Ok, so this particular MAC doesn't have the most thorough selection, but 4 stars for Miss CRYSTAL J. She was so sweet and accommodating, didn't rush us, and wrote down every step of application after she was done.. She nailed my requests it on the head, and did not push any products on me or my mom. She gave my mom a beautiful smokey eye and made my eyebrows look so thick and gorgeous. She is the only one I'm asking for next time I go! read more

Melanie was a cool artist. She did my makeup twice, and recommended a great lip color for me, which I love. She's friendly and easy to talk to. I been there a few times and my experiences have been good. Even when I made an appointment, yet they couldn't find it in the books, she still accommodated me. This is the WORST customer service i have ever recieved. They're always totally understaffed. On numerous accounts i have gone to MAC and have just waited around for a least 10 minutes without being helped, even if someone is busy they never say "I'll be with you in a minute", instead they choose to ignore you. When an employee went to ring me up she chose to talk to her co worker the whole time as she was doing the transaction, and she never spoke to me once, even to say bye or have a nice day. Twice i have bought something there only to go home and see they gave me the wrong product. Once when I bought something the guy who rang me up had nothing to do, didn't help me for 10 minutes, helped me pick something out, and when he went to put the bar code stickers on the products he acted like he was in such a rush that the stickers were hanging off the products, like what is that? They seriously need to work on their customer service. read more

I have gone many times to get my makeup done here. It's a hit and miss. There are a few makeup artists that are fantastic and others not so much. It is too bad, they don't let you make an appointment with a specific one. One time, one of them asked me to put on my own eye liner.... really? It also seems that they are often understaffed. Before reading my review, please understand that I am NOT a picky person on makeup. I go out with just sun screen lotion, eyeliner, mascara and blush. So I know exactly what I need to get even before going to the counter. I want to give them a 0 star actually because every time I go there, I have to wait for 10 minutes before any of the sales will help me if I was lucky. It would be understandable if they were busy helping other customers but noooo.... they were busy talking to each other or cleaning their brushes which I can see that is more important than helping out a customer even if I am the ONLY one there. And I gave them a good 4-5 chances on customer service before I wrote this review. I will not go back to them and have switch to another make up brand for company that actually train their sales to at the very least asked if they can help you. read more

Keisha the manager did my sisters eye brows and basically waxed everything off. Instead of apologizing she told her "your eye brows were to close together and thick". It is not her choice and my sister had asked for her not to touch her eye brows but to clean around it. Then she made her pay. I will be contacting the corporate office for her behavior. I hate this counter. They really don't help you and the times that I went, it wasn't even that busy. I drive myself over to the other MAC in the area and avoid this one at all cost. believe me, I'd go to the other counters, but I'm allergic to almost every freaking makeup brand available (I used an urban decay eyeliner and within seconds it started burning and i peeled a layer of skin off my eye lid. I put a benefit tint on my lips one time and ended up with duck lips. That's how allergic I am). It really a shame because I literally live across the street. read more

This mac counter has the worst customer service ever. Theres always workers doing makeup or either hanging around the counter trying to look like they are busy, when they aren't. i hate having to stand around the counters waiting to be helped, that it makes me want to just give up and walk away. i have no words because everyone else thats reviewed it has pretty much the same views as i do. read more

so i made a makeup appointment here for my wedding. my appoinment was scheduled with Daisy the day of my wedding i find out she doesn't work weekends so some else ended up doing my face. they started 15 minutes late and i do understand that these ladies are NOT miracle workers and are NOT mind readers.... but i would expect a LITTLE MORE experience. i left this place with two, very different eyebrows, my lipstick was not even and not on my lips. the eye shadow was not blended, and the contour i asked for... didn't happen. the products are great... the artists.... not so much read more

Ok so I lost a lipstick that I really loved and I was trying to look for it. My savior, a nice girl named Hollow (sp?) and asked how she could help me. I told her if I knew the name I'd know it off the top of my head but that it was a peach color. The first color she picked up was the right one! She even picked out a matching lip liner for me and showed me which eyeshadow would be best for the desired look I was looking for. She was so nice and has a great personality! I went here on New Year's Eve without an appointment so I am saying thank you to the lady who put fake lashes on me around 3PM. It was super busy and hectic in the middle of Macy's and I browsed around for a bit but finally asked the girl at the front desk if anyone was available to do a lash application on me. She said I would have to wait about 5 minutes but she could do it. She sat me down, applied my lashes and added liner and mascara to complete the look. She asked me how I liked it and if I needed any other product today. It was a quick and easy experience! :-) The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of what I saw from the other ladies who were working there. I understand they must have been flustered and super busy because of the big night out but coming from a background of customer service, I never accept any excuse to be rude to a client. read more

So snobby! When I go to a MAC counter (or any makeup counter for that matter), I try to go to a makeup artist who has makeup that I would want on myself. Unfortunately at MAC, you are very limited on natural looking makeup artists because all of them here have 80's style, bright neon, Halloween costume makeup. I had to settle for a chick with hot pink lipstick. And sadly, it was lipstick that I needed. I told her that I wanted a neutral color lipstick. She chose a nude-brownish lipstick but said that I would need lipliner with it. After she was done with me, my lips looked so plump that I resembled a human-monkey hybrid. No joke. I wanted to try on a couple more and every time I asked for a different shade, I felt like I had to apologize because she had such a reluctant attitude. To wipe off the lipstick, she gave me these alcohol wipes and after 4-5 lipstick samplings, my lips were literally bright red and raw. It made me wonder if those were really for the face and not the bathroom toilet. Go to the BENEFIT counter. The girl there is super friendly & I ended up buying my lipstick there in the shade Skinny Dip. It's very natural with pink undertones, exactly what I was looking for. read more

I went in for the first time looking for some lipstick. They had a good selection but no one told me that u can try them on before u buy it The lady just came up to me & askd me which one I want. So I went home & tried it on & it looked horrible. I went in the next day & a different lady gave me some lipsticks to try on & I found one I loved & exchanged it I walked out happy! read more

I like this mac cosmetics. I still don;t see why people complain so much about the makeup. You shouldn't go there if you want a natural look. Anyways if you want to get help there ask. A lot of the MUA's are busy and can't drop everything just because you're walking around. They always help me there. I go up to them and tell them specifically what I want and if I have any questions they always gladly help. I've purchased a few items from this location before and have never had any issues with customer service. A few weeks ago, I came here to purchase 2 lipsticks. Upon walking to their lipstick section, I was looking for the color that I wanted (I really didn't know where to look and I wasn't aware that they have 3 separate locations where they put their lipsticks). Within a minute of looking, an employee asked me if I needed help. I told her that I was there to look for a certain color and asked if it came in a glossy texture. She gave me the sample to look at and I asked her another question. She answered my question and I pretty much bought that lipstick and got another color too. After she gave me new ones, she walked me to the cashier station (a couple feet away). The cashier was also really nice. Even though I had to wait for the customer in front of me to pay, I was done within 5-10 minutes. read more

Usually when I walk by this counter its packed, and I can never get any service.. I came here in the early morning to pick up a lipstick..and the experience was nothing to brag about..I walked through..looking at eyeshadows..I see two of the workers just sitting putting makeup on eachother..they see me yet..they don't make an attempt to walk up to me.. so whatever..I walk up to the register and another associate asked if I needed anything.. I merely told her lipstick.. she grabbed it for me.. asked me if I was looking for anything else..as I paid I was texting away on my crackberry and she made small talk about how addicting it is..and yea it was..As you see from my scenario service here wasn't all that great.. +1 star for being able to get my lipstick and +1 star for the chick that actually got it for me. read more

I am a MAC addict and this is my favorite location to get all my goodies. I came in for the first time over a year ago looking a hot mess wearing the wrong color foundation that I had applied with my fingers. Alicia matched me perfectly with studio fix foundation and studio fix powder. She also influenced me to start using brushes when applying my makeup. I used to use MAC before, but being as obsessed as I am with makeup I wanted to try everything. I was using Tarte for a little bit, it didn't look good on my skin though. I looked really white. So I decided to go back to MAC & I couldn't be happier. At first when I was using MAC I looked orange, but this time when I went back I got matched up perfectly!! Eddy did an amazing job matching my skin to a foundation. I felt like he really cared. He asked me what kind of skin did I have & asked me questions on what type of foundation I wanted like the type of coverage, powder, liquid & so on. Then he taught me some things. I've been to a few MAC counters at Macys before and this was by far the best experience I've had. I scheduled an appointment with Vanessa to do my makeup for a night of wild and out and she is super AWESOME, sweet, funny, and talented. She definitely knew what she was doing and her skills are freaking amazing!! I love have she manage to find a perfect skin foundation shade for my oily/combination skin type and applying it with such perfection making my skin looking flawless. I love it!! I had such great compliment on my skin that night and along with the sparkling, bright eyes she did for me. I love learning new things especially with Vanessa because she taught me step by step on my foundation routine and how to do a smoky eye look without making my eyes appearing smaller than it is. Vanessa is one of a kind as a make-up artist because not only is she knowledgeable about the products, but she gives you an honest opinion about what works for me and what doesn't. Another thing I love about her is that she doesn't force products on you to buy them. She gives me options and suggestions of what I might be interested in and looks good on me. If you ever go to this MAC counter, ask for Vanessa. I promise you that she won't be like them other MAC makeup artists that gives you an attitude when you ask questions or ask for help. I already use mac and wanted to be matched for a different foundation. The girl didn't even care. She tried a darker and lighter shade of prologwear on my face. Didn't have the right one. Didn't bother to clean it off. I asked to be matched for matchmaster and she gave me an equivalent number to what i use in studio fix and went on talking to her coworkers. Did not even try it on. I've been coming here for years only because it's convenient. I don't think there's been a visit where I was completely satisfied compared to my trips to Valleyfair or Stanford. You'd think Valleyfair & Stanford will be worse cuz of the type of shopping center they are. No, I actually get 100% better customer service there than at Newpark Mall. The people here don't really acknowledge clients & go out of their way to help them. 90% of them are stuck up. Before, I didn't care for customer service as long as I get what I need. Now, it's something I value because it makes MY shopping experience more enjoyable. read more

This counter isn't as big as some of the other Macy stores, but it serves it's purpose to get what I need for the basics. In the past I have attended some of their events at this Macy's and had my makeup done here. If I want to buy a lot of new stuff and want good customer service I'll go to Valley Fair or Stoneridge. It never fails that they don't have enough people working so you have to wait so long just to tell them what you want. Over the years they have had some good artist work this counter and I'm always sad to see them go. I like that they don't rush you once it's your turn to be helped, but I think they should always have one person free to help those who know exactly what they want and ring them up. I will have to agree with some of the reviewers that not all the artist at this counter are the friendliest, but I'm more concerned that they do a good job with my makeup so I don't worry about that too much. read more

The customer service is terrible. I went to this MAC counter to buy a quick gift for a friend. I knew exactly what I wanted to buy and expected to be in and out within 10 minutes or less. When I arrived, I was not asked if I needed help, and there were only two other customers. I asked one of the employees to get me the product I wanted, and she said to just give her two minutes. However, afterwards, she proceeded to help a woman apply her makeup and two minutes turned into 15 minutes. I decided to just ask a different employee, where she said "I'll be right with you." She never got to me (I waited about another 10-15 minutes) until I interrupted her while she was helping another customer. All I wanted was to get a simple eyeliner, and it took way more time than I had anticipated. Considering there were only two other customers and no line, purchasing an eyeliner should have only taken 5 minutes. read more

Today i went in for a couple of specific items. And since it is saturday it was obvioudly busy. I didnt mind that it was busy. What i did mind was that not once while i was there was i asked if i would like any help. Even the lady that was sitting in a chair waiting for the girl she had an appt eith to do her makeup had to keep going to the cashier and askig where the girl was to do her make up. After about 20-30 min of standing there feeling like an idiot i walked over to benefit. Within the first 5 seconds i was greeted and asked to wait while she was helping a customer. And i was fine with that. Another benefit lady walked up to me as she got back from her lunch and offered me service right away. And since i already knew what i wanted skin care wise i ended up buying the products i needed from benefit and actually a couple of extra things as well. Thank you mac for horrible customer service. This is my first review EVER! I was a little skeptical from reading previous post to try this MAC counter....however, I took the plunge and called to set up an appointment. Spoke withe a lovely lady named Alica, she was professional and courteous. I was booked with Danny, and I have nothing but praise for his courtesy and knowledge! He taught me techniques of applying makeup that I can do myself, without me being overwhelmed by all of the different products. He never once "pushed" me into buying anything! (I did go there prepared to make a hefty purchase, there was no way he knew that) when other customers came to the counter, I did encourage him to "make the sell" as I suspect that the 'artist' works on some form of commission. If you are seeking an educational enlightening experience; I would highly reccommend Danny. He is young, but very knowledgeable, and never blinked an eye for helping a fifty five year old woman feel beautiful! Thank you Danny! read more
