The Lincoln Y is fine. They have all the equipment you would need to exercise. I went there daily for 7 years and I'm 72 and retired.
However, if you're thinking of hiring a Lincoln YMCA trainer, think again. I made the mistake of hiring a trainer at Lincoln. She was supposedly the best they have. I took most of her classes and liked what she did. This led me to believe my first experience with a one-on-one trainer would be good.
It wasn't. I signed up for 9 sessions and It took her 5 months to complete 6 of those 9. She never planned a workout to fit my goals or even ask what my goal was. She slapped some random exercises together at the spur of the moment, while she constantly checked the clock. Turns out her goal was to get the session done in less than the hour allotted. She had better things to do...I guess? Yes, she had two kids, a husband and this job at the Y, but she agreed to "train" me. I wish she had told me upfront that she would give it a halfhearted training session and squeeze me in when she could...once a month or so.
I complained to her personally because there's no sense in involving management. I didn't want to get her in trouble and I thought we could solve this issue between the two of us. She, however, went running to her boss that I had complained and....this is the funny part....I got banned from McColl. Yep...I paid for one-on-one training, got a half hearted lazy attempt at "training" and I got banned and tossed out of the Y. Not only that, but management sent out a notice for the whole Y and employees to ghost me. Not a soul would speak to me. I was EVIL for complaining to her. OMG.
This was over a year ago and the ghosting still haunts me. From what I wrote above you're thinking that I must have done more than complain. NOPE. I complained to her and her alone in a text message. She's the one who went running to "mommy and daddy". McColl would not allow me to speak to her to settle our differences. Boom...you're banned, shunned, cast out like a piece of dirt after 7 years of dedicated attendance.
So, as good as the facility is think twice about personal one-on-one trainers at the Y. They're amateurs and not good at all. read more
