After consulting with them prior to the work and physically showing them what I had and what I was looking to get done I was quoted a hard number to get it done. When I came to pick up my piece I was shocked to learn that I was being charged a little over $100 more than originally quoted! When asked why the price had changed I was given the "stock" answer of labor rates, time and material and to quote the gentlemen "that's just how it worked out". As far as the work, it was top notch- my beef is the whole bait and switch trick. If I go to an auto mechanic and ask how much to swap out the motor in my car and he tells me he can do it for $1000 then that's the deal right? Not "well you know I had to pull this part and that part so it's really going to cost this much". NOT MY PROBLEM!!! Like I stated earlier, top notch work- really looks great but beware!!!! read more
