**July 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more During my SDCC weekend, I walked by Michaela's Meals in the Gaslamp Quarter, which was right between my hotel and the convention center. This shop was just one street down from Ralphs and Vitality Tap so it was conveniently located. On Sunday afternoon, I noticed the space was open for business, so I popped in to check it out. It's a small spot with a staff member, a fridge full of pre-made meals, a little bar area with two stools, a cold water pitcher, and a microwave. The main business model is a weekly subscription, but I learned that the owner also keeps leftovers in the fridge for grab-and-go customers on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1:30-5 p.m. They also run a "buy 4 get 1 free" and "buy 8 get 2 free" promotion, which makes the meals an even better value. I assumed she makes an abundance and sells those for $10 a meal, but since I stopped by close to closing, I got mine for $5 each. I grabbed two to try because the meals looked very nutrition-focused and considering I ate basically garbage throughout Comic Con it was a smart choice to fuel up with real food. I tried a Mediterranean chicken over yellow rice and zucchini, as well as a ground hamburger-style sloppy joe-type meal. The food definitely leans healthy, and considering how inconvenient it is to eat well at SDCC, this was a great find. Since she has Wednesday and Sunday pickups, I'm now contemplating doing a preview-night (Wednesday) pickup for a couple of meals on my next visit. I'll be in touch with Michaela's for future San Diego trips.

I was getting a lot of text so I was busy and normally would have walked away with that type of behavior. When he finally came over I asked him if he was open or what and he said 'yeah' and I said "well I've been standing here a while so I wasn't sure." he had no comment like oh sorry I didn't see you there or anything I know he saw me there he just ignored me. I'm pretty sure I was the first customer and I ordered the falafel which they were out of. wow. So I settled on the chicken kabob which was supposed to be a plate and it looked more like a side salad for $12. There was nothing special about this kabob and they were telling me it was some sort of authentic recipe authentic or not it was unmemorable. The more and more I try food trucks the more and more I am disappointed. They're just overpriced and not worth it and this is one of them.

I ran into this Kebabery at the Helix Brewery and ordered a lamb and beef Döner kebab with a…read moreterrific blend of authentic Turkish spices. I say authentic because the spice mix actually comes all the way from Turkey. The Döner kebab was all about those Turkish flavors. They aggressive in a very good way and packed a touch of heat as well. The heat was subtle but definitely was felt on the palate. As a result, the lamb and beef were very flavorful. The Döner kebab also came with a familiar yogurt sauce or a Tzatziki which not only tasted great but also complimented the Turkish spices and added as a gentle cooling affect. Although the beef and lamb tasted good, I did feel they both could of been a little more tender. The Döner kebab also came with fresh lettuce and red onions. They served it on a toasted flat bread that had great flavor and texture. The gent who runs the Local Kebab is very friendly and passionate about his trade and for good reason too. You can find the Local Kebab at a variety of local breweries so I suggest you check out the L. Kebab's website.

They have quite the diverse selection- featuring 20 virtual restaurant brands! Among them is Theo's Smash Burgers! We ordered a few of their original bacon smash burgers 9/10. And (2) orders of their tater tots 10/10. The tots were shatteringly crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy interior. Packed with flavor! The burger was well seasoned with an intensely caramelized, dark brown crust- chef's kiss! Prices were reasonable. The vibe was laid back. They have an outdoor patio for people to dine in and enjoy their food. I didn't really know what to expect from a "ghost kitchen". Surprisingly, I was impressed! The concept is made simple and easy! You order at the kiosk, then pick up your food at the designated locker. Simple, easy, and efficient!

Everything went well and our food was dropped into a locker for pick up after I had been notified via text. Plus, they're local and use local farmers. So, that's a plus. 1 minor thing is just I wish I could select what meals I wanted in my subscription instead of chef's choice, because I personally just WISH I could order some meals more than once because of how delicious they were.

They assured me this would be fixed immediately and have nothing to worry about. But they didn't. Called them again, same thing. So I had to email them multiple times until they finally fixed it. After this I decided to cancel my subscription as a whole, where I was assured I wouldn't be charged again, but I was still charged. I reached out to the owner and he was pretty hostile. See attached images.. They also claim their meals are GF but I'm pretty sure we found gluten in one of them.m Update for everyone: Jeff is lying. I had contacted him multiple times and he kept forgetting. He is very disorganized and hostile when you message him. Also Jeff, I had frozen the meals buddy.. Then I spoke with health officials first, and then contacted you once we had a case. I'm not sure what's going on in your personal life but I've never seen a business owner get so angry over a customer trying to cancel their subscription.
