It saved my pups from boredom. Before, I had to walk them four to five times a day and their late night walk was the LONG one so they'd sleep well. I have a fifteen year old Husky mix, Simone; a three year old Bully mix, Otis; and a six month old Bully mix, Pearl. I've only given four stars because the bugs are insane. I thought they'd be scarce during the heat of the day...nope, they love the heat too. Also, there's a lot of shrubbery and tree debris. Be careful navigating so you don't fall and trip and seriously hurt yourself. Watch out for your pups running near fallen branches, positioned in a precarious manner. We did happen to meet a sweet old girl, named Susie. She and her Mom came into the large dog pen to hang with my crew and me for a bit. Anyhoo, it's not super fancy, but it serves its purpose and I feel is a wonderful addition to RAFB! Now, I don't have to take thirty minute walks in the early AM, and still not have every dog use the loo. Now, I get up, throw on some yoga pants and a tee, load the pups up, and drive a minute, then unload the pups into the park and just hang for an hour while they do their business (I always pick up after my pups) and play. I bring a large water bowl, two gallons of water, various toys, baby wipes, towel, bug spray, and antibacterial hand sanitizer. I'd never take food or treats into the park with dogs I don't know. Some dogs can be food aggressive and it could spark an altercation. The same goes for toys too. At the first sign of trouble, I take said toy away. Enjoy! Your pups will thank you!

Restrooms are conveniently located at the welcome center and start of the trail. The area is well marked and the terrain is diverse. I went and saw an attendant of the grounds and the house is open only on Saturdays for tours. She recommended that I explore the grounds- and they were beautiful. (They are open every day.). Each time I've stopped, the dog park has been relatively clean from dog poop, which is nice. It's a spacious area, good for throwing the ball and getting a couple of run-arounds in before your trip continues. The park is fenced in with a double-closed gate to be able to unleash your dog safely. There are places for the humans to sit too, and there are usually doggie waste bags available (although, if you're traveling with your dog... you probably have some!). The store is clean, as are the restrooms. And the gas prices are on par - you're not getting gouged which is refreshing, considering the super easy off/on location. Overall, it's a great stop that we'll use again on this route.

Well, I finally figured out the secret: GET THERE EARLY! I arrived early for the Vegan Festival, and there was plenty of street parking. There's also parking near the zoo if you don't mind walking over to the festivities. Now that I know the layout and what to expect, I'll definitely be more prepared the next time I come. And I have to say, Grant Park is beautiful! I can see myself coming back even when there isn't an event happening. The Vegan Festival itself was a lot of fun. We checked out different vegan vendors, made bracelets, picked up some hair products, and of course, I had to get some food. I grabbed a vegan platter and a delicious lemonade, and my daughter decided to go her own route and got fish and shrimp. She said it was delicious! There were also some non-vegan food options at the festival. I personally didn't have an issue with it, although I know some people definitely did. One vegan vendor even said, "I'll give you $100 if you eat 10 chicken wings." And I'm like... WHAT?! It was a hot day. There weren't a ton of places to sit, so I would recommend bringing your own folding chair or something comfortable to sit on. The pool was open, the splash pad was open, and the courts were being used, so there was plenty going on beyond the festival. Overall, I had a great time. I enjoyed discovering Grant Park, meeting vendors, doing some crafts, eating good food, and just enjoying the day. I'll definitely be back to the park.

We walked around people watching and hugging trees. Grant Park is a nice park to just chill and lay underneath the trees and read a book. And if your lucky you might hear the elephants.

So we saw some nice Prevost Mobile Homes (Shout out to my new friend for letting us go inside) in the Campground area, a beautiful lake, a "Splash Pad" (Water feature) that if I remember correctly as a child was a pool, rustic cottages, a huge Golf course and a big, nice Lodge. Due to our tight schedule, we did not get a chance to walk the Trails or the Boardwalk but I did see it. I think this State Park is a great way to take a quick retreat or a wonderful spot to hide away at for a weekend. Plenty of things to do and the Parking fee is only $5 per day. Or you can purchase a State Park Pass for about $50. This pass does NOT cover Stone Mountain Park. Just FYI there!

The current playground is much larger, with a smaller playground for younger kids. They have also installed an active gaming system with poles in a circle. Kids can choose various games where they have to move around. Besides the playground, the walking trails are very scenic, with lots of tall trees, shrubs, creek, and even a railroad track nearby. The younger kids especially enjoying seeing the trains come by often. There are many squirrels that will likely approach you as people love to feed them. There is a seating area you can reserve and host birthday parties. Grills are also available. Right next door is another large venue where people have had weddings. They also built in two small dog parks, one for smaller sized dogs. There are two parking lots with plenty of parking. The park opens from sunrise to sunset.

The land is interesting, a mix of rocky and verdant terrain. Some dirt trails divert off into the woods. There are a few substantial parking areas. Some open meadows are near the bottom of the hill, while the rocks tend to be more prominent the higher you go. It's a free stop as well.
