Just off the main hwy! You've seen the movie theater sign. It's there! This warm and friendly place was not what we expected. It's large inside and out. The patio looked inviting. I finally settled on Macky's Cantina Tacos with Mahi Mahi and avocado with potato salad on the side. The portions were generous! One of the best grilled Mahi Mahi tacos I've ever had. The salsa was good and I will try the mango salsa next time. The potato salad was delicious as well. My guests both had the Avocado Swiss BLT and opted for Chicken Poplano soup on the side. They really liked everything. The sandwiches were large enough to share. I tasted the soup and it was really good. The service was very good. Our waitress answered ALL our questions and was attentive. Everyone was friendly. We will definitely return. Girls day trip to Payson. We decided to stop for dinner before heading home. Our group of five was immediately sat. Menu has a mix of American, southwestern, and Mexican favorites. Macky's was chosen due to the number of gluten-free options. Several of the people in our group required this. They had eaten at Macky's before, and knew that there were many items they could eat. Included in the gluten-free options are tacos, salads and gluten-free buns for the burgers. They even had gluten-free free dessert. Burgers are on the larger side. Burgers are juicy. My daughter was very happy with hers. My chicken cheesesteak was not as plentiful as the burgers. Chicken cheesesteak was missing the sauce. Fries are seasoned. They remained crisp even as they cooled. Macky's was moderately busy. We were checked on by our server a couple of times. Server was kind. Food was out relatively quickly. Western themed decor. Ambiance fits with the mountain and old west feel in Payson. Live country music was being performed on the patio. Our party of three topped here for lunch on a Saturday. Service was incredibly slow and the food was disappointing. The cheese curds did not squeak and tasted more like mozzarella sticks. I am convinced that people giving Macky's 5 stars must be out of towners or have very short memories. Macky's has been my favorite place in town since I was a little girl. Literally the first place my dad took us when we moved to town in '96. Since we moved away it's still our default stop when we're in town. Me & my husband don't make it up very often anymore but each visit in recent years has been a further step away from their old standards. Between out of control cost that no longer matches the quality of the food being served (almost $16 for 6 tots that were basically deep fried mashed potatoes), & old favorites being dropped from the menu we're done. While the staff was nice & interior is still well maintained the food just doesn't deliver. The last burgers we got weren't even edible they were so over cooked. I'm sure they won't miss us but we will miss them. read more

We didn't mind, but it would have been nice to know it was gonna take awhile. They were so friendly otherwise, and it had a nice indoor or outdoor atmosphere, whichever you prefer. Macky's Grill is the hidden gem of Payson and certainly worth a stop. Not only does Macky's have a lovely, sizeable patio that is dog-friendly but they also have an incredibly accommodating menu for different dietary needs with many vegan and gluten free options. Also, let me just tell you, their GF bun is so good it had me questioning if it wasn't the regular bun, it was a real treat. This is really just a great spot to grab a bite if you are passing through town or with a group of friends or family. There is something for everyone on the menu and I personally highly, highly recommend the pastrami burger. I love a pastrami burger and have eaten them in many different burger joints in several different states, this is the best I've had yet, hands down. The place stood out on yelp having 10X more reviews than any other place known for burgers. I see why. I had the Macky original I believe it was called (and added grilled jalapeños). Best burger I have had in a long time. Great large iced tea to go with it and the side salad was fresh, crisp, and had great blue cheese. The staff was on top of things. Something great about a place where manager does the rounds and asks if everything is good with customers. Will be my family's new go-to every single time I am in Payson. Came here for dinner on my weekend hiking adventure up north. Every place I go, I have to try the chilli. I also can't resist a French Dip. Luckily, this place has both and pies to top it off. I started with the chilli which was Grandma Bonnie's Famous chilli. It was really tasty. It had a good meat to bean to sauce to veggie ratio. Loved it. I didn't want cheese on it but that's ok I moved it to the side. I could eat that all day every day lol. The mushroom Swiss dip was also very good. The beef was fresh and not cheap looking or tasting it was real. The mushrooms seemed fresh not canned. And the au jus was had just the right amount of salt for my liking. The fries were a bit too greasy for me but that's ok. The pie I got was the pb and chocolate. It's like a custard gooey filling of like unbanned cookie dough. So so good. DELICIOUS!!! I visited Macky's Grill on Friday June 4, 2021 and this was my second time visiting. Since my last visit they have added a Beyond Burger to the menu whereas they only had a veggie burger before...the veggie burger was awesome (had that during my first visit) but I was happy to see the Beyond Burger make its way onto the menu. My friend and I started off with the tempura fried zucchini, which was a huge portion and was full of crispy goodness. Definitely an appetizer that can be shared between two or three people. If you like fried zucchini, this is a must get! I had the vegetable wrap and added the beyond burger to it. The wrap comes in a spinach tortilla and is full of delicious, fresh, crisp vegetables tossed in a balsamic dressing. It is out of this world, especially when you add the veggie or beyond burger to it. For my side I tried to keep things healthy and got a side salad, which was basically the same thing as my wrap lol. Service was quick and efficient and the server we had checked in often and refilled our drinks frequently. I live in Chandler but will drive the 90 min. to Payson just to eat at this place, it's THAT good. read more
