It is a place that I can always go to decompress and relax... Also a place that I can bring my daughter for an adventure... Can't beat the price either...FREE!

I came here on the best season ever which is fall ! As you can see the leaves are falling and changing color! I am so tempted to come and fish here. I came back to California to pick up my fishing rods. And i'm planning to go back to capture more scenery from Amerson Riverpark

This was an excellent lunch spot on our way back from Savannah to Atlanta. Just a perfect place to stretch legs, picnic, playground, walk one of several loops that meander around a great meadow along the a welcoming shaded-tree lined river bank perched above the American which looked calm. Sadly, One person lost their life in the turbulence and it's always a warning to those of us that mis take calm waters. Our little one practiced bouldering on five large boulders, summiting each in succession. It was a good trip. Highly recommend this one right off 16. Tank up and keep going.

A perfect spot for a nice walk, river enjoyment and basking in the sun. I stopped here on my way back from Savannah for a break and lunch. Did a nice walk along the river. There is a big playground for kids and some neat structures like an theatre along the river. There is access to the river but also warning signs of fast currents. There was even a grave marker from some one who had died there. My guess was in the water, so unless you have a life jacket, I wouldn't get in. Beautiful spot!!

The River at Amerson River Park Trail. I was told it's pretty low today. But it's still nice.

I really like Amerson arriver Park. It's clean. It's well monitored. The facilities are all well kept and the River is calming and provides an enjoyable experience. They lock up the park at 8 pm daily. If I had to pick a downside or an area of improvement it would be the drive into the park. You have to cross over railroad tracks that are badly in need of repair. Someone placed rocks to try and even out the ride but they don't help. The car goes into deep trenches that can throw off the alignment and damage the wheels.

This is a great park. They have many walking paths. If you have small children they have a nice play area.

What a great place to take the entire family! Theres a walking trail, playground, a handful of shelters to have a bbq! Need to use a bathroom? No worries. There's one there. Plenty of parking, so bring the whole neighborhood! There's also access to the Ocmulgee River to go tubing, kayaking, fishing, etc... as well as a rental area to rent out some water equipment. The actual walking trail itself isn't too large, but there's plenty of wide open space to run around to your hearts desire. Also an area to just relax and enjoy the scenary on the "great lawn". Every time I come out here, there are always plenty of people and dogs walking around enjoying the views. Make sure your dog is on a leash, however, because some people may not care too much for them. The city takes care of this place, so please do the same! Plenty of garbage cans and dog poop posts everywhere. I come here at least twice a week... I dont want to see your dogs poop! I wish they held outdoor events here. They have plenty of space to do it around here. Maybe they just want to keep the park looking clean? Who knows. People just need to learn how to clean up after themselves and we would be golden.

Great par located in a quite neighborhood in Macon. Paved trails and natural trails. Beautiful views of the lake. I usually walk the parameter of the park. The loop is about 1.5 miles. People bring their floaties on the weekends and enjoy the stream.

They were very thoughtful and creative with how they made the museum! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We got a map and checked out the mounds which were huge! Be sure to press the button to hear the audio guide built into the display- the info they gave really enriched our experience! Worth a two hour trip to check out!

However, before the pilgrims, the Spanish conquistadors were here, and they had a different welcoming party than the pilgrims did. It was the Mississippian people, who had been here for about 1000 years. The Ocmulgee area is very important to us. It tells the story of the land, rather than the story of the USA. Also, it withholds the most ancient sacred site in the USA, according to academic archeologists. For people interested in American history, indigenous peoples history and rights, and for people interested in spirituality, this monument is a place to see.

Surrounded by beautiful homes including the Johnston-Felton Hay House, the park is a great place to picnic. There are outdoor concerts here, permanent art installations and a number of memorials to past military and a famous politician. One special feature is the slide which is probably really nice some times but today was a little filled with trash. And no, this isn't the cardboard pieces that help you have an enjoyable ride. You do need something to reduce the friction or it's not much of a "slide" after the trash is gone. There are some picnic tables and grills. It's very nice. Do be aware of the "residentially challenged" who didn't bother me during the daytime. There is street parking all around. [Review 1065 of 2024 - 733 in Georgia - 22093 overall]

And the cement slide is so much fun!!! It goes pretty quickly! And it is very difficult to walk back up the slide itself as the cement is smooth...but there are the actual stairs and grass to be used. The park has plenty of nice areas to sit and the walk around the college is very nice (beautiful homes to look at on the walk).

I had Friday off for Independence Day and we wanted to get out of town for a few hours. I had seen…read morethis place on a list of 'botanical gardens in the state of Georgia' before, so we decided to drive down and check it out. After driving 90 minutes and grabbing lunch nearby, we arrived on the Middle Georgia State University campus around 12:30 p.m. on a Friday. This was after the Spring semester ended and during COVID, so things were pretty dead anyway. We entered the campus, and found that there were a marked lack of any signage about the (on-campus) botanical gardens. We drove around and eventually parked to consult a maps app on our phone. Undeterred, we parked and walked towards what was indicated as the location. I stopped to read a sign and discovered that, in fact, we were *IN* the garden. Ok, look...I'll admit that this is appears to be a fairly new campus and it is nicely landscaped. There is a lake with a small island with plants, etc. There are a lot of walking paths. It was quite pretty, as campuses go. I've spent years on uglier campuses, certainly. However: calling this a botanical garden is really a stretch. It is more like a 20% enhanced landscaping with a few signs. If you really like plants and have a lot of time to kill and are in the area, by all means stop by. If you are contemplating driving for more than 20 minutes to visit this place (specifically for the 'gardens', I would advise skipping it).

In no way should this be considered a botanical garden. It is a college campus with some plants. Do…read morenot waste your time, like we did, unless you plan on attending this university.
