The staff is so nice, friendly, and genuinely excited to be there - and we loved that there were so many staff on the boat, it really helps the whole experience feel polished and safe. Captain Ben was great and found us several pods of whales to see on our ride back! Beth was so wonderful - constantly checking if anyone needed snacks or drinks, had trash to toss, needed a warm rinse after getting back up on the boat! It was cool seeing Beth free diving around us too! We dove in Brian's group and he was AWESOME, pointing out tons of unique sea life! I like his flippers with his name on them in bright orange! This charter is basically like "full service diving" - it's amazing. They set up your gear AND switch them over to the new tank between dives, have tons of snacks, drinks, and sandwiches, and are just wonderful folks. We loved that the boat had an upper deck too! We also appreciated that especially after all the rain, they made sure to find dive spots with good visibility. We already can't wait to come back!!

The rental equipment is in good shape and they have good brands/models. We dove with them multiple days and had some unique experiences...just see the pics!! We would recommend them and will be repeat customers!

After reading many rave reviews for Maui Dreams, I enrolled in the Rescue Diver class through their…read moreshop. I scheduled the class a few months in advance, and they even advertised it to recruit another student (after all, you can't rescue yourself!). I learned from the best--Kerri is a true expert in both diving and instruction. He is incredibly patient and explains concepts clearly. He took the time to answer all of our questions and really instilled the importance of dive safety--that anything can happen at any time, and you always need to stay aware, especially in and around the water. We practiced multiple real-life rescue scenarios in the water, which made the training feel practical and incredibly valuable. I learned so many important skills from Kerri--both ones I hope I never have to use and others that I will carry with me on every dive going forward. I look forward to diving with Kerri and the Maui Dreams crew the next time I'm on Maui!

I was a long time customer of this shop who spent thousands of dollars over the years. I had a good…read morerapport with the staff and owners, until I made a social media post mildly critical of a different dive operation. After that, the owner was very cold and curt with me for a couple of months and I finally asked why. I got yelled at for 15 minutes over that social media post and during that time I was insulted, had my ethics questioned, and was threatened with a ban from the shop once my tank rental card was used up. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life, to get excoriated by the shop's owner over a post I made about a different dive operation. I will no longer give this shop my business. The owner will likely respond that this was not a customer service experience with their services, like rentals, retail, etc., however a few months ago, I tried to get my divemaster certification renewed prior to the above event, and they could not even get it together to give me a price or a possible schedule with the owner referring me to the instructor and the instructor referring me to the owner. Rinse. Repeat. It was the most frustrating and unprofessional PADI training experience I ever had. And when I did my MFA/CPR certification with them, the CPR dummies did not have batteries (or they had exploded from disuse) so they were totally unprepared on the day of the course. And during the course I had the displeasure of watching the instructor mumble through the cheat sheet on his phone, covering unnecessarily what I had already gone over in the eLearning, and they very inappropriately shared with me a personal medical emergency example that involved an emergency heart issue arising from solo use of viagra. So very unprofessional. Granted that instructor no longer works at this shop, having quit or been fired shortly after that MFA/CPR course. I finally got my divemaster cert renewed with an independent instructor without any hassle. Why was it so easy for them and so hard for the shop? Also note, that after I got my divemaster cert renewed the owner reached out to me to see if I was interested in a job and seemed very enthusiastic about the prospect of me working for them. We met and I declined to work for them as I still had full time work. So any aspersions the owner may cast on my character after this review should be viewed with that in mind.

Michael did a great job of going over what to expect. He did a great job during the dive as I originally struggled a bit, mostly due my long layoff from diving and the current. However he kept me calm and I improved my technique during the dive, I was use to drift dives. I was originally scheduled for a 2nd dive but we spent 55 minutes on the 1st dive, more than I expected. I didn't expect that length of time or that heavy of a current. Scuba Shack refunded the cost of the 2nd dive. It turned out 1 dive was perfect amount of time and we saw lots of fish, juvenile rays and even a turtle.

We were 4 snorkelers with 6 divers. We had to be at the marina at 5:20am and the early start was worth it. We were the 1st boat out to Molokini. We got to watch the sunrise while the scuba divers got ready. Capt Charlie was the over watch for us snorkelers and he gave us very clear instructions on where to go and how far away from the boat we were allowed to wander. Next stop was Turtle town, we only saw one turtle but still enjoyed an hour snorkeling around. The staff was great and the snorkeling was fun. We went back in to Scuba Shack a couple of times and every time they gave us great suggestions on places to eat that didn't disappoint.

We docked at the Molokini Crater to rip a quick snorkeling trip. I've never been much of a…read moresnorkeler, as I have what is likely the worst case of thalassophobia that any human being has ever contracted. The ocean scares me more than I can put into words. However, if my Mom is going to go snorkeling, what would I look like backing out? We got our snorkel gear on, and I made my Dad jump in first to make sure there were no apex predators waiting to swoop the first thing that came off the boat. Once I saw him chilling there for about 30 seconds, I jumped in hella nonchalant. But when my 5'10.5 176 lb orangutan-like frame submerged in the water, I went straight into fight or flight. When you looked at the ocean floor below, you could see a submerged cliff that dropped straight down. All you could see was the vicious, unknown, and unforgiving deep blue. The most unsettling feeling I have ever had. What is down there? What is coming for me? I'm just floating here like a sitting duck? HELL NAH! I closed my eyes and made a beeline STRAIGHT for the shore about 40 yards away, where there were 30+ other tourists snorkeling peacefully. Once I made sure there were at least 5 other people a shark would take out first, my heart rate started to stabilize. I began to appreciate the bustling life in this crescent shaped volcanic crater that is a protected marine life conservation district. I saw 100s of fish that I didn't know existed. When the rest of my family and local Hawaiian tour guide, Bailey, caught up with us, I began PEPPERING him with questions. 'What fish is that? How about that one? Why is it named trigger fish? What's the coolest thing you've ever seen here? Does it get old doing the same tour over and over again?" Bro HAD to be so annoyed with me, but I just couldn't help it. He was so passionate, engaging, and knowledgeable. Shoutout to Bailey. My favorite fish I saw was this vibrant, multicolored fish that genuinely looked fake. It looked just like that Rainbow Fish from that book. I followed it around for 10 minutes, and asked Bailey what type of fish it was. "That's a Parrot Fish! It actually is one of the few fish that can change its gender as a part of its natural life cycle. They also eat algae off of rocks that smother and kill coral reefs, and then they poop fine sand which is a major reason for many tropical beaches." I asked if Parrot Fish tasted good and he said "OH YEAH... well they are a bit of an acquired taste, but I love them." Bro is an encyclopedia. I arrived at Molokini Island scared to death of the deep blue, and also left the same way, but with a good amount of knowledge on Parrot Fish. This is what life is all about... The actual snorkeling is pretty bad....there's practically no coral and all you see are like the same 3 types of basic fish over and over... even then there's very little fish in general. I was expecting a huge coral reef with lots of fish. There are so many better snorkeling spots in Maui.
