In short, I was treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer looking to spend money. I didn't enjoy my experience here due to a clear lack of professionalism from one of the staff members this past weekend. I stopped into MAC because I have a few events coming up and was specifically looking for blush recommendations. When I asked for suggestions, the staff member pointed out a few options but ultimately told me I could "just swatch as much as I want until I find a color I like." They seemed more preoccupied with cleaning up the store than actually helping me, and the interaction felt rushed and dismissive. To make matters worse, as soon as I left the store, they left shortly after--I can only assume they didn't want to assist me because I was getting in the way of them clocking out. If that was the case, they could have at least passed me on to another associate instead of making me feel like an afterthought. Based on this experience, I'm not surprised the store is often empty. read more

Love this store! I've been using MAC makeup for years and usually buy online. Since moving to Brentwood last year I've been going to this store to buy my makeup in person instead. The staff always greet me when I walk in and say to let them know if I have questions and let me browse at my own pace. They're always super helpful when I need assistance grabbing my makeup shade. Usually I come in with one or both of my kids, who inevitably get restless and seem to want to run around, and the staff always make sure to help me check out fast so I can reign in my kids The staff are also very personable and friendly. I'm actually surprised with some of the negative comments. I've been coming to Mac Brentwood for the last 2 years and the girls (Brianna, Tiffany, Leah) that's done my makeup has always been GREAT! They are amazing makeup artists and are very knowledgeable with all the Mac products. Every time I've gotten my makeup done and a customer comes in they ALWAYS stop to acknowledge the customer. Made an appointment to get my makeup done by Tiffany, my appointment was set for 4pm. Three weeks later I show up for my appointment 15 minutes early and checked in with one of the girls, she said Tiffany was on break. 4 pm came around and no one acknowledged my presence, waited 10 more minutes and no sign of Tiffany or anyone else trying to help. This store needs more employees, and the ones that are their need customer service training. Super disappointed. Will not be supporting this store anymore. first and for most the review is 3 weeks late due to a very busy work schedule. I walked in to get lashes done for a family photo session and ended up getting my whole face done. Lea helped me. Lea was super sweet, helpful, and took time to get to know what colors I liked, what colors everyone would be wearing to match our outfits, but also to bring out my eye color. I ended up coming out looking and feeling gorgeous! She explained what she was using while doing her makeup. She was so knowledgeable and professional. My daughters makeup looked so beautiful!!! Just what she wanted. It wasn't too much. I visited this store twice lately with a young adult friend who is developmentally disabled, and I want to complement the staff, particularly Mia, for being a STAR makeup artist, staff member, and human being. SO enthusiastic and BEYOND kind, Mia answered endless questions, showed dozens of products, demonstrated techniques, and taught my friend how to do her makeup. She spent a lot of time with us, and was helpful, generous, delightful, welcoming, and in all ways far beyond expectations--without making a sale! My friend will purchase as her budget allows, and I will be a Mac fan for the rest of my life. This is a lovely store with good workers who have a passion for beautiful makeup and, more importantly, have the gift of human kindness. Bravo! read more

I was fine with that and showed up within 30 minutes of calling, I was then told by this same individual that I could not be helped as they were the only person there. Mac has the best make up it's been around for a long long time I'm 59 years old and it has always been been one of the best make ups for ALL skin colors. when Mac started it had make up for all skin types and color black, brown, yellow, purple, blue and pink. Learned so many new tips at their makeup class that was taught by Leah. Kim assisted us with pulling the products that we wanted once the class was finished. I am from Modesto and have been traveling to this store instead of shopping at my local MAC because these girl's are always so nice and welcoming. I started going to this location over 5 years ago and in all the times I've visited them they have always been sweet! It's refreshing to meet and interact with employees who love their jobs and are nice. Nowadays a friendly staff is hard to find when visiting a business. I will continue to shop here and will definitely be attending another makeup class. Leah did a great job explaining each step and demonstration the best techniques to accomplish the look. I can't remember who the associate was that color matched me but it was spot on! Since I received such amazing customer service I have returned to this store plenty of times. No, that's a bunch of house fraus clucking over what ever the employee is showing them and having nothing better to do than spend their husbands money. I'm standing at the check out counter for 5 minutes and still have not seen anyone or have been acknowledged. All I needed was a set of fake eyelashes because I ripped my last ones in half. I'm usually intimidated by makeup stores/counters and will avoid them until I nearly run out of my few essentials. My intimidation was slightly appeased a few years back after receiving the most amazing makeup application and service at a M·A·C store, but after my last visit to this particular location, I will continue to keep my distance. I do purchase online more than in store but there are times I have went to store to get something when I don't want to wait for shipping. I have also taken my daughter here several times to get her makeup done for school dances and it always comes out great! The only thing is you have to pay a set rate here where as at the Macy's location you can buy product to get your makeup done. I highly recommend setting an appointment especially during prom season as they get booked up!! I entered this MAC store and was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was with his client applying her makeup. He told me that the girl at the register was just finishing up and she would be right with me. About 10 minutes later, I still had not been helped. I waited and listened to the girl (do not know her name but thin blonde lady) at the register chit chat and re-ring a customer three times. They chatted about everything under the sun. She had to keep doing the re-ring cause the machine kept timing out. She never acknowledged me. The gentleman who greeted me, asked his client if it would be ok to help me and he started to help, as I was only there to pick up one lip glass. Soon after, one of the other makeup artist returned from lunch and she took over and finished my transaction. BTW- the other woman was still chatting it up with her customer. After my transaction was completed, the other cashier then finished up with her customer at the register and then she left for lunch. Horrible customer service. I just feel like she should have acknowledged me and told me someone would be with me soon. But she instead, continued a senseless conversation, while ignoring me all at the same time. Never once did she make any contact with me. I feel like she was either lazy or racist. Whatever the case may be, it was totally unprofessional of her to ignore a customer and chitchat for 10-15 minutes, instead of doing her job. read more

I always heard MAC employees can be slight racist. Not saying that all are, but my walk in was like that. I knew what I was coming in for, and I had my bf's younger sister with me, who's in her teens and has purchased MAC products before. So of course we can afford high end products. Once we've walked in, there was only one girl who was re organizing in the store and we were the only customer at that moment. But she didn't bother to give any type of customer service AT ALL. But when another family who was Caucasian she immediately greeted them and helped them the whole time. Then came in three older African American ladies and they never got greeted whatsoever and they were trying to get help but all the employee did was pay attention to the Caucasian family. When I was ready to make my purchase she was so quick to be all nice while ringing up my items. In order for me to get help I had to personally go up to her and ask when she could've just easily greeted us and ask if we needed any assistance I would've been in and out of there in less than a minute. It was difficult to get her damn attention because she was so into helping that other family. She could've got back to her organizing real quick. read more

Did I mention how fantastic the artists are here?!?! So you know you have a problem when all the artists recognize you or know you by name. What can I say, I'm doing my part to help save this economy. With that being said, I could write and epic novel detailing all my wonderful experiences here. This place was a blessing this weekend! I was in town for a wedding and the salon where I got my hair done couldn't fit me in for make up. I called about three days before the wedding and they told me to walk in and it was a good chance they were going to be able to fit me in. I came right when they opened and they were able to take me on the spot. Soooooo relieved. My artist was Ashley I believe and she was a sweetheart with so much talent. She is awesome in creating dramatic eyes. Another bridesmaid came in our wedding party came in after me as a walk in and they were able to fit her in as well. So this is what I do when customer service is lacking at MAC stores: 1- I oggle at the associates sometimes giving them the stink eye 2- I'm that annoying person who stands by the eyeshadows picking up each one and not moving noticing theres a line building up behind me or 3- I pick my nose haha no i don't do number 3 in public. I am a MAC gal. Everything I own for my face is MAC. I use to love coming to the brentwood MAC because of the friendliness and it's very close to home. Lately there service sucks.. Tonight I went in to look for an eyeshadow and the person working showed me one and just handed it to me.. He didn't even bother getting a brush out and apply it on me... UM... this is very unlike MAC just to hand you something.. So I had to swatch the shadow with my fingers.. EW.. yeah infection control ! so as I was digging my finger into the eyeshadow the pigmentation wasn't that good. I told the man that the pigment isn't strong enough.. and I asked him what he thought and just told me... HELLO ITS MAC.. I love MAC but i have bought items that SUCKED from MAC. He didn't even bother showing me another color... I really hate it when I get poor service at places where Ive had the best experience before. I'd give this place ZERO STARS if I could. This store, on my two occasions of popping in, was not busy. The last time, last month, there were three employees, two customers, and I walked in. I was not greeted, and an employee actually bent down in front of me to get something out of a cabinet and never acknowledged me! I could have gone from zero to 100, told those bytches I make more money than they do, acted a complete fool, etc. Instead, I walked out and spent my $$$ elsewhere and complained. Recently moving out here to the little town off the 4, i had two options: 1. Deserted Antioch 'mall' which has the M.A.C. counter in their Macy's for my refills & 2. The M.A.C. store in Sunvalley Mall which is almost half an hour away for splurging, playing & peeping out new collections. So then last year while exploring the new shopping center in Brentwood (this location used to be murky fields btw) i was more than shocked to see that a new M.A.C. store opened in this location.... ....This meant that my makeup haven is now right around the corner...just like my Target, just like my Starbucks...just like the corner 7-11. This was BIG to me. I've never experienced a time when i was not greeted. Artists here are attentive & knowledgeable. (ME): "i need Luna, phloof!, stud, #2, & NC43" ....in less than five minutes i'am handed my creme colour base, eyeshadow & lashes with ease. Finished with (ARTIST): "& what type of foundation was it for the NC43?" =) So for those of you who are probably just intimidated or feel like they are being selective about their customer service M.A.C.
