The #Basic
Chiara G.

I got the basic and it was the definition of mid. I was honestly expecting a lot better, it was just slightly tastier than boxed Mac and cheese. The shells were super small and the add ons were so expensive.

Their Mac n cheese is so freaking good guys. Portion is big too so you will definitely get a couple meals out of it. Also it comes nice and hot!

Goddess

Cheesy goodness and everybody and the flavors are kicking, and I love the garlic and cheesy one called the goddess. Tried this place for the first time and I was really impressed with it and really enjoyed the flavors and what not and they have a large variety so I'm interested in trying the other one especially the pesto. Haven't been to the location, but I'm curious to see what it looks like.

This spot slaps. The mac and cheese is insanely good -- creamy, cheesy, crispy on top, and made with actual love. Jose is the MVP. Friendly, fast, and clearly passionate about the food. He recommended the "Goddess" and it changed my life a little. I'll be dreaming about it every day until I come back.

The Hellapeno with shells, tomatoes, jalapeños, pulled pork

We have been regulars here for the past year even though it's a 30 min drive from where I live. The quality is excellent and consistent, and the service is great. There are picnic tables for outdoor seating, but the aluminum containers are great at keeping your mac warm if you take it to go. My favorite: Hellapeno with shells, jalapeños, tomatoes, topped with BBQ pulled pork. It's the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. My husband loves the Buffalo with shells and chicken, topped with panko and hot Cheetos. The perfect mix of spicy and spicy. They also have vegan and gluten free options! The portions are huge, so it's enough for two meals.

While the mac is of course is amazing these are hands down the best Brussels I have ever had! I go the honey sriracha but also want to try the aioli one and have a sneaking suspicion they would be great together Huge portions, wish they did like a sampler option for those of use who have a cheese addition and want to try like a few bites of each. Best part is the staff know how to package for to go. I drove 45 min to come here and they knew I would have the long drive home so they made sure they were piping hot. By the time I got home they were the perfect temp! Also make amazing leftovers it we ate the Brussels in like two minutes flat

The Basic with chicken, bacon, broccoli, corn, jalapeños

MAC'D is serving up some decent mac & cheese in Portland! We ordered via GrubHub - super easy process. You can order the base (i.e., "The Pesto", "The Vegan") and add additional items (i.e., chicken, broccoli, hot cheetos topping). We got the Basic and Goddess. Cooked perfectly. Nicely baked. I do like my food heavily seasoned so I added a little more salt. I like that they included utensils, because I often order from places that don't offer utensils and napkins which can be problematic and messy depending on what is ordered. If you opt to pick up your order, there's a small parking lot in the back. The area always looks a bit empty so hopefully we can continue to support the local eateries there!

If you're looking for very cheesy mac and cheese, here's your place. The mac and cheese items I ordered were drenched in cheese so that every bite had the nice cheese pull. The items were the Basic ($12.75) and the Goddess ($12.75), which had the choices of customized ingredients such as: bacon, chicken, corn, peas, roasted mushrooms and broccoli, jalapenos, parmesan shavings, and truffle oils. The mac and cheese are served in aluminum pans, which keep them very hot. They use shredded cheese blends that seem to combine sharp and white cheddar to have the distinct cheese taste. There's also some spice blends mixed into the macaroni to give a tasty flavor instead of bland pasta. This location is located an an area with other fast food storefronts and there is a private parking lot behind the building.

The Meat Lover

This is some seriously good Mac. I will confess that as a parent of a toddler my relationship with Mac and cheese has waned a bit. It's hard to find something that the kid will eat but actually has flavor. My southern go to is too sharp so I actually had kind of given up the hunt. This Mac is just about perfect. I got the meat lovers. My only complaint is the medium of serving. If this was a sit down restaurant I'd get this every time. However as take out it gets a little tricky to eat. The short rib is tender but not really so much so that you can mash it with a fork somewhat uniformly. The pulled pork was amazing and my only regret was not rationing it out so I could have some With every bite. My wife got the goddess and was making all sorts of yum noises. She added mushrooms and peas. Props for the free veggie adds. The kid was a fan of the basic. Cheesy and creamy. Interesting but not too sharp. Did I also mention that if you tried to eat a whole order, unless your agenda included a large amount of napping, you'd be in a bad way. I like it. The Brussels were really good too and survived a trip. Perfect combo with the honey sriracha sauce. I'm sure the fries were good at some time but they didn't make the trip. We'll be back. Hopefully the kid will crave Mac soon.

This place used to be bomb. Now the shells are mini & overall is dry. Not a creamy gooey that Mac & cheese should be.

Location wasn't great, the vegan Mac is really dry and doesn't have much flavor. Definitely will be working on getting a refund. 1/10.

Vegans-- don't waste your money here. Seriously. Their "vegan Mac" is literally just pasta, almond milk, and nutritional yeast. Yikes.

Ask the Community - MAC’D

Does this place have indoor dining?

No, just outdoor covered tables that are shared with the other window restaurants here

Is there flour or starchy thickening agent in the sauce? Wondering if this is keto-friendly or not.

There probably is a thickening agent in the sauce, though I don't know for sure. But I don't think macaroni or pasta in general is keto friendly, but I could be wrong there.

Any Gluten Free options?

Yes, they have cauliflower instead of noodles.

The onigiri is art. And the service is always polite and professional. Always. I was physically at the restaurant the night these one star people were there. From what I could tell sitting at the bar and observing the ID in question, it looked fliiiimssy even from where I was sitting. I kinda get both sides ya know , sure one person in the group wants a drink w dinner but dude just tough it out and have your dinner. Instead they popped off and all started fussing and being entitled and it was just gross. I was enjoying a fantastic dinner but that table was like trying to take the stage. I think they ended up storming out and one girl like stomped off and said she was keeping her cup !! lol I worked in food a long time ago. And I've worked in cannabis under the watchful eye of the olcc so I'm on the servers side. Don't take chances and don't listen to these kids scramble for a secondary ID. Sketch. Go to obon. Khao Moo Dang Pi-Set (5/5): Upgrading to the Pi-Set is worth the extra $3, which comes with all the standard options plus extra eggs, juicy dumplings, tender yu choy, and a side of bone broth. The five-spice pork is super tender and tastes very similar to char siu. The pork belly had a great crunch and was perfectly salty, which contrasted well with the sweet Chinese sausage. The dumplings are really juicy and justify the upgrade on its own, in addition to complementing the side of bone broth. Everything ties together when coated in their signature Khao Moo Dang sauce, which rounds out the rich meats with the perfect amount of sweetness. Logistics Tip: Takeout packaging holds up well, keeping the crispy pork belly from getting soggy on the ride home while ensuring the broth stays piping hot. Upgrading to the Pi-Set version further improves an already generous meal into an expansive dish that can easily satisfy a huge appetite.

Been here twice on my past two trips to Portland …read more. The food is pretty darn good -- and pricing is also pretty fair for what it is. However, -2 stars for the last time I was there .. I was with my brother, and he had tipped them well. It was later in the evening and people were hawking our table .. and we weren't aware it was "bus" your town table, felt the need to give up our table quickly and we were already on the street and a male waiter literally ran after us to let us know where we could put our dishes? .. Ok, bro, I get it but was that necessary? Why do you guys want to be tipped 25% and when someone makes a mistake, you run after them to tell them to bus their own table? Wasn't that MORE effort than just doing it yourself and saving your PAYING customers from embarassment? Not sure if I would come back and dine-in again .. Pretty turned off and taken aback. Take-out is definitely on the table but please give your paying customers a break and some empathy.
