I was ripped off beyond comprehension and had major electrical damage done to my Truck a few years ago by Moe. The "repair" that was supposed to be done to my seat was pathetically bad and yet i was charged $3000 dollars for this. And no receipt was offered. And to add insult to injury they incorrectly hooked up my video system despite my telling them to leave it alone and i would make the connection myself. This action they took caused my entire system to burn up and Moe came outside and was yanking wires apart in an attempt to stop the damage. The cost to repair my video/stereo system was close to $4000 dollars! My experience here cost me almost $7000 dollars and then another $800 to have another shop do a correct repair to my seat. Called to ask if they would "re-seat" the 2-piece saddle on my motorcycle. No problem. The woman I spoke with was knowledgeable, patient and kind, and rides motorcycles too, so she knows what she is talking about. I mailed my seat to Rich's, and based on the 5 sample pieces I was sent to help with my material choice, I finalized my order. A reasonable time later, I received my reupholstered seat. The quality is beyond my expectations, exceptionally high. Wow. They aren't cheap, in fact, I'd say on the expensive side, but I don't know what their expenses are, and the quality is over-the-top. I had Rich reupholster the front seats of my 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser. They took some time to look for a kit which would have made it cheaper. They did not find one so they did them custom in the fabric I wanted and repaired the damage to the padding. At the time it seemed pricey to me. It has now been 2+ Years, the seats are great. The workmanship was high quality, I still do not see any issues and the repair to the padding was also excellent. I use to only be able to drive the car for 2 hours before I had to get out and flex my legs, I recently drove 9 hours with no issues. It is like sitting in a lazyboy. read more

I had my 2013 Red convertible top cut buy a homeless person . Mo heard it was a insurance job , was so excited to over charge my company . I figured that out later when they called me . $3500 for top repair . I said OEM .......I got the cheapest cloth they had . stay fast not twill fast ... ok now the best part the back window was 1 inch lower than the other side . then the mud shoe prints in my seats . the tool marks . they put there workin tools like it was there old dads car. a real shop is tops only in Kirkland . I went to Richs' to have a top made for my boat, Moe said he could get the job done in 2 weeks and hell have a guy come to me. $2800 and 4 months later this is the job Rich's put their name on. gave him 12 months to make it right. I had to pay a different shop and trade for a car to redo the entire top. This is what riches custom upholstery was willing to put the Rich's name on. My wife and I came to Rich's Custom Upholstery to get help with an older vehicle with tired upholstery and flooring. We've been reaching out to other vendors to address other issues such as curtains (it's a campervan!), electronics and body work. I suppose everyone is trying to get service from these vendors with different approaches. What we cared about most was quality work and materials - getting the results we wanted. We took delivery of our van from Rich's on March 4 this year. Since then, we've been shaking down the van, including the newly reupholstered seats and floor coverings. We think the fit and finish has turned out very well and is primarily why we give a 5 star rating. Moe is the proprietor and we think April was maybe his daughter working in the office. While Moe takes his work seriously and is a busy guy, he was open to answering questions and giving us the time we needed. We requested flooring material that was more plush than the existing flooring. The implications for fit and finish with drawers and doors on the cabinet and bench bed base was probably the largest source of anxiety for us. I know Rich had to disassemble the bench to get the fit and finish right. After two plus months of use, we are happy with full access to the drawers and cabinets. The seating upholstery has shown no signs of stretching or twisting. The heated seats Moe added are invisible in the upholstery fit. The material quality was a definite uptick from what we had before. We did have for us what was a minor flaw at delivery time. Dust from the job and being in the shop (we're guessing here!) covered the dash. Someone had started to clean it off with a rag, but hadn't finished - about half done. The interior on my 2000 BMW M5 was in terrible shape. There was a tear in the driver's seat and the sun had left most of the interior leather cracked and faded. Rich's Custom Upholstery replaced the torn driver's seat panel and then restored all of the damaged leather to nearly new-looking condition (much better than had expected given the original condition). Their estimates were accurate, the work was done perfectly on schedule and the people there are great to work with. Definitely recommended! read more

Can't say enough good things about Rich's Custom Upholstery. I originally went it to as they were a supplier for a seat cover manufacturer for my 70's Suburban. I wanted to match my front seat and they quickly ordered the seat cover from the manufacturer. When it arrive it didn't fit my seat. Moe at Rich's immediately started discussing the error with the manufacturer. In the end, he ordered the material and made the seat cover himself. It turned out exactly like my front seat and he went above and beyond and redid the arm rests as well. Through a few visits to the shop Moe and his crew in the shop were always good to work with. A few times during the fab his guy working on it called me to ask questions and make sure they did it right. Honest people, hard working, and true to their word. read more

The owner went out of his way to search eBay, etc for a replacement. Further, he devised a make-shift fix using a tool he had within his shop. This shop replaced my A3 headliner. Though Moe constantly compares their shop to the Audi dealership, their quality is nowhere near it. They overcharged me $400+, there are dirty smudges all over the light colored material from dirty hands not wearing gloves, not all pieces are replaced with proper seems or alignment, there was zero care to replacing personal items as they were found (everything was just tossed inside), and they left their dirty rags and tool bits all over the inside. One hour of labor was deducted, but it is a bad business practice not to honor the quote (nor to call with an update with increased cost). It's also poor practice to inappropriately handle light colored or delicate materials. It seems like a Knowhow101 to wear gloves when hands are dirty and working with light colored material. I also think they default charge 5 hours of labor, rather than actual time, to make their profit. The guy who did the actual work was nice and knowledgable, but I think the front office practices are sketchy. read more

After a few months and a few rains, not only did they overcharge me 1,000 dollars, but the leak that they fixed still leaks almost as bad as it did before they worked on it. They basically stole $1,700 from me.I would call to see if they would be willing to work with me on this, but I tried that when they overcharged me and Moe yelled at me and told me to talk to him in person. I would have explained that that's not feasible with my work schedule and the fact I live in south Seattle, but he hung up on me before I could say a single word. read more

This review is overdue from 2015: Watch out for Moe, older gentleman wearing fancy glasses apparently the owner. I brought in a Buick Apollo 1973 to get work done on the dashboard, headliner, carpet, among several other things. They claimed they would take of the car and keep it covered, one time when I showed up to get check in, the car was outside completely covered in bird poop. Not only did they cheat me out of thousands of dollars as the work was overpriced, but at the end they said they forgot to add tax to the quote. Things like the headliner and other work started falling apart less than a year later. This place is a real scam, do yourself a favor and go to a reputable shop. read more

Went to Rich's Custom Upholstery to have the seats in my '90 300zx redone. The original leather was cracking and severely worn after 22 years. Dropped off my car just before leaving for a weeks vacation so they could work on it while I was gone. Mo, the owner of the shop (apparently since 2009 or so) called to let me know that the leather we picked out (from samples earlier) was a shade lighter than the original seat color and wanted to know if I wanted to go with that or choose a darker shade. I really appreciate that he called *before* starting the seats and not surprising me when I got back! As it was I went with the originally chosen shade of charcoal based on his recommendation. The seats took a bit longer than I anticipated (2 weeks) but the result is really nice. Mo worked with me to understand what I wanted as well as adding an embroidered logo into the seat to really show them off! I needed to get my driver's seat cushion replaced. I didn't know what I needed or wanted, but I knew it would be expensive. Moe explained the options. I was pushing for a more expensive fix. Moe cautioned me out of it. He told me it wasn't necessary, and it would be a waste of money. He protected me for myself. So, Moe is an honest guy. He's also hilarious. I went to the shop on 3 occasions: initial consult, drop off vehicle, pick up vehicle. Each time was very pleasant, and I always laughed very hard. Kelsey, Chris and the rest of the team are great. I dropped off my car during a time I'd be traveling. Moe was nice enough to house my car for an extra 5 days after the repair while I was out of town. I highly suggest if you are going to use riches that you get an extremely detailed work order along with a fixed cost and payment schedule. Mo lied over and over again and never did get the top on my car fixed. The cost to me? Over 6000$. Unbelievable. The job was simple, replace the top on a vintage car. Mo tells me 3000$ and it'll be done in a week. Ok I pay him, 1 week mark he has an excuse, 2 week mark- another excuse. 3 week mark he needs more money. Wash rinse repeat until I'm into this job 6000$ with no end in sight.. This guy mo is a scumbag. I took it to another shop and the owner said to his worker, "Mo ripped off another one!" However, witnessing Moe simultaneously address the needs of three demanding customers with skill and commitment, I am convinced the problem does not lie with him. Yes, he is direct and outspoken but only because he knows his stuff and focuses on the critical challenge at hand. He provided more pertinent information to us in 20 minutes than we had accrued in 3 months in our search for information. He put our needs ahead of his own potential financial gain. I saw him do this repeatedly, not taking advantange of customers who were only too willing to spend whatever. He discouraged them from spending money on unnecessary items. Heated Seat Install Problem & Poor Customer Service Review I debated about leaving a poor rating for this business but decided after having recurring problems, leaving my feedback is a warning to other customers. I requested heated seats in my coupe, in the late afternoon when I was to pick up my vehicle I received a call that my car would not start. Here is the punch line, my car is "brand spanking new/built in 2015!" Mo the owner told me he did nothing wrong and he has attempted to do everything to start the car after installing the seats. Then he demanded my "OWN" Honda Roadside Assistance to have the vehicle towed to the dealer for diagnosis and repair! A few days later Honda called me and told me that Rich's: #1 Left out a fuel pump fuse #2 Drained the battery #3 Wires installed are loose and can get caught up in the seats airbag wires and also moving mechinisms. So, I paid the diagnosis and repair bill from Honda and then returned to Rich's Custom Upholstery for a refund, Rich at the time had a full lobby of unsuspecting customers, so out of being respectful I requested a refund quietly for the bill from Honda and also a few days of a rental car. He then has the nerve to state, he did not approve of a rental car, even though his associate stated they would cover a rental if it was their fault! Begrudgingly he wrote a check for the ordeal. Then a week later, the right heated seat won't work, so I return and he fixes the problem. Then a week later my seats are getting caught up on wires so I give up with Rich's and return to Honda who fixes the wire mess. Then a few months later... both heated seats stop working and the power windows, at this point Honda will not fix them as the system carries too much liability and they state that if I don't get them fixed properly my car will not be eligible for electrical warranty service as it has been screwed with too much! Then I find a reputable heated seat business and they remove all the bad wiring, incorrect gauged wires, blown fuses, improper routing of the wires, prove that they know what they are doing, and point out every single error Rich's made, that repair cost me and additional $200 which I happily paid to finally be done with the repair. Now I have working heated seats that I paid for $100% Rich's total damages caused: Roadside Assistance Towing from Honda "at least $200" Car Battery & Install "$150" from Honda $300 Repair Bill for their work "Paid by me on top of Rich's Cost of heated seats and install"! & Lastly a very pissed off dissatisfied customer! Solution, refund me everything!! read more

Moe was very responsive to my particular situation - he was patient and worked with me through a few tries to get it just right. Mo can be a little blunt at times, but he's a stand-up guy with a heart of gold. If you've ever seen him carrying on two separate phone conversations with different suppliers while simultaneously helping a customer in the shop to choose the best fabric for their car seats, as I have, you'd understand that he's an extremely hard-working and conscientious man who takes his work and his customers very seriously, even if he doesn't spend a lot of time on the polite formalities.
