Leaving a review to share a really kind experience with a Mac consultant named Margarita. I came into the makeup section looking for a gift while most counters were quite busy. Although I was looking at another counter initially, Margarita came right over from Mac offering to help. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and made the shopping experience a total joy. She even offered to wrapped the gift beautifully and just seemed to go out of her way to help. Really appreciated Margarita making a shopping errand such a nice experience!! read more

I like it I want it I bought it. got my new shades of MAC lipstick. Love coming here because I always get a new makeover complimentary and these gals always teach me new ways to makes my eyes bigger. I tried to call to make an appointment for 2 days. Their phones weren't working so I drove to the store and walked in to make appointments for 2 makeovers. That should have been my first clue about how unprofessional that store is. Made appointments for my niece and I to have makeovers. Niece was scheduled for 2:00 pm on a Tuesday, I was scheduled for 3:00 pm. We arrived a couple of minutes before our appointment times. We were acknowledged and told Jennifer would be with us shortly and to have a seat. 22 minutes later, Jennifer sauntered out finishing her lunch. No smile or greeting or apology for making us wait. She began working on my niece and within 1 minute, left her for 7 minutes with no acknowledgement. She went to help someone else. She came back and within 4 minutes was gone again to take a phone call to do some staff scheduling. The whole appointment was supposed to be an 45 minutes to an hour. From start to finish, it look about 1/2 hour but here's the thing - she only actually worked on my niece for a TOTAL of 13 minutes, and left the appointment 12 times. I counted. Yes, 12 times. Unacceptable. Next was my turn. Juan was assigned to me. He was 16 minutes late because he had to clean his brushes. If they know when their appointments are scheduled, why aren't they staffed and ready? Why weren't his brushes clean? I was there on time. Why couldn't they be on time? And if I am paying for their attention, I do NOT want them wandering away during my appointment to help someone else. I dropped $200 on products. You'd think they'd be willing to be a little more professional. The makeup was very pretty but I cannot recommend that store for makeovers. They are completely, unacceptably unprofessional. Never again will I set foot in that store. I will buy my product online and if I ever want a makeover again, I'll go to a different brand or store. Truly horrible customer service. I couldn't even bring myself to tip the artists. Not for poor service like that. read more

So grateful for Juan and Dominique's amazing artistic skills!! My face is forever in your debt! Every single time I come here it is always bustling with curious shoppers and yet Juan and Dominique consistently make it a priority to greet everyone with a kind genuine smile! The whole staff is truly welcoming and delightful. I marvel when people suggest MAC is too pricey, honestly it's not! It's great quality make up and skin care for a fantastic price. My favorite go to eyeliner lasts about 3 months... that's top and bottom kids daily! #GraphblackLover at $17 it's a steel considering a CVS liner with less quality goes for $14 and smudges all over. Recently MAC has introduced $10 minis! How fantastic I can buy new fun colors and try new trends at such a reasonable price! I am not sure what to rate this store... I stood literally in front of two associates, clearly needing help but their conversation was more important than my desire to make a purchase. Why is it that MAC employees have this attitude like they are better than us "regular" make up wearing people ? Hate to break it to you, you put blush on people in a mall. It's your job... Not sure why you take pride in making your clients feel like we're worthless. The counter at Nordstrom is always much nicer and less snooty, which is surprising because Macy's in Carlsbad is kinda gross you'd think they might be more down to earth. None the less, Mac is one of my fav makeup so I continue to go back. Maybe next time I will have a different experience. read more

I went to Mac tonight around 7:30pm on my way out of the mall. I knew what I wanted, it was just a matter of grabbing the tester and taking it to the counter... If they are commission based it was a free sale to the employee but I guess they rather lose business... I walked in and no one greeted me... That's okay. I was looking for a Vino lip liner and still no one acknowledged me... Still fine. With the Lip liner in hand, I headed to the register to check out and I get stuck behind a lady taking forever(still no acknowledgement). As I wait in line I notice a girl in the lipgloss area trying on various products... When it looks like it's my turn to check out the cashier leaves without saying a word to me, goes to check on the girl in the lipgloss area, and gets her a brush from the brush wall. She then proceeds to the cash register and tells the girl she will process her purchase at the register next to the one I'm still standing at as if I didn't exist... AGAIN she still hasn't said a word to me or even looked at me... Thats when it went from okay to completely UNACCEPTABLE, so I walked out. I get she was the only employee but if she would have acknowledged me at least once.. Maybe even said "oh I was assisting her before you walked in and it'll be just one second" it would have been fine, but alas that is way too much to ask for from this store. I can choose to purchase online instead of coming into this particular store... But for what? Mac apparently doesn't want my business... I get better customer service at CVS when I buy NYX. Save your money and Skip this store, it's on its way out. Urban Decay next door was much more accommodating. read more

I came in looking for a powder and all the employees were so rude , I couldn't believe that these people looked so negative . Like put a smile on your face and do your job correctly!! Now the 5 stars are strictly for Jamie. I have been to this location several times and every time i feel like the employees look at me like im dumb because I don't have tons of make up on. However, Jamie is very outgoing, funny, and does amazing make up. The whole time she showed me how to do things myself, what we were doing step by step and also made me laugh. She took her time and made my make up look amazing to the point where people were telling me all night how beautiful it was. If you go to have a make over make sure to ask for her!!!! read more

Dominique is absolutely amazing. Came in to get color matched and assisted in finding a more natural and faster makeup routine. She didn't disappoint, as she sat with me testing different products and doing comparisons with me. She was so genuine and kind. She didn't push products on me to purchase either. I have always found this store to be fine. The employees have always been helpful - stressed/slammed at times - but always helpful. They do tend to be out of products, and I wish they carried all of the MAC products, but thats a policy problem, not the store's issue. read more

Today is the last day I will ever enter this store. I have been coming to this store for over 4 years, and the service has always been less than desirable. I came in today to buy foundation. There were 3 associates, two were doing makeup, one was at the cash register helping a client, I thought finalizing a sale. The one at the cash register nodded to me. I waited.....all I wanted was foundation and I had another appt. to go to. The next thing I know, the associate was heading to a makeup chair with the client following. This left NO ONE on the sales floor. As I did not want to be late for my appt., I left. This is not the first time that I have been treated like someone who didn't count at this store. I don't know, but I won't be back; furthermore, I will be changing my foundation to another manufacturer. I know I'm a senior citizen, but that doesn't mean that I should be treated this way. I also DO NOT look my age. I guess you only count here if you're under 45. Think I'll go back to using Bobbi Brown. Not happy. read more

I went to get my make up done here for the marine ball. While the girl was running a little late.and I was worried my look would have to much black smokey, since my dress was green and silver but the girl, I believe her name is Candace, did an AHMAZING!!! Job on my make up. She helped me an eye shadow to use everyday to bring out the green in hazel eyes but still kinda natural looking and totally nailed it perfectly!! My foundation also matches and fits my skin really well. I'm not a usual Mac kinda girl, mostly cause it's pricey but those two things are worth it and I'd go and request this girl again and this Mac anytime. read more

I originally wanted to give 2 stars, but the makeup did look FABULOUS and I received a lot of complements so I decided on 3. I was part of a bridal party that had made appointments to get our make up done for a wedding. Now, I don't know their definition of appointment but mine is it is a time that is set aside for YOU. we obviously were on a time schedule because there was a wedding to get to and these girls TOTALLY threw us off schedule and had us running around like crazy afterward. While doing the makeup the girl who was working on me left me to help a customer for 20 minutes!! I was sitting there for 20 freaking minutes just WAITING for her to come back.... completely unprofessional!! I think I would use MAC to do my makeup for a special event again...but maybe not this store. read more

Okay, so I've written a review before about the Sephora at the promenade mall in Temecula the standalone one and the one inside JCPenney's. I wrote how they have several employees working there, yet they don't ask customers if they need any help. My issue is not with the employees at the Mac stand-alone store or the Mac store inside of Macy's my issue with Mac stores in Temecula is the fact that they only have one employee it seems working. I went in the standalone Mac store at the promenade mall in Temecula today the employee Greeted me and told that she would be with me and one moment. Which was great.....BUT as I look at the matte lipstick I wanted I noticed that there was a lot more people than I previously thought. The employee who previously told me that she'd be with me in a moment was going to be pretty busy, as she was the only one at work there was no other employee. So I leave and go to the Mac store inside Macy's, and again there was only one employee with several customers. Why is there only one employee per store? Although they were great, attentive, and friendly, just one is not enough. read more

The girls at this mall location are like the chicks straight out of mean girls. Didn't get service when I walked up to the counter. Had to go out of my way and actually interrupt them gossiping about some customer to get a question about false eyelashes answered, only to be met with a snotty, curt response. Not impressed. I've been going to this same location, same store for 10+ years. Sometimes there's a wait before you get to speak to someone but nothing has ever been hard to deal with. On this day, I know I was pushing it to get to store on time. I actually got to the counter at 7:51 pm and I know store closes at 8 pm. I'm also coming from Fallbrook so I took a long drive to get there! I needed two items: turn in my recyclables for a lipstick and foundation. When I got to the counter Miranda was counting her box already so I stood still and asked if I could still shop. She kept counting her money. That's when my sister said, well you still have 9 minutes before closing. So she finished counting her coins and then asked me what I needed while at the same time staring at my daughter and nephew (toddlers) as if they were going to trash the place. Anyways I asked for NC 40 liquid foundation but then realized I had tried on NC 42 the other day at Temecula's Macy's so when I asked her to see it, she said "ugh I have to go" and went over the counter and tried searching for it. I said it's okay never mind and she rang me up. By now it was 7:59 so it wasn't like I made her stay longer than her shift. I hope Macy's gives their employees time after the store closes to count their register and doesn't expect all that to happen before 8:00 pm. Might I also add the other make-up and perfume counters were still ringing up customers with a smile on their face. read more

I make it a point to avoid this MAC counter. I have repeatedly experienced terrible service. It's a shame that their focus is more on themselves than the customer. I've stood around for over 15 minutes with zero service or even acknowledgement for that matter. Do you know what I can do with those 15 minutes? Travel a few miles down the road and purchase all my products from the MAC store at the Forum and that's exactly what I do now. Even though I really dislike this location, I gave it two stars because of the one time I had a very pleasant experience. I think the girl who helped me that time was the manager so it's weird that she doesn't hold her employees to a higher standard. read more

I was very disappointed by the lack of service I encountered earlier today. I came in and went to an associate who was putting an item back in stock and asked her for help finding something. She told me she was going on break but would ask another associate behind the counter to help me. While she did walk over to the counter, she didn't tell the second associate anything. There were a total of 3 associates and 3 customers, 2 of which were in line to pay. This second associate was standing there cleaning her brushes, but she didn't even bother to acknowledge me--even though I was right in front of her on the other side of the counter. I must have stood there for at least 2 minutes before I decided to walk away. I've worked in retail as well as hospitality, so I know good customer service. I don't mind waiting if it's busy, but I don't appreciate being ignored. I'm taking my business elsewhere! read more

Booked a make up appointment 30 days in advance. The appointment took 2 hours bea cause the girls were short staffed on a busy Saturday afternoon. My artist had to keep leaving to help customers and check them out. The make up was horrible. Missing primers, I had a do a lot of my own application. Love this MAC counter at Macys! They are all super knowledgeable, and really helpful. Chelsea did my makeup last time, it was absolutely pro skill. And she will take time to explain how to do the same look at home, and which products you need to help you achieve awesome model like makeup at home. I went in hoping to exchange a wrong shade of concealer that I ordered online and I was greeted by Holly and she decided to demonstrate two different shades on my skin along with two different shades of foundation. I really appreciated the amount of time she took to help me choose the right shade. I felt confident in her opinions. she is very knowledgeable and courteous and is definitely an asset to the MAC cosmetics store inside the Macy's department store, in Carlsbad, CA. I had the worst experience ever in my first time in the make up industry hoping to learn and feel actually pretty willing to pay a decent amount which in turn is their commission but was so embarrassed by how badly I looked, I ended up in tears. I will never go here nor Mac in general again by how badly my experience was. read more

I went into Mac to grab a blush that I love and the guy working there greeted me right away with a eye contact and a smile. He grabbed me what I wanted and didn't try and push other products on me. When I did ask about a different product he seemed more than happy to show me and how worked compared to an older version that I have become accustomed to using. All of the tables the make up sits on were clean and so were all the testers. Just a great experience overall and I will be back to this specific location in the future. read more

Save your time and don't get your make-up done by any artist that can't seem to get their own make-up right. Margarita is the lady who did my make-up. I explained the colors and what I wanted, only to get the complete opposite. I wasted my time sitting there for almost and hour and walked out with make-up that was caked-on and pink. I went into this store and asked the lady the # and what foundation I wanted. She looked at me with a blank stare and acted as if I were stupid. She said there were a lot of foundations in that color and I needed to be more specific. I am not a make up aritist, I rarely wear make up, so of course I don't know these fancy names they use. I asked her if she could help me by showing me the foundations and I could pick out the one I use. She didn't even do that, all she did was stare and said their were too many. I have been using MAC make up for a while and always have walked in, asked what I wanted, and I would be in and out in 5 minuets. She is NOT helpful at all. We stood in silence for a long time and she made me feel like I was stupid for not knowing the exact name.
