I tried @maazschicken for the @rifoodfights #bestsandwichri challenge and was I blown away! This was a find. The sandwich was good, with aioli, lettuce and pickles - better than most fast food chain's sandwiches (and comparable in price). The bun was really fresh. Just solid. There was a selection of sides and I went for the mashed potatoes. The potatoes tasted homemade (not from a box - I'm looking at you, KFC). The Oreo pie was very good too. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a small setting area. There was also off-street parking, which is nice. The staff was very friendly. I will be back! (I want to try their fried chicken!)

Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Stopped in for a chicken sandwich. As far as fast food goes, I don't think you can ask for much more. Sandwich was made fresh to order, took about 10 minutes from ordering and it was tasty. The sandwich used a nice and thick piece of chicken breast and it didn't feel too oily or greasy while eating. I got the spicy chicken sandwich which was the same as the original except you get a side of spicy mayo. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich. The space is brand new. It's nice and clean and our service was good; friendly and timely. The parking lot is a little tight but there was no one else there when we were, so a non-issue. Can't say the area is the best ever, but that's not Maaz's fault. Spicy chicken sandwich came in around ~$7.75 about 1 buck higher than something comparable @ Chick-fil-a, so I'd say it's a fair price. Some bars/restaurants are charging $12-15 for a similar sandwich. Try it out!

Fried chicken 5 piece

I ordered via uber eats and the food was still hot and fresh when it arrived. Mashed potatoes 5/5 5 piece chicken randoms 5/5 sooo good. Significantly better than Honeybird in my opinion. Mac and cheese 3/5 was just ok. Didn't really have much flavor I am looking forward to trying a rice bowl next.

We actually ended up at Yellow Door Taqueria somewhat by accident. We were doing one of our usual…read morebrewery and cocktail crawls around Providence this past weekend and had planned on stopping at Bayberry, but apparently every time we tried to go there they had a wedding and weren't open to the public. So, Plan B it was, and honestly, I'm glad we ended up here. Yellow Door has a really fun atmosphere. The playlist was lively, the place gradually filled up while we were there, and the whole space has a vibrant, welcoming feel without becoming obnoxiously loud or chaotic. It's very aesthetically pleasing, with a colorful, modern look that fits the whole taco-bar concept perfectly. It feels like somewhere you could drop in for a couple of drinks and tacos with friends and just hang out for the evening. Our bartender was really nice and attentive, and the cocktails were probably the highlight of the visit for me. The drink menu is extensive, and there are plenty of interesting options rather than the usual handful of margaritas and beer. Everything we had was well balanced and well made. Providence has been having something of a cocktail renaissance lately, and Yellow Door fits right into that trend. The food was good, although I have to be honest about the birria taco we tried. It was tasty, but it wasn't exactly a life-changing taco, and it was on the small side for the price. I was expecting something that would make me immediately understand why everyone gets so excited about birria, and this one didn't quite get there. That said, "good but not mind-blowing" is still good, and I'm not going to knock an entire restaurant because one taco didn't knock my socks off. We only tried a small portion of the menu, so there's plenty more to explore. That's actually one of the reasons we'll be back. I want to try some of the other food, and I'd like to come on a different night to see how the atmosphere feels when we're not in the middle of a weekend crawl. Sometimes a place hits differently when you actually sit down, order a few things and give the menu a proper chance rather than treating it as one stop on a larger evening. Overall, Yellow Door Taqueria is a very solid four stars. The atmosphere is fun, the space is attractive, the bartenders are friendly, and the cocktails are genuinely good. The food we tried was good, although the birria taco didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Still, there's enough here that I'm interested in coming back and trying more, which is ultimately a pretty good endorsement. Sometimes Plan B turns out to be worth keeping on the list.

This Restaurant is apart of the Aloft Hotel in Providence, which I have stayed at and enjoyed doing…read moreso. With that, I hoped to have a similar experience in their restaurant, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Also, please read my review with consideration of the fact that I, myself, worked as a server for over a year and am pursuing a degree in hospitality management. I am not a customer looking to complain and am a guest who seeks good experiences and would love to share them with others. Restaurant was not busy, still waited 10 minutes to be served after I was seated. I didn't get up to leave because I wanted to give this place a fair chance and no other restaurant nearby appealed to me. My server was very direct and to the point, no "thank you for your patience" or "how are you today?" Just straight to "what can I get for you". It felt like I was an inconvenience to her time, not a noticed guest whose business is appreciated. My water ran out and my server quickly placed a jar of water on my table as she passed by, with no comment. Again, made me feel like an inconvenience to her time, not a guest worth speaking to. My elote was served on the cob, I asked for it off but its fine, I know how to cut corn and it was plated beautifully and tastes delicious. I think more of a cream would be good on it but it was good elote nonetheless. My two small birria tacos took 30 minutes to be served. I had my elote to munch on, however 30 minutes felt a little long for a simple, two tacos. When they arrived, my server said more to me and told me to enjoy them, which was appreciated in comparison to no comment to me. The tacos were amazing despite their size and wait time, and my server kindly checked in on me after a few minutes of them being served. I did, however, Overhear my server say "sorry for the wait" to the table behind me of two women, which makes me think I was being overlooked because I was a lone diner as opposed to a party of some amount. When I was done with my food my server kindly offered me a box and prebussed the table. The music was played at a respectable volume and the lighting was adequate, not too dark and not too bright. The restaurant also allows for a lot of natural light which is very nice. Both the elote and tacos were $12, leaving my total after taxes and a credit card upcharge at $26.64. I expected to have a great experience and be able to leave at least a 20% tip as I always do, but unfortunately the service I received equated to that not being the case, and I unfortunately had to leave a little downwards of 16% instead. Overall, I would eat here again, but I think I would have to bring a party of at least two other people to get the proper attention to the table. I'm not sure if I would recommend this restaurant for other people to try as there are many other Mexican restaurants in the area that I have yet to try that may be worth more recognition. However, until I do try them, I would definitely say this place is an adequate restaurant to eat at, but probably only if you're staying at the Aloft and don't want to walk too far.

The overall experience left a mixed impression - great location, interesting menu, somewhat slow service, issues with the food & timing confusion with the daily specials. Before heading to the restaurant, I checked out the website & the daily special pop-up board said "Join us every day from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM for our $2.00 Street Taco Special." Great! Let's do a couple of tacos along with some drinks. Unfortunately, the waiter said it was only 3-5pm &, even though it was 5:05pm, they wouldn't do it. Okay... so we moved on. Hubby ordered a Modelo Especial & I went with passionfruit house margarita. It was a little too sweet for me so I asked for a little soda water to dilute the passionfruit syrup. We are both huge fans of pozole & you don't see it on a lot of menus. It is a traditional Mexican soup made with hominy, pork & broth - either red or green. We should have asked because we prefer green but it was the red variation. It came with a platter of toppings so you could customize each bite. The broth was nice & spicy. Unfortunately, the pork was more grizzle than meat. Hubby selected the Wet Burrito: a large flour tortilla stuffed with grilled shrimp & chicken, rice & queso dip, then doused in more queso dip with pico de gallo, guacamole & sour cream as sides. It was ginormous but consisted of very little shrimp & chicken. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the appetizer pork belly chicharron. Good-sized pieces of nicely charred cubes of spicy pork. It came with pico de gallo, guacamole, beans & warm tortillas. It was delicious! As the restaurant is still relatively new, they still need to iron out some of the operational kinks & hopefully will settle into its groove. We will be back (from 3-5pm) to check out the tacos!

My friend Mechelle wanted some street tacos and we decided on this restaurant based on the good reviews. We walked in and sure enough, there are only 6 tables in the entire place for a sit down meal....small, cozy and authentic. Since I speak Spanish, I said hello to the lady behind the counter and she was super nice and friendly. She brought the menus and asked what we wanted to drink, I said tap water.... We ordered some tacos and they were all Wonderful.... The corn tortillas were grilled and warm when they hit our table and the fillings were delicious. I had the chorizo, carnitas and barbacoa....all three were good, but the carnitas was outstanding...I will get that again next time I visit... My friend Mechelle got the asada and the shrimp and she loved both...the shrimp pieces were big and grilled.... Overall great service, friendly staff, excellent flavors and affordable prices... We ordered the chips and guac for 14.50, which comes with beans and salsa, and says says free refills (menu attached). We asked for one refill of beans and one of guac. When we got the bill, we were supposed to see charges for the beans and guac. Our server explained that the free refills were only for the chips and salsa. We asked to see a menu again and pointed out that it says free refills. Our server contacted the owner/manager who doubled down on the misleading statement and charged us for both refills (total of 10.50 additional cost). It's really a bummer because I had read a bunch of reviews on here and my takeaway is that the food is great but the management leaves something to be desired. Be upfront with your customers! It's a great restaurant with delicious food, I'm glad small businesses exist, and I wish that we had been treated with more grace and honesty. Losing $10 on your end (or even just being upfront and stating the refill policy on the menu) is well worth it for a positive customer experience. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but took 1 off for the misleading pricing and another for the way that it was handled by the manager.
