Overcooked and burned.

Hey no! Que decepcion! Chicken was overcooked, somewhat burned, no flavor at all! Had to add salt salsa and limon to eat. So sad! My chicken looked nothing like what was on the grill. Mind you I was there around 10:30am. Wad this yesterday's chicken?

I was in the mood for chicken and was nearby. I tried their #1 which is a half chicken with beans and rice. They can add grilled onions and jalapenos on top as well. The sides were good and tasted fresh. The chicken was tender and came with sliced avocados and hot tortillas. The meat was tender and the skin was crispy. The grilled onions were soft and the salsa was hot and flavorful. The staff is nice, plenty of seating inside.

All chicken served with grilled onions and jalapeño peppers. Avocado and salsa are also provided. Salsa is DELICIOUS and very spicy.

Macho Pollo serves up some of the best chicken around--perfectly tender and full of flavor. The rice and beans are equally impressive, making for a satisfying meal. While I haven't been inside, the exterior could use a little TLC. Service is fast in the drive thru. Prices are a bit higher than El Pollo Loco, but the quality is well worth it, and I'm happy to support a small business that delivers great food. Highly recommend!

The chicken was dry and hard, couldn't chew most of it. It was like left overs from the day before .

I devoured my chilaquiles with papas chorizo & diablo salsa which had a good burn and cooled my scalp. The cinnamon coffee is a little sweeter than I like, but I deeply respect how scalding it arrives (like McD's before the stupid lawsuit). Gets loud and lively inside; outdoor seating for two (3 spots). Can't wait to come back and try the pancakes we saw that a lot of people ordered (they looked so fluffy, and since I have a dairy allergy, I can never get them anywhere else)

It's a cozy little space with booths and tables, a fountain in the middle, order at the counter and they bring your order to your table. Kind of noisy inside but at least it's from lively conversation, not from TV screens at least. The staff were all super welcoming and attentive, bringing us the piping hot food (you had to wait at least 5 minutes for coffee to cool down enough to drink. Seating is plentiful especially for groups of 2-4 people. Quieter tables for two outside. My husband ordered the chilaquiles with al pastor and spicy salsa. I ordered the posole. Both dishes were very flavorful and generous portions. My brother and friend each ordered a fruit tart as well and said they were tasty but that the puff pastry was too dense. Highly recommend!

Not terribly inventive Mexican given what's out there in DTLA or even OC but kudos for attempts at menu expansion! I do think the guacamole is really good, the mezcal offerings are awesome, the decor is upscale and Happy Hour pricing is worthwhile. I find this restaurant very loud however. Because of that, I booked outside seating on OpenTable for Cinco de Mayo for drinks at 6:30 for 4 of us. We arrived at 6:25. We were notified that they were running behind, but still were not seated at 7... we were told there was no outdoor seatings coming up in the near future but they could honor our reservation shortly at an indoor table... but unfortunately it was club-decibel live music for the holiday so we went elsewhere. I do feel that managing holiday crowds and reservations is a reasonable expectation for a restaurant of this caliber/ price point. Recommend as a local option only but with a few caveats, not my top choice.

The only criticism would be the service. Our server never came back to ask us if we wanted another beer and we had to call over another employee to order take home food and take care of the bill. There was maybe one other table of people there when we left and our original server basically ignored us. Would definitely come back for the food - maybe the server was having a bad day or just figured a couple of ladies wouldn't be interested in having more than 1 beer? Au contraire!

Unfortunately, we did have to wait around 30-40 minutes for the buffet to be ready.. we were served mimosas right away, which was nice. Now.. when it came down to the food, one person in my party did find a vey long hair in her chile relllenos. We made it know to our waitress.. which was a sweet person throughout everything!! Then we were told that the chilaquiles and taco station was now open.. so we headed down to it. There was no one to great us at the station. We stood around for around 10 minutes and no one showed up. So at that moment I grabbed a bowel of menudo. Lucky me!! I also grabbed a long hair in my menudo.. my sister in law thought it was a piece of onion but it was not! It was a very long strand of hair. At that point we all tried our best to make the best of it and enjoy the mariachi and mimosas. Then when I returned to the taco/chilaquile station the lady was very rude!! She bluntly asked what we wanted instead of telling us our options.. and I said I'll have 2 chorizo tacos please.. she said where's your plate?? I wasn't aware that I had to give her a plate to serve me. It was an overall horrible experience. Especially because we were literally the only party in the entire place besides the mariachi. The mariachi and our server were the only pleasant people that morning. I will never be returning.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was super welcoming and took the time to walk us through the menu and their specialties, which made ordering a lot easier. The shrimp tacos were a pleasant surprise--not your typical style. They're fried and topped with a flavorful sauce that really sets them apart. Solid choice if you want something a little different. The real star of the show was the Poseidon botana aguachiles. We were originally deciding between the Poseidon and the mixta, but they mentioned they could make the botana a Poseidon style, and that's what we went with. Absolutely delicious--super fresh and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this dish. We also tried the tostada de pescado (size small), which was probably my least favorite. It wasn't bad, just didn't stand out compared to everything else. I'd personally skip it next time. One thing to note--there's a small parking lot that was more full than expected given how many people were inside. It seems like it might be shared with nearby businesses, so just keep that in mind. Overall, great experience, great food, and I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.
