Upon walking in & out of this store, i passed 9 employee's thats the number i counted after passing 2 employees that they flat out ignored my smile and head nod. I love the way my lips look with the Mac glosses! I freaked out when I noticed that I was almost out on my favorite lipgloss so I came to this location for more. There were some ladies doing makeovers which is fine, but there were 2 just walking around rearranging stuff. I waited patiently at the counter waiting for someone to come up and ask if I needed help, when no one came I walked around to where the girls were at and they completely ignored me. I like MAC a lot for my make up goodies but don't expect great service at this location. It may be because there weren't enough girls around but I was waiting for someone to ask me if I needed help. I was eye ballin' those pretty made up faces and no one came over. So I said, screw it, and left. Usually, even when it's busy I get at least a "hello." Now I've learned to just got straight to where the exact make up I want and pull it from a drawer. Went to this location in my recent days. I went in there not really knowing what I wanted and let me tell you I left there with a boat load of stuff that I definitely needed!! I chose an awesome foundation and got the perfect primer with SPF!! I am in my late 30s and let me tell you the products I was recommended were exactly what I was looking for. Haley, who was assisting me at this location at the time recommended me the following products: fast response eye cream, studio water weight, SPF50 Primer, mineralize skin finish. All those products were for my face. Now, I'm a lipstick girl! I usually choose nothing but reds because I am dark skin or tanned complected. Haley took me to another level when she recommended me the following lipsticks: Viva Glam Taraji which is on the brighter pink side and rebel which is a deeper pink. I LOVED THEM! I also got the Taraji Gloss and Power Supply which is almost like a sheer red but you can wear it over your lipsticks. All in all my Experience was wonderful. I like MAC products, however, I think this location is awful. I went there last night and it wasn't even busy and I got crap service. Here is the breakdown: - 1 representative was doing a makeover on someone. - 1 representative was doing a makeover on what looked like to be her friend. (I get that we all have visited friends at work). - 1 representative went on break or something. - 1 representative was on the register and couldn't help. - My representative helped me by answering a couple questions, I told him what I wanted and that I had more questions about other products. He said he was going to get the products I wanted and put them at the front desk. He never came back, and when I turned around -- he was applying make-up on someone!! It's one polar extreme or another. When they're off, then they're on point, but when they're off, they're falling-off-their-chair off. I like Mac in general, and over the years I've been a loyal customer they've mostly been helpful but recently the people here have gotten quite relaxed about their customer base. If they see a potential sale, they'll stop talking to you and go for the kill with another person. In the business sense, it's natural, but in terms of customer service it's a compete dud operations system. I know you gotta make your money, but are you sure that I wasn't going to buy anything? In general it makes Macy's and MAC look like a bunch of money grubbing bafoons. Not the best look in fashion. I just have to say that no matter what MAC store I go to or MAC counter I stop at I always get treated right. I guess, I am someone who doesn't show up demanding help or giving attitude or trying to sample all the shades and dont plan on buy anything. The "WORST RUDE AND UNEDUCATED STAFF" ever.. So I gave a call to the Mac dept to exchange the item I purchased at Macy's 4 months ago. Unfortunately I lost my receipt and the box in which it came in. However as per MACY's return policy (from their website) you can return or exchange at item without proof of purchase that cannot be validated by Macy's system and a store credit ll be issued for the item's 's lowest selling price within past 180 days. I spoke to Grachalle - manager at Mac and initially she just ignored stating that's all crap and they dont have such return policies. So I went to macy's website and read out the policy to her and she said "oh ya Macy's has something like that but not applicable to MAC. I again spent 20 mins in proving her that MAC is listed as one of the dept in their list and all return policies applies to Mac aswell. It wasn't enough she went on challenging Macy's policies and at that moment I just gave up. I mean seriously? They work there and don't even know company polices ?? It was such a waste of time and energy to talking to Mac staff. The manager was way to rude and I felt she didn't know anything. I then called the MAC located inside Macy's at oakridge mall and Mac lady agreed for an exchange without any questions asked. I wish I would have called them earlier. The reason why I'm giving them 2 stars is because I went to get my make up done a couple months ago (but I forgot to write the review until now). I was seated and as the girl started doing my eye makeup, someone walked past her and said, "Remember, you have 30 minutes so try to do it fast..." keep in mind my eyes were close because she was doing my eyeshadow but I mean I could still hear?? :/ hmmm all the other times I've gotten my makeup done at MAC they always took their time to make sure the outcome was flawless but not here at the NEWPARK location ... well at least not anymore. I've been to this MAC counter before, and have never really had anything to complain about but when I went today (a Thursday at 11:30 am), I guess I just expected to be helped a lot faster... I usually go on the weekends, when they are super busy, and it just seems like you don't have to wait around for as long... I don't know how many times the lady told me she will be "right with me." I patiently waited as they sold people single lipsticks and eye shadows, meanwhile, here I am, itching to spend some $$ and I am waiting... Finally I get helped. I tell the lady I want a dramatic new look, I tell her what colors I have, and what colors I want to try.I even show her pictures of how I normally do my dramatic make up, and it seemed like it took forever for her to get all of the colors she needed, and still walked away about 100 times before she actually got all the make up on my face. Management at this mac counter needs customer service 101. If a customer is late 15 minutes they r turned away, but if a customer arrives on time and the artist is 20 minutes late management does not have the common sense to have empathy for the customer until the customer has to bring it to her attention THAN she apologize. Some key facts there were 4 FREE artist, the counter was not busy and when our artist arrived she helped ring up another customer buying product can u say wtf are we invisible?? Thank god this was just a appointment for my 16 to be exposed to learning how to apply makeup and not a appointment of importance. I love the products and everyone is really nice when walking through or shopping around and the people always change... I'm writing this review on their schedules for having your make up done ALONE. During the week they won't take you until 1pm... which is ridiculous... they should have appt slots for anytime from open to maybe 2 hours till close. They would be able to see so many more people, meaning they'd make more money. I just don't understand. I didn't realize people only get their makeup done in the afternoon, late afternoon or evening. I shouldn't have gone here. I saw the reviews were very bad for this location but I just needed to get 1 thing and I figured it'd be fast and not a big issue so not much room for a bad experience to be had. Right? Wrong. I don't remember the name of the woman who helped me. She was really rude the entire time. You know when someone is forcing themselves to be nice? Yea, that's her. I didn't even do anything. I wasn't wearing makeup because I don't wear makeup everyday and I was just running errands that day anyway. I just needed to get 1 spiked eyebrow pencil. That's it. It was slightly busy in there. Not by a lot though. It was a Sunday and I expected them to be hella busy but they weren't. There was literally only 3 customers in the Mac kiosk/ store, Me, a woman who was already getting helped and then a 3rd just browsing. But it took them a long ass time to get my 1 little stupid eyebrow pencil. I honestly could have gotten it myself. It did not need to take 15-20 minutes to get 1 thing. The girl told me I should buy two because spiked pencil runs out fast. 1) I don't wear makeup everyday. The 1 pencil lasts me like 3 months. 2) how can you be rude to me and then try to garner another sale?! I should've just said never mind and walked out because guess what? Like I mentioned before, I don't wear makeup often so I go through it slower than most. But what a coincidence this pencil only lasted me 2 weeks. I swear she gave me a half used pencil. Sucks that there is no way of knowing until it runs out. So now I'm gonna have to go back and either get my money back ($18 for 1 stupid, half empty pencil!!!) or get another one. First off I just want to say I'm not a picky person and I consider myself being pretty understanding when it pertains to working with the public since I as well works within this industry but the gals working at this Mac are lacking good customer service. I don't wear heavy eyeshadow make up when I go out but MAC's products are great. They have an unlimited about of shades and finishes, the sky is the limit. On this occassion I purchased their eye liner gel and the ladies here are super friendly and helpful. The only bad thing about THIS particular MAC station is that it is on a really bad spot in Macy's. Everyone entering the store to go into the mall walks through this area and it's always a hassle. You can't even look at their products without being bumped into and/or rushed so that you can move out of the way. :( read more

Okay I'm so overdue for this review! I went to MAC one night about a month ago. My purpose was only to buy lashes. I usually try to go in and out because MAC employees don't have the best attitudes. Let me tell y'all my whole opinion on MAC employees changed by meeting FAITH she's a makeup artist at the Newpark mall location. I rarely wear makeup and was completely lost looking for some basic items for an event I had to go to that night. Here come Faith to the rescue helping me every step of the way. Not only did she go out her way to put my lashes on me she also matched me with great foundation and hooked me up with a spray that helps makeup stay on all night. Thank you Faith for restoring my faith in Mac. I ended up going to Mac to just buy some lashes but I left with foundation, eye brow pencil , and a finishing spray!!! Thanks again Faith. read more

I had my make-up done by Coco for my birthday dinner. She's super nice and tries to accommodate your style and preferences. I don't normally wear a lot of make-up but I wanted something more dramatic for my special day. I was putting my trust in her hands and crossed my fingers that I wouldn't turn out looking like a crack whore. Ultimately, it turned out great! I recommend that you ask for Coco if you ever get your make-up done at Macy's Mac. In general, the staff is always friendly when I need assistance. I've given up on this location after years of trying to get some decent customer service. I'm not sure if its because they are understaffed but I highly do not recommend this MAC Cosmetic counter. I am a freelance makeup artist, I have some knowledge about their products, and have an expectation of what kind of service I should receive and this location doesn't cut it. For those who are willing to drive a bit further, I do recommend the MAC Cosmetic counter at Southland Mall. I've never had a consistent color matching with this location. I've had maybe 2 experiences out of many over the past 4-5 years of purchasing MAC Cosmetics that a sales associate on their staff has gotten my shade and undertone correctly. I have an unusual skintone that is not quite warm or cool, but somewhere around neutral. I'm not sure how this location hires their workers but some don't seem educated enough to be selling cosmetics to people if they can't provide a solution to everyone's needs. They sell great products but their sales associates needs to be retrained, hire more sales associates at this counter or a better system of how their sales associates communicates with each other and who is stationed where. Being busy and lack of staff is no reason to be rude or neglecting potential customers. Greet them kindly and tell them you can help them as soon as you can does wonders, trust and believe that. If a customer has an appointment, it is understandable that sales associates cannot help customers, but there needs to be other sales associates to help with regular customers. I would ask for specific items and they say they will get my items to the register for checkout, but some how the few steps to the register never happen and I'm waiting at the register to pay for items that aren't even up there yet. I've had a few friends get their makeup done at this location, and it would be decent but not what I would expect from the MAC Cosmetic brand. Blend, blend, and blend would be my advice to some of those sales associates and learn color theory of what works with certain undertones and shades of skin. My skin changed drastically after having my baby last year, everything I used to be able use on my skin is now too drying and oxidizes super orange and makes me look gross. I finally decided I need a color match and some help. I've never worn MAC foundations or concealers but decided to try it out since they seem to have so many different kinds. I came in, no make up on, toddler on my hip and was greeted by the sweetest girl. I can't for the life of her remember her name, but she was super pretty, long black hair and her make up slayed. I explained to her my issues and she recommended that I try a foundation with a more yellow undertone to cancel out my pink hues in my skin and showed me a pink and yellow on my skin and lord she was right! I got the studio sculpt which is pretty hydrating without slipping right off my face. She had the same skin problems I did so she was spot on. We moved to concealer and she matched me perfectly! I bought both and some fix plus from her and she told me if for any reason these oxidize weird on me to bring them back and see her, which was a nice touch. You can tell she's passionate about her job. I've been wearing my studio sculpt and pro long wear for about 4 hours now and no oxidizing or settling into fine lines super happy with my experiences and will definitely be back. read more

The MAC counter is bright and shiny and I love bright and shiny things so I give it a 4 even though I have never actually used the product. Again, like a small child, I like bright and shiny.
