    Smash burger with fries
    Matthew B.

Craving a smash burger and saw the impressive reviews. The truck looked well maintained with no observed issues. The woman who helped me was friendly and took my order in exchange for a beeper. The food pod, the Heist, is a great setup. Lots of outside seating, covered areas for the rain and an indoor space as well. I received the food in a timely manner and was home quickly. It was a pretty good burger. The fries were incredibly salty and could have been cooked a little longer to get the crisp I like. Kind of expensive at $15 + tip, but it did fill me up and satisfy my craving

This was my first time going to the heist. I wish I had gone with another food cart however. Went on a Sunday, showed up just before 4 o'clock. When I arrived I asked the younger gal working how she was doing - she didn't say much and just moved on to taking our order. Her inability to acknowledge me was disappointing, even as I'm trying to pay she walked away and I had to call her back over and let her know I had cash. No physical receipts available which I needed for work documentation, no napkins. Food took about 20 minutes which is fine - we weren't in a rush. However the Rueben was dry and the cheese not at all melted, the burger was as thin as a credit card and dryer than the desert, and two meals were shoved in one box.... I didn't understand this as every other group that was ordering was receiving separate boxes other than our group which also was the only group containing a disabled individual. So yeah I'll save my 30+$ in the future or just go elsewhere. Oh and lastly don't go to your job with a miserable attitude everyday - no one deserves to deal with that when they are just trying to get some food.

Tried the Lil' Smasher, a solid option if you're looking for a classic cheeseburger. Next time I'm skipping the lettuce & doubling down on the funky sauce!

I'm definitely glad that I tried this cat out while at the food cart pod. There's not that many places that have a chopped cheese as a regular item on the menu. Once I saw this, I knew I needed to order it. The chopped cheese is done well and tastes amazing! Everything was mixed well and I definitely enjoyed every single bite.

We're up all night to get Funky

This is a stunning burger…read more I have come here an embarrassing amount of times since moving back to Portland. The first time I came alone, just a little hungry and a lot broke. So I got the $6 little pleasure burger. A simple, single patty smash burger. It's everything a McDonald's burger wishes it could be - beefy and drippy, a squishy, slightly sweet bun, oozing hot grease without being heavy, lacy and crisp edges, and held together with the right amount of American cheese. It was the perfect amount for that day. Then I returned with my date. Twice. And he brought his coworkers for lunch because he liked it so much. I have had the western and the mushroom burger since, as well as the parm and chive waffle fries. They have nuggets and I'm inclined to believe they're great. The staff is great, it's a small team and they're all there every single day. They care about their product and your experience. The space is a simple counter, not good for large groups. It should be noted that even though their burgers would be great with a beer, they don't seem to have a liquor license! So don't expect an IPA with that shroom burger. Maybe someday!

The water is serve yourself which I actually prefer. There wasn't a ton of seating on the cashier level but there is more seating upstairs which we did not visit to take a look at. There's also plenty of seating outside and covered tent seating. It took about 12-15 minutes for the food to be served which was ideal. While we were waiting, one of the employees started sweeping a rug outside the kitchen but wasn't even making contact with the bristles and the rug? IMO. This BBQ is Kansas City style, so the sauce is a bit sweeter. We got the brisket, the chicken wings, and sides. We couldn't decide if on the sauce for the wings, so we got all 3 on the side. The Alabama white sauce was A+ The brisket was perfectly tender. It had great flavor and marbling. The wings are full wings with the drummette attached. That's the way to do it! They are smoked and then fried. They got the crisp just right. Let's talk about sides! We got the collard greens, coleslaw, and baked beans. They were all FANTASTIC! The coleslaw is a vinegar coleslaw, which I love. It wasn't the sweet mayonnaise style that most people don't enjoy. It was so good! The collard greens were perfectly flavored and tender! I couldn't have done better myself. The beans were sweet but also savory. Not super sweet, which makes me happy. Very well balanced. The server was super friendly and nice. She explained everything to us and made sure we were happy. They have a bar with various beers. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Very casual but perfect for BBQ. Highly recommend you try this spot!

The flavor of the burger was delicious after a long day of walking. The ingredients tasted very fresh. The fries were a good thickness and had a beer battered taste. I love that there's a ketchup bottle for you at the table. You can also grab ketchup packets and other sauces near the fountain drink station. The towel roll at the tables was great.
