I took an old chair to have the lattice under the cushion repaired and was told it would be around 250.00 to 300.00 and sure enough it landed right on the 300.00 mark. No big deal. My expectation on price was met. I brought it in right before Christmas so I knew it wouldn't get done right away but on January 30th I called to check the status and received a call back from Moe telling me that they had tried calling numerous times but got some weird rerecording that my phone wasn't working yet the first return call they made after my inquirey, went through. Odd? Whatever. I look past a lot because I'm in business myself and I hate to harp on little things so I never would have left a review based on my dealings thus far. I picked up the chair and asked Chelsea (I believe that was her name) why all of the staples were sticking out and why there was a crack in one of the pieces of would. She assured me that Moe would call me back but 10 days went by with no call. During this time I had finally gotten the cushions cleaned and touched up and the scratches cleaned up and set it in place. I sat down for the first time and the piece of wood that was cracked, complete broke rendering the chair useless. I called Chelsea again and asked why I had never gotten a call back and said "Oh that's my bad. I never gave him the message". At least she was honest. I told her the chair broke in the spot that was cracked and she told me that she had to get in touch with Moe so he could find out who worked on it. She called me right back asking for a picture which I sent later that day. That was more than 30 days ago. No call back. Seems to be their MO (no pun intended). Anyway I gave them 300 bucks and never even sat my ass in that chair. I've since given the chair to Goodwill who hopefully can fix it up and make it right for someone in need. I see that about 2/3 to the reviews were a 5 and about a 1/3 was a 1, no in between, so if you ever take your stuff to Rich's, and I wouldn't advise it, just know that it will be hit or miss. read more

Our car's sunroof's drain tube got kinked ... gah! The floor of our car was soaked under our floormats and we didn't know until that smell...that awful pungent smell. We went to a dealership to find and fix the problem, but were left with a moldy mildewy smell. We saw Rich's on Yelp and read the great reviews and emailed them to see if they could help....after a couple emails and a phone call, we took our car in. And a few days later, we got our car back...and sure enough, the smell is going away! We highly recommend Rich's for their attentive, friendly, thorough service!! read more

Take your business to a small business elsewhere. Moe was completely unethical and unprofessional with us. He raised his voice the moment he walked up to us, piled the job we dropped off beside the door on the floor, threw several hysterical fits, and repeatedly discriminated against the type of work my business partner does, saying there was no way they only had one table in their office, and no way they could see the number of patients they see. After paying upfront and requesting the job be finished at a specific date, no communication that the project would be late or that the shop was experiencing problems was received. Finally, we were told we could pick the table up 3 days after it was due to be finished, causing my business partner to rearrange their work schedule, which was booked several weeks out. While Kelsey verbally apologized several times, Moe refused to financially repair the damage, stating he had included a discount which my partner was never informed of prior, and that the table looked perfect. Never in my life have I been screamed out of a shop by a patronizing, unstable, and completely unprofessional business owner, who was completely unwilling to be accountable for a late job and lack of communication. While everyone has bad days, or weeks, or months, it was not our responsibility to take care of Moe's bad attitude, or to provide condolences that he was unable to effectively communicate or finish a job on time. I can't IMAGINE using my bad week as an excuse for unfinished work, late work, or taking my anger out on a patient, or paying customer of any kind. I would be fired immediately for reacting the way Moe did. After several discriminatory comments regarding my business partner's assumed gender and professional life, we left, with Kelsey running after us outside to apologize in place of Moe. No follow up call, as promised, was received. There is no excuse to behave the way Moe behaved and we are still in disbelief. UPDATE: this business owner is still making incorrect assumptions about my business partner's working hours and what their work week looks like based on what I assume to be a google search, a month after the incident. While we don't have the time to continue to argue with him, or assume we know what it means to be an upholsterer- we hope that in the future Moe puts the same effort into customer service that he does responding to negative reviews. A simple apology (which we did not receive) and acceptance of fault would have sufficed, rather than a lengthy and poorly researched continued assault. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE! I was personally referred to this business to have 7 small wood backed pieces reupholstered. I am a chiropractor and have a small clinic with only one table. It was agreed to by Moe and Kelsey that my pieces would be complete within 7 days so that I could install and return to work. I paid in full, up front. By the 8th day there was no communication and my family had to drive in because we couldn't get a call or email back (I was out of town) and I was told that the pieces are completely dissassembled and wouldn't be finished until Monday. I wouldn't be able to work. On Monday, Moe finally called to let me know the pieces would be finished around noon. He wouldn't discuss any monetary remedy and dismissed the fact that I had cancelled my day! When I arrived, I spoke with Kelsey and she took the blame. (As a side note, Moe had been present and I had spoken to him when I arrived to drop the cushions off. I remember him because he non-consentually grabbed my arm that had visible tattoos on it, which was incredibly uncomfortable and creepy to me, while jokingly telling me that he should have raised the initial quote because it had been a few months since we had emailed, so Moe was very much aware of the order and Kelsey was just taking the heat). She told me that they had actually "already given me a discount and that the cushions looked perfect." Moe inserted himself in the conversation and immediately became reactive. Moe rapidly escalated to near hysterics, began stomping around and carrying my cushions out the door and placed them near the door while I stood in amazement at the counter. He repeatedly shouted "f*ck" multiple times in varying sentences. He degraded me and my practice. I was questioned as to why I only have one table in my office. I was told that there's no way that I see the number of patients that I stated that I had to reschedule in a day (which is 20-25 and not unusual when you work an 8:30-7pm day!). I was accused twice of trying to "manipulate money out of them". I was in shock at this point and shaking but still hanging in there. Moe repeatedly screamed at me demanding to know "what I wanted so that I would leave"? I had been, and was still remaining calm, even though he had been hysterically stampeding around the front office and in out of the back room for 20 minutes, completely unable to control his emotions. I calmly said "I would like a $200.00 refund (which is far less then my financial and time loss). He said "f*ck no" and that that would be all of his profit loss. He then said "GIRL..." (kind of like when you hear people say "girl, you're out of your mind") and that's when I stopped him. I calmly told him "I'm not a girl" (my gender identity does not matter to this. If I did factor in my gender identity, it would make his next comment hateful and discriminatory but I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and not go there). The fact is first his comment was infantilizing as I'm 40 years old and second it's patronizing and unprofessional). Moe then stated "I don't care WHAT you are. I don't know your gender" (othering and discrimination based upon my appearance!) But he did apologize for calling me "girl", probably because Kelsey told him to "stop and that he didn't want to go there" because I think she knew his comment was high key discrimination). At that point, I shut down and decided to leave as I felt unsafe and decided that it was best that I leave. I walked out and was loading my pieces in the car when Kelsey came running out. She apologized again. At this point, there is nothing that can be done to remedy what happened to me at this business. I stated my needs and paid my bill. I was taken advantage of and then verbally assaulted. Moe used gaslighting, verbal intimidation and physical intimidation and then tried to turn everything around on myself and business partner. I URGE you to take your business elsewhere. There is zero excuse for the way that I was treated today and no one should ever have to experience that. read more

I really dig the mom and pop shops and even more so when they get it right. It's not fancy, the interaction isn't polished but they know their craft and the quality and value of their work is fantastic. The estimate, appointment, duration all went exactly as explained and the owner went over and above the call of duty by offering a ride to/from Starbucks a few blocks down the road while the work was done (I had my own work to do). read more

I thought Rich's would be the answer to some problems experienced by my girlfriend with an individual doing upholstery repair out in Bothell. I was wrong. Rich, or whatever his name is - the fast talking, short and bossy guy at "Rich's" - was very promising and gave me a good quote and said he would be in constant contact and personally look after the repair and enhancement of my girlfriend's car siding and sunroof. The quote was about $1200 - pricey, but I wanted my girlfriend finally relieved and happy in her car. All seemed well and we were off to a fine start. In the end, I hardly ever heard from "Rich", I was calling him and there was a lot of messaging through his frontdesk gal, he didn't take before and after pictures like he said he would, he didn't save the parts we'd asked him to, lots of details were missed, the job took 3 weeks, and he charged us double the quote, over $2500. I won't go back and I can't say much good about "Rich's". One star. read more

Very rude individual at front counter. All I wanted was a simple quote for some upholstery repair and he acted like I was asking the dumbest questions known to man. He refused to repair a small rip, instead opting to tear out the entire seat. He called his parts guy, then proceeded to go into a long personal conversation while I was just standing there, wasting my time.. He also told me that my other leather seat was also unrepairable and similarly needed to be ripped out. -Took the car down the street to a different shop and was offered a price to repair the leather rip, (minor job), they also offered to correct the second seat. Both of which Rich's declined to work on. -Learn customer "SERVICE" and be polite, not that hard. If you didn't want to do a job, fine, no reason to be rude. Went to Rich's Custom Upholstery to have multiple tears in the leather seats and trim from a '08 BMW 3 Series repaired. Moe walked me through the process and answered all my questions. He even took the time to give me a tour of his facility and other projects he and his team were currently working on. The repair work was done by Keith, and he did a fantastic job. You can't even tell that there was ever any damage to the leather. Excellent work! read more

This team was fantastic to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Moe, Bob and the whole team were friendly, helpful and on time/on estimate. I needed work done to repair my sweet but not smart little dog's chewing on three areas of my back seat leather. They perfectly matched the Acura leather, gave me an accurate estimate and we scheduled the repair. Even more helpful, they were able to remove the back seat and do the repair work at the shop while I continued to use my car and just scheduled a time to install the perfectly fixed seat. Finally a few minutes to write this review and do these folks justice! A few months ago I took my leather recliner to Moe at Rich's. Having seen them the month before with the chair, they had a game plan ready to go. I asked them to open up the back and really beef up the lumbar support as no recliner fits me correctly. What a great place to go to! Moe is quite the character and I mean that in the best possible way. He and the other gentlemen who worked on the chair worked fast, accurately and in concert like a veritable ballet! They were done and I was on the road much sooner than I expected to be. That was actually a bit of a disappointment as I was having a very good in the shop watching these guys "do their thing" and just enjoying the atmosphere. In how many places like that would you actually be a bit dissapointed to leave? If you need a place that does what it says it is going to do, is friendly and personable, works at a good pace but not so fast as to do a bad job and charges a very fair price, just pick yourself up and head on over to Rich's Upholstery! If you have mascochistic tendencies, go some where else and then- go to Rich's and get the job done right! Hey, writing this review makes me think of how much I enjoyed this place. I only gave Rich's a one star because you can't leave a zero. I took my collector car in for interior work, and I was sickened when I saw what they had done to my show car. The materials they used were cheap, I mean so cheap, that Wal Mart wouldn't sell sub-par material like Rich's used on my car. Their workmanship is pathetic... when it came to installing trim, instead of piercing the material and mounting it like the factory had done, they merely flattened half of the clips that hold it in place. Rich's will ruin whatever they touch on your car & then hold you items hostage until you pay their ridiculously over-inflated prices. My 1994 Mazda Miata was leaking again (!) and the old guy who fixed it long ago had retired. I remembered that a "top shop" was present on Aurora so it went down there earlier in the year to see what could be done. The guys were very knowledgeable and upfront with me about the difficulty getting these things to seal properly. Evidently the car needed a new "rain-rail" and it was a bit pricey, but I needed the car fixed so I went along with the deal. Initially it was dry and tidy but eventually it started leaking again so I brought it back for a look-see. Imagine my surprise when the guys fixed it for me and did not charge me a dime. Their opinion was that they stand by their work, and I am here to tell you that is exactly what they did. They must have done $500.00 worth of labor getting the top on my 24-year-old jalopy to fit perfectly, and they happily gave me the car back, totally dry. They even fixed my driver's side door liner that was getting a bit frayed. Now, I am one happy camper. It gives me a very good feeling when I come across a businessman willing to stand by his work. The crew at "Rich's Upholstery" are first rate and the quality of the workmanship is excellent. Sure, ragtops leak occasionally (it's Seattle) but I know I can count on them when the inevitable happens. read more

This is a different review because I actually did not bring in any work to be done. I was shopping for a used convertible. I have never bought a car without my dad or husband involved. My father-in-law became very sick and I went to look at a car by myself. There was a slit in the top that had been poorly covered up. Because my husband used to take motorcycle seats to Rich's, I called them to ask how much a proper repair would cost. After hearing that my father in law was sick, and I was on my own, the new owner of Rich's walked me through the ways to negotiate at a used car lot. He pumped me up, made me feel like I could do this. I actually walked away from the used car. It was so nice having a stranger look out for me. IF I ever get a convertible that needs a top repair, I will be at Rich's in no time. read more

My Acura MDX has leather seats with perforations on the center sections. The leather was getting old and cracked, and I paid Rich's to replace the perforated center section, and some of the side bolsters as well. When I got the car back, the perforations were not lined up correctly. Instead of the original orientation, they had turned the leather 45 degrees. Actually, they didn't even do that correctly on the whole job, as the passenger seat section was off about 5 degrees from the rest of the material. The side bolsters have accent stitching on either side of the actual seam. White thread was used instead of the original grey, and not all of the accent stitching was done. Several runs were missing. When the passenger seat was re-installed, some of the plastic trim was bent. When I pointed all this out to the owner, Moe, he agreed that everything I pointed out was indeed done wrong, and said he would re-do the work for free. He asked if I could wait a couple of weeks, as his employee was scheduled for vacation. I didn't mind, as I did have seats that worked. We agreed that he would call me to schedule a time to get the work done. After three weeks had gone by, I still hadn't heard from him. So I stopped in to see what was up. He said that he was just getting his backlog of work cleared out, and could I bring in my vehicle the following Wednesday, and that he should be able to have the work done in one day. When I brought the vehicle in, he said that he hadn't received the new perforated leather yet, and it might be a day or two until he could get it done. So apparently, even though he knew for several weeks that he was going to have to do the work at some point, he didn't bother to pre-order the leather. When I called on Thursday to see if the vehicle was ready, I was told maybe Friday, but possibly Monday. When I called Friday, I was told Monday. Monday afternoon rolled around, and when I called them at 4:30, they told me that the car was ready to be picked up. Upon inspection, they left a wiring harness exposed, and I noticed that both the headrest brackets were loose. When I asked about the brackets, I was told that two of the spring clips were broken when they took the seats apart. I never noticed that the brackets were loose, so I don't think that they were before they worked on the seats. Even if they were, I consider it negligence that they re-assembled the seats without at least mentioning the problem. They agreed to find out from the dealer what the cost would be to fix it, and give me a call. They said that they could replace the part easily when they were fixing the loose wiring. After a week and a half, I stopped in, and they showed me the paper with the part numbers, so they had found the part. And they said that they had called and left a message, but I never received one. At this point, I was pretty tired of poor work and no follow through, so I had them fix the loose wiring, and told them I would deal with the headrest bracket myself. Honestly, at this point, I didn't trust them to touch my vehicle. I gave them two tries at it, and they still couldn't get it done correctly. Needless to say, I will never have work done here again. read more

I am very surprised by the poor ratings of this business as I could not be happier with their amazingly quick and flawless repair as well as the customer service! Sure, Mo is blunt and to the point, but he's hilarious so lighten up people! I called on a Wednesday evening and reported that I had bent the metal frame in the pull down center console/cup holder so that it could no longer move up and down. I believe I spoke with Mark, who said they would need to take a look at it and to bring my vehicle by, which I did the following morning. I was greeted warmly and recognized as having called the evening before. Mo immediately came outside to look at the damage and indicated they could work on it (which involved removing the leather covering) and told me that they have it done by the end of the day, if I were able to leave the car. I said that I would call a co-worker and see if she could pick me up and Mo asked where I worked and mentioned he might be able to take me. Thankfully I work nearby and he kindly gave me a ride to work! Talk about going above and beyond! Not only did Mo take me to work, but also completely resolved my problem and for less than $200!!! The Ford dealer told me it would be over $1,000!!! Highly recommend this place!!! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS THERE!! Take it somewhere else. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! They are Rude and a bunch of Crooks!! Moe the one with the Napoleon Syndrome is Rude and a Liar!! i still plan to sue them to what they did to my car. i got a bid to get my 1975 Triumph TR-6 for a new convertible top and upholstery. Moe coated me $1,500 for the labor as long as i buy the parts. This was on March 2016. He said drop it off in a month. So i told him i will take the car to get painted first and then drop it off after the painting on the car to their shop to get started with the interior work. He said great and not to worry about the car it will be in a safe place. I trusted him even though when you look inside the shop looks like a bomb had gone off. they have at lease 8 cars inside on a 1,000 sq. ft. space of work space. you have to carefully find your way around to see your car and stuff piled on top of the cars. Every time I called to check on the car he kept telling me to get more parts, i told him several times to give me a list of everything they need. This went on for 7 months. I had to keep ordering to Moss for the parts on for the convertible and the door panels. it cost me every time I ordered due to delivery and shipment charges. Cheaper if you get it in bulk. And then he said it will need a new Wooden Dash for the Gauges and should replaced too. so i bought that too and he said it will be an additional $500 to put it in. I agreed for the additional cost and bought more parts by bits and pieces and this went on for another 3 months. Finally it was Spring and I asked him what is going on with my car. he said it will get done as soon as he can. he was just finishing up another car. I didn't mind at first because i thought I was getting a deal. I asked him every other week the status and he kept putting it off for another week. But 10 months was a little too long and I would really like to have the car for the summer. i finally had to threaten him to just take my car and get another shop to finish it. This was the finally the month of August. When it was time to pick up the car they provided me with a bill for $6,500!! i asked to talk to him and he refused to see me. i went to the counter and asked them and they said that is for all the work and parts for the car. i said i paid for all the parts and had all the receipts to prove it from the parts store. I asked to see the Work Order that Moe had in the beginning and they said they don't have a copy of it. Are you kidding me!!! I said that was not what we agreed on. I asked for a copy of the written Work Order and they said they don't have one. i finally had to ask for one of the guys "Mike" who worked on my car and he confirmed that I did provide them with all the parts and the hours were rather excessive. He tried talking to the Front Desk and adjust the bill but they said they will not adjust the bill. They will have to wait for Moe. I already had plans to leave out of town in a couple of days. i demanded for them to call Moe. And they conveniently said he was too busy and out of reach. I stayed there for an additional hour to see about reaching Moe to clarify the excessive cost of their labor. i said from $2,000 to $6,500?? I said for that cost the parts should have been included. Mike agreed but we had to wait for Moe. I just want my car out of there after over a year at their shop. When I got to my car, i noticed both doors were bent back outward, because it looked like someone pushed it back to work on the interior door and didn't bother taking the time to put in the door panels in and out properly and that there were also several scratches on the exterior of my car and the trunk of the car. They even dumped all of the garbage and old pieces inside the trunk without putting it in any boxes or bags. i asked Mike to look at it. And he couldn't believe what they did to my car. He said Moe hired a bunch of Flunky's for the summer and they were the ones that worked on it towards the end and were rushing to get it done. i said the shop has to pay for this. We went back to the front desk to talk to one of Manager. They said they don't know what happened and Moe will get back to me and talk to me about it. They said they will take $1,000 off only if i agree to signed the bill with the new price of $5,500 because of the damages and that in consideration of the new price and damages. They said Moe will call me to go over the damages and the price difference to just get the car because they don't have any more space. Never heard from MOE of course. I had to take my car back to the Auto body and Paint Shop. i got a bid for another $3,500 to get the body work done to fix the dent and repaint it again. THEY ARE THE MOST UNTRUSTING AND THE SCUM OF THE EARTH!! And i also plan to report them to the BBB. Not that they do much of anything anymore. But I think my attorney will get their attention FOR SURE. Again you have been WARNED!!! read more

I wouldn't bring a child's car seat here and neither should you. First off they broke my visor clips and told me that I had to replace them. That's just the beginning. They also told me it would be around $600. I know this type of work can get quite expensive but I also expect a company to be transparent and tell me when it TRIPLES in price. Go figure it tripled in price with zero notification about it. I happily go pay. What do I find less than a mile down the road...my whole brand new headliner is leaking. Soaking wet. They messed up my sunroof putting it back on and it allowed a lot of water to get in, which I had to bring back in to get it fixed and they didn't offer one iota to fixing the new stains or helping in any way. They fixed the sunroof but not what the leak caused, stains. The next thing I noticed is they broke my tire cover in the trunk. It was completely apparent someone sat on it and snapped it in half. The owner not only didn't believe me but insisted on yelling at me like it was my fault and it could not have been him or his people. The part to fix it was only $100 and instead of making me a happy customer after so many fuck ups he yelled at me and basically called me a liar. He wouldn't even listen to my case and if you look at the pictures it's pretty apparent what happened. There were some guys there I really enjoyed, you know who you are. But that doesn't make up for the sourness and negativity from others. In this day and age, that type of customer service is unacceptable. I've never felt so much hostility and blatant disregard from a place of business about things they were responsible for messing up. Be aware. read more

I have a 60 Corvette and even though the seat covers were new the cushioning was less than adequate. Took the car to Rich's and Mo looked at it and I told him what I wanted. He suggested the least expensive way which was to install new seat covers. I was looking for more cushion and something more custom than the stock look. He said he could certainly do that but it was going to cost me more. I know upholstery work is not cheap and you pay for what you get. We settled on $4K for the 2 seats. I don't know where that ranks in terms of cost but I can say that the finished product is everything I asked for. The gentleman who works for him who performed the work has been doing this for awhile and it shows. Can't remember his name but very professional and personable. Took the seats to him on April 9th and got them back on the 21st. I'm very pleased with the finished product and would not hesitate to refer a friend to Rich's. Thanks Mo. The worst work I have had done on my car! I agree with Tom C. I would give a zero also! Shoddy work and they did more damage to my cars paint, windshield, and interior. They did my vinyl top twice and its still screwed up, scratched my brand new windshield, got glue on my new paint job,which caused enough damage to require sanding and repainting, cut my new headliner and tryed to glue it back together, when I tryed to get something done about it I was given the run around and ignored my phone calls. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy! Thier work is for from professional. A $700.00 job done by them has cost me more then $2500. in repairs. Stay away from Rich's Custom Upholstery. The work they did on my car was in 2008 and it looks to me as if they haven't gotten any better. It sucks to trust in a shop and get screwed. read more

I went to get a car seat stuffed and asked them if they could repair a crank-handle window that wouln't go down all the way. They overstuffed the seat, and I had to return to have them re-do it. They fixed the window pretty well, but they "fixed" the OTHER window (the passenger side) THAT I HADN'T ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT. It had always worked fine, but now it's hard to roll up and down! They "broke" it. They also damaged the paint on the back of the car. It looks like they backed the car into and under something -- it's a small car. I didn't want to go back to have them put the passenger side window back in working order, but now I plan to. I had picked this shop because I had passed by it a lot -- I did no research to try to find a good shop. I learned my lesson. I don't recommend this place. read more

Based on my current options and budget I suggested a constrasting wool material for the time being--they did an excellent job! I am new to getting my car fixed and I called Rich's to see if they could help me with my leaking sunroof. The gal on the phone was very helpful she explained the process and scheduled me for service the following week. I was happy to drop my car off, although I did not know what the final bill would be, the girl at the counter informed me of the standard cost & procedure & told me they would let me know if they encountered any additional issues before proceeding. I received a call that afternoon, they had been able to fix the source of the leak and no additional repairs were needed. I appreciate the fact the staff explained how the process worked, possible sources of leaks, and was able to clear whatever was causing my sunroof to leak. I was able to get my car back the same day, no leaks! I found out they also did furniture and I plan on returning with an old chair of mine to have it reupholstered.
