Each time I've stopped, the dog park has been relatively clean from dog poop, which is nice. It's a spacious area, good for throwing the ball and getting a couple of run-arounds in before your trip continues. The park is fenced in with a double-closed gate to be able to unleash your dog safely. There are places for the humans to sit too, and there are usually doggie waste bags available (although, if you're traveling with your dog... you probably have some!). The store is clean, as are the restrooms. And the gas prices are on par - you're not getting gouged which is refreshing, considering the super easy off/on location. Overall, it's a great stop that we'll use again on this route.

Located right on the outskirts of historic Milledgeville you will find Lockerly hidden off of Irwinton Hwy just before you reach the state hospital. Lockerly features many ways to discover a world of botanical delight in the heart of Georgia. They have trails you can hike on, a road that winds through the garden if you don't want to walk, a green house, and a landscape that is heavenly. I spent quite a few days while I was in college coming out to Lockerly to study when the weather permitted or to just be lazy and relax. The best part of this place is it is free and open to the public. Although I've never visited the mansion, Lockerly Hall, on the grounds I've always heard that it was haunted. I think I might want to check that out sometime soon.

The current playground is much larger, with a smaller playground for younger kids. They have also installed an active gaming system with poles in a circle. Kids can choose various games where they have to move around. Besides the playground, the walking trails are very scenic, with lots of tall trees, shrubs, creek, and even a railroad track nearby. The younger kids especially enjoying seeing the trains come by often. There are many squirrels that will likely approach you as people love to feed them. There is a seating area you can reserve and host birthday parties. Grills are also available. Right next door is another large venue where people have had weddings. They also built in two small dog parks, one for smaller sized dogs. There are two parking lots with plenty of parking. The park opens from sunrise to sunset.

They had to move on. They did nothing to make it better or make her feel safe, only added to her fear. They eventually told us that since we have Medicaid, they don't make enough money on us to waste any more time. They are a disgrace.
