First time at Mac's - Saturday night off and drove an hour to see a few great surf-music bands. The venue was great with awesome comfy chairs and table side cocktail service, as well as a place to dance. You know what sucks? Instead of having a great memory of my first time here, I keep thinking about how incredibly rude the bartender at the main bar was. We stood in front of the empty bar while 3 bartenders talked about their side work, completely ignored until I asked if we could get a drink. After he came over, obviously annoyed, we asked about beer selections and he told us 'they are listed out on page 3' while never making eye contact. Bar was dark and couldn't see the menu - which was why we asked in the first place. Dude, you bartend in a cool, small music venue, not a tourist trap in Fisherman's Wharf. If you have a sh*tty attitude here, perhaps you should rethink your career choice. read more

DO NOT TEXT THE NUMBER THEY PROVIDE, THEY WILL USE IT LATER TO HARASS YOU. The owner of this venue has gone on to harass and insult me over my negative experience. He has taken 0 responsibility for what happened and is blaming me for his show that lacked so many obvious common place considerations. I had texted the number they provide for comedians, trying to get a spot on a Tuesday, which all that did was give him my number to later send me harassing text messages. I went on a Tuesday night. This is NOT ABOUT THE THURSDAY. I hear the the Thursdays are fine, the Tuesdays have been aggressively trying to get talent/comedians to show up. The Tuesday was very negative for me. What a terrible way to do comedy. I am a veteran comedian, and sat around for hours all night with 0 communication and no idea what is going on. Was there a list? Is there a host? Should I just leave!?! I felt I was held hostage, not knowing if I was next or what was happening and couldn't check in without interrupting the show. Really truly not what open mic should be, or shows or anything related to do comedy. Am I doing 90 seconds or a few minutes or what? What's with cameras that I gave 0 consent to. I surely hope they don't post my content without my consent. If they do.....oh boy.... This is just terrible and unprofessional. Comedians, please have more self respect than this and do not support the wacko nature of this venue. Audience... well, whatever, you'll figure it out if quality comics stop going. The owner later contacted me about this review asking I take it down based on their Thursday night shows which I did not attend. A great show on Thursday is not a great show on Tuesday. He suggested I was hurting the comedy community with this review. His continued aggressive and harassing behavior should be known. I suggested we try to make amends and work this out, and instead wrote a very childish reply to this review. This is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced. I think new comics are afraid to speak up and this type of show needs to be called and needs a serious over haul on organization skills and an owner that needs to learn to pick their battles. He blamed me for not understanding the show, which sure, I didn't, but it's not my responsibility to gain this information immaculately, it should be communicated clearly, it felt very much like I wasn't even going to perform. You want talent listen to them, or keep blaming them. I think performers pursuing comedy should go somewhere else on a Tuesday. read more

The BAND- The Owls played live tonight; they are AMAZING. Incredible group of very talented young musicians, who had a guest vocalist for one piece, who knocked it out of the park! It was a wonderful night with a great crowd, and superb band! one thing I must add: While the servers were fantastic, (service was great,) the drinks were TERRIBLE. Cocktails, and even house wine, are WAY way overpriced. And watered down. I ordered martinis. A lemon drop, then espresso martini. The lemon drop was mostly sugar and the espresso martini had ICE in it! Both had very little ETOH, so I thought I'd go with vodka Collin's next. Wow, I didn't think they could get any worse. I had to go up to the bar myself to tell the bartender "there's no vodka in this;" she gave me a quick pour, not much difference. And the Collin's mix was nonexistent. While visiting Marin County on a Thursday, local bartenders recommended Mac's in Fairfax. They're open pretty late and have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a stage where it looks like they have live music. We came later on closer to midnight and it looked like many locals go there to hang out for a drink. They have a full bar and many cocktail menus. There's street parking and people can bring their dogs inside! read more

I came out here with my friends on a Friday night. It was super spontaneous so I'm glad that we found it because it had live music inside. The outdoor space is so beautiful! I was a huge fan of the string lights and they also have heaters throughout the outdoor area. People were very friendly and the drinks were yummy! We met the owner of the bar who was very outgoing and let us in for free, but believe there might be a cover charge. read more

Not too shabby for Fairfax. This spot is classy, fun. I didn't order a drink so I'm unsure how the drinks are... the service was swell and the staff are kind. I was treated to the VIP lounge, which is a super comfortable section. It is crowded and somewhat noisy. I'm not a fan of the cover band, and I'm unsure of the vibe during the week. read more

I am a big fan of Mac's. Have been on several occasions to see shows or drinks outside before movie. And last night I was looking forward to seeing the Chrystal Ballers band. The band was kicking it up whe several of us ladies were talking and waiting outside the bathroom door over 20 minutes. we started knocking loudly on the bathroom door and asking if everything was ok. I became alarmed and walked up to the bar through the back way, which apparently was a no-no. The bartender screamed profanity at me, and so I hopped on the other side of the bar and was trying to tell her that I was worried someone was locked in the bathroom. She again started screaming more profanity at me and I was just alarmed by her response and said don't you and she said don't tell me I don't care it was horrible. I couldn't believe it. I walked away and walked back to the ladies and told them what happened when the girl from the bar stormed over and literally screamed at all of us And was yelling profanity Ware so much so my one friend was screaming back at her. I thought there was gonna be a fight. Finally she walked over and unlock the door and there was no one in there. OK so maybe no one was in there but why did she have to react the way she did it was insane. And what if somebody had been in there passed out or something it seemed uncalled for. It upset some of my friends so much that they said we're leaving aren't you leaving? I really wanted to see the band so I did stay, but it did put a damper on the rest of the night. Need us to say we did not leave a tip. I hope the manager reads this and has a talk with the girl about being more appropriate. I won't be back. read more

What an incredible venue! Complete thoughtfulness in design down to the smallest details. Local artists and inclusive programming that brings the community together, Mac's at 19 Broadway is an experience like no-other in Marin County. Huge thanks to Gerbely and David for the incredible hospitality. I think David is the "event venue" version of a maître d. He remembers me and my cohort every visit and welcomes us back and makes us feel special and at home. Gerbely makes my drink of choice, the "Naked and Famous" a mezcal variation on the classic Paper Plane with Yellow Chartreuse instead of Amaro Nonino. Been there several times & had a really good experience but the bartender last night was really bad - I think his nickname was "G" - he avoided my friend & I sitting at the bar for a long while - walked right past us & didn't acknowledge us until I had to make a point that we were waiting for drinks - he was cranky & my drink was very weak - I mentioned that so he poured me a shot on the side - I had to mix it into my drink - he charged me $11 for that shot - my drink ended up costing $27!!! maybe he was hungover or whatever - he shouldn't have been behind the bar read more

I saw an all girl comedy show last night and they KILLED it! 5 women performed and I don't think I stopped laughing once. I sipped on a gin drink called Green Light Go that was beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious! Total winner! The staff was pleasant and the DJ-ed music was on point! It was definitely worth the journey from the East Bay. read more

Went here for the night last Thursday, the DJ was awesome!! Playing some classics I hadnt heard in awhile and really got the room going. Got a moscow mule that was perfectly made as well. The outdoor area is a nice place to hangout and talk as well, with heaters and everything. Would recommend if you are looking for a place to chill and have a great time! Great music!! read more

To say the service at Mac's was poor is an understatement. I went there to see a comedy show which I heard was very good the month before. I was enjoying the comics (very funny) when the owner Mike came by and told an elderly woman, sitting within earshot of me, that she needed to leave because she engaged (positively) with the comic during their standup routine. Not only did the owner demand that she leave, but he did it in a VERY aggressive manner. What I wanted to tell the owner was that he should make a point at the beginning, before the show starts, to politely ask the audience NOT to engage with the comedians, instead of singling out an elderly woman. read more

I've never been singled out, and mistreated so significantly than when I went to Mac's Bar... It started with me accidentally smoking on what I thought was an outdoor porch, and once the bouncers let me and my friends know we couldn't smoke there we quickly went out front. When the bouncers wouldn't let us back in, I asked for my girlfriend and friend to be let in while I talked to them since I'd been the one who smoked. When the conversation wasn't fruitful, I asked to go back inside to find my girlfriend and get my stuff - while looking for her one of the bouncers started shoving me outside. Two nice local residents saw this, and as I was a college student and the only Black patron of the bar, worried and noticed I was being treated unreasonably aggressively. I am so grateful to them, as they asked to speak to the manager on my behalf as another bouncers also noted the way I was being treated seemed extreme. When the manager came out, we tried to speak with her to get clarification on why I was being singled out, but she immediately started screaming and berating us all. I'm so grateful to the overarching kindness of the community, but I've never been singled out so abrasively and treated with such absolute disrespect. I do not recommend whatsoever. As the daughter of the lawyer, I'm no stranger to the fact that a business owner can choose who and who not to serve, but it's a tragedy to see it used to reflect such blatant biases. read more

Sad attempt at hopping on the speakeasy bandwagon. Poorly mixed drinks, nothing craft about these cocktails. The bartender had to keep looking at the recipe card, which meant she wasn't ready to be back there. Came in shortly after 4, so it was not busy. No acknowledgment as we walked in and sat at the tables across from the bar. After a few minutes, I got up and sat at the bar to place the drink orders. Other people came in, and they were promptly served. She acknowledged me waving the menu around but first needed to finish the conversation she was having with people at the other end of the bar. Finally, I could tell her the wanted drinks: Safe Word Pineapple and Zombie. She said she'd bring the drinks out to us. We waited and watched as she served others who came in, and then after other pointless distractions, she brought out a Safe Word Pineapple and Tokyo Smash! We waited for the drinks, thinking it might change our worsening experience, but it was just the cherry on top. Badly mixed drinks. If it's all you have, great, but this area isn't really known for lacking options. Ultimately, that's what we did. We hit up a place in San Rafael for better craft cocktails. It was my first time at Macs since it changed from 19 Broadway. Has a nice ambiance despite being loud. It wasn't what I'd call busy, and after waiting 15 minutes I ordered a drink from a very rude bartender. Drinks are pricey. I'm not going to recommend this bar. read more

I have no problem at all that I can't go into your amateur bar that doesn't know the basics of bartending that if someone clearly admits they have had too much to drink then you call them a cab. I would suggest that you and your bartender Sam go back to bartending school if you don't know the basics of bartending 101. Which is if someone asks for you to call them a cab after too many drinks then get them a cab. So yes ZERO stars it would I would continue to say..... And your right idiot bar owner am I extremely vocal about what is correct. Which is to call a cab if someone has had too much to drink.
