I've been a customer at MAC Cosmetics in the Olympia Mall since late 2008/09. I've always been met with great quality from their products and from their employees with excellence service- very nice, informative and helpful. As a consumer that buys cosmetics, I expect the best from what I buy. Everybody wants their purchase to satisfy them. However, I was unsatisfied with my last visit, and it was indeed, my last. The way how they handled me and my purchase (actually, a return this time around) was unjust. On the 8th of June I was persuaded to buy two lipsticks and a lip primer. The SA there was helpful, and she really made it clear that if I don't buy them, then I'm missing out, etc, that they looked great on. At home I tried to make the lipsticks work, they felt uncomfortable on my lips and made them dry.
Living far away from the store I returned them on the 22nd. My surprise when I approached the counter and the same SA who helped me last time told me: "The truth is, we've noticed- my manager and I- that you frequently buy and return items, which isn't good for our store because the items that you return, are considered as 'damaged goods' and we can't sell it. So, just to let you know, next time when you buy from here you should try it on in-store, so you don't return it again." Really? You guys watch me? Didn't know this was a chapter from 1984- Big Brother is in fact watching me, apparently, and they're in Macy's. And the fact that she said "if I try in on in-store I wouldn't return it." For one thing, you don't know, and I'm not any different from a person that buys more and returns once a year. It doesn't matter, and that's none of your business. I just nodded my head to what she was saying, got my money back, and left in a flash. After such an experience, and even calling the manager to complain, I still won't go back. I've said thank you to Tasha who took my call and told me that she will talk to the SA, but I'd rather spend my money at Sephora or Nordstorm, where they handle my purchases/returns much better and professionally. No questions, no rude 1984 reference. Once does it for me, I will never go back. read more
