The cherry croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky, with the acidity of the cherry adding just the right kick to this breakfast pastry. I was initially hesitant on getting the clam chowder at a bakery and was thinking of getting it at a seafood restaurant on Cannery Row, but the reviews were glowing and the price was reasonable. I'm glad I took a chance on it, because the bowl was chockful with clams, potatoes, celery, and a briny creamy seafood broth base. The ambiance in this bakery is great- there's a beautiful wall mural on the back wall of this bakery and lots of inside seating. Don't miss out on this spot!

Recent visit to Monterey, I went to have my fav but wow.. all the pastries were flat. They were not risen they all looked cheap, pretending to be french pastries... and chocolate cake and the rest did not look french at all. In good french bakery will never advertise $30 for 5 pastries. We ordered cappuccino and cafe a'laite . Worst ever. Bitter and tasted cheap cheap coffee. This is not french bakery/patisserie it was once. I doubt that it is under the same ownership. So very disappointing.

Delightful cafe, with delicious pastries, cute tables outside and friendly, helpful staff!…read more We got here a bit later around 11 am so we definitely missed some of the popular items like the ham and cheese croissant. I will try to come earlier and see if they have it next time! I was in the mood for savory not having eaten breakfast yet so the quiche was calling me. This was my first time here and many people ahead of me in line were ordering them. Truthfully I'm not really a quiche person but this one looked divine. Maybe because instead of a slice of quiche it was my own little quiche. It was so savory, flavorful with the perfect balance of goat cheese and tomato! (I got the goat cheese & tomato flavor obv). They also heated it up for me! It was delicious and the crust so flaky. I also got an almond croissant because I love me some almond filling. This too was delicious! It was really cool to try their style of almond croissant which is a flatter style--flaky and moist and crisp. My hubby got the apricot pastry and it was also so good! I am ready to visit here again the next time I'm in Monterey! Hopefully I can snag a table outside this time because it's such a cute outdoor space to eat after getting your pastries.

This pastry shop has been a local favorite in Carmel for good reason. It has been around for about…read more12 years, and I have been coming here at least once every two weeks for that entire time. There are a lot of great bakeries, pastry shops, and cafés on the Monterey Peninsula, but this one has always stood out to me for its quality, consistency, and charm. They usually have at least 15 different varieties of French pastries, along with mini cakes, bite-size tiramisu, brownie bites, and premade sandwiches. Everything is beautifully presented, and you can tell they care about the details. I also order large amounts for my staff at least once a month, and they absolutely love when I bring these treats in. One of the best things they offer is their fresh focaccia flatbreads on Saturdays. If you're lucky enough to come in around 10 in the morning, you may catch them while they're still warm. They usually make three or sometimes four different varieties, depending on what the chefs decide to create that day. There isn't really a set menu for them, but in true French fashion, they put out whatever they feel inspired to make, and it is always amazing. The only problem is that they usually sell out within an hour, so you have to get there early. I honestly don't understand why they don't sell those focaccia flatbreads throughout the week, but I'm guessing it comes down to quality. They seem like perfectionists, and that is probably part of what makes everything so good. When you get one warm, it is absolutely worth the trip. The pastries are excellent, the quality is consistent, and the shop has become one of those dependable Carmel places that locals truly appreciate. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee, but I'll admit I'm a bit of a coffee snob. That doesn't take away from the overall experience at all. After 12 years of coming here regularly, I can confidently say this place is special. It is warm, consistent, high quality, and very much part of the Carmel community. Five stars for sure.

I had forgotten that's where it is located. It was about 11:30am on a Sunday morning and there was no line. I expected the shelves to be bare, but they still had lots of items available. I bought a pre-made mini chicken sandwich and a chocolate croissant. Both items were utterly amazing. The mini sandwich was made with the most scrumptious bread and something in the sandwich gave it a delicious little kick that I loved. The chocolate croissant was just plain fantastic. I'm going back to Carmel Valley in late summer and can't wait to get another mini sandwich or two and a croissant.

We began with the "Gift from the Coast," a sequence of five bite-sized starters that showcased beautifully layered coastal flavors. Right away, the crustade, Wagyu tartare, Morro Bay oyster, bluefin tuna, and especially the hamachi stood out as highlights. The progression of courses continued to impress: abalone with heirloom asparagus, kinmedai, and diver scallop each reflected precise technique and pristine ingredients, all rooted in coastal influence. The roasted duck and rib-eye--enhanced with an optional A5 Wagyu addition--felt like a perfect, indulgent transition in the meal. To finish, snap peas with pickled strawberries offered a bright contrast, followed by pumpkin seed ice cream that closed the experience on a thoughtful, refined note. The service team--Joaquin, John, Danny, Vic, and Nishal--elevated the evening with attentive, warm, and seamless hospitality. Their timing and coordination were impeccable throughout. Special thanks as well to Cameron for handling valet parking effortlessly. The dining room itself was immaculate, including the restrooms, and carried a quiet elegance. The custom-made plates and bowls used for each course added another layer to the overall aesthetic and artistry of the meal. It's hard to fully capture how memorable this dinner was, but it easily ranks as one of the best dining experiences I've had.
