What a wonderful little find in cozy Closter, NJ! Found this little gem on Instagram and just had to try out Vietnamese food for the first time. I totally fell for their tofu bahn mi sandwiches and their light and healthy veggie spring rolls. They're not big on vegan options but they'll work with you to give you something hearty and fresh. I gotta say, didn't really know how crispy tofu would turn out but when it's combined with a cornucopia of carrots, cucumber, string beans and jalapeños on a toast of fresh buns, it becomes too good for words. I totally recommend that, the veggie pho soup (for when it's so so cold outside) and their cooling veggie spring rolls. Wish the staff was a little bit more personable, but understandably they probably like to give their customers space. Keep it up! read more

It is a new, clean and neat place. However, I do not give credit for its flavor. I gave 3 stars because of the fresh ingredients. Summer roll: they say it comes with 2, but it was actually one roll cut in a half, so 2 pieces to be exact. Veggie was really fresh and the roll itself was great. However, 1 roll for 4.5 dollars? Pho: okay.. really I would give 1/5. It has no flavor, both broth and noddle. Again, ingredients are really fresh. I eat Pho at least twice in a month, but it was by far the most plain one. It tasted like water. One pro is that the price is reasonable. Fried rice: This was good. A little too much sugar, but with sriracha, it was good. read more

this place is about 5 minutes from my house. it is a small, but very cute restaurant in a diverse part of NJ. the food is beyond good... phenomenal even! I always get the beef pho and I'm in love. the price is so affordable, with amazing quality food. if you order, it only takes 10-15 mins before you pick it up. I've been feeling so sick with my allergies acting up the past few days and boy did this pho really help me clear my sinuses! t'was so good too let me tell ya... I ordered from DoorDash actually and the app worked really well and I received texts alerting when my food was ready to be picked up. I went in and there it was! Super excited and once I got home, I was so impressed with their to go packing. The soup and noodles were safely secure and they provided everything including the hoisin and sriracha sauce in packet form which I've never seen. Once I finished my meal, my tummy was definitely satisfied. Next time, I plan to take a visit and sit down to eat, but I must warn you the space is very small.. party of more than 3 will be kind of tough to be seated. For my first time experience, I must say the food was awesome and tasted like authentic viet food unlike the other places I've been to around Bergen county. If you love pho like me, definitely try the beef pho. It had chunks of beef that absorbed the savory soup and I couldn't stop slurping... the summer roll was super packed with veggies and pieces of shrimp.. Rating based only on food. Large portions and good prices. Sandwich was great, pho dip, but meat did taste under seasoned, but sauces made up for jt. Chx fried rice was prepared similar to a pad Thai, and you get a lot, but while it was ok tasting, it did not taste like Vietnamese food... like it was lacking key flavors that I would expect to taste at any other Vietnamese restaurant. Pho was where it was a disaster. The soup was more like a pot roast soup, the broth (main part of pho) was severely lacking any flavor... like it just tasted like beef broth from the grocery store... not a slow simmered beef knuckle soup that has time to reduce... there was also a lacking of the taste of herbs and spices... and the meat was precooked brisket... real pho is raw meat inserted into the soup and the soup cooks it.... pho is about the flavor of broth... not the meat.... So not bad food, but certainly not Vietnamese food... this is like fake pretend Vietnamese that tastes decent and is large portioned. read more

I'm originally from queens New York and I grew up eating pho from authentic Vietnamese restaurants so after moving to New Jersey it was hard for me to find a good pho spot. The one closest to me is Ma Mi Eatery is pretty good. Broth tastes clean, good portion of noodles. The only problem I have is wish they can slice the meat thinner. It's pretty thick and can be a bit tough to chew on while eating it with the noodles. I usually get the beef pho and bah Minh sandwich(pork). Another fav is the bbq pork buns(these are good). The duck buns r ehh but i def had better duck buns else where. The food is all fresh and clean so that's a plus! read more

We really couldnt be happy with Ma Mi Eatery, while mildly embarrassing, we've both eaten in and had take out several times over a very short amount of time, including twice in one day. The staff/chef/owners are very friendly and accommodating, we've tried several dishes and the quality has been great, all of the ingredients are bright vibrant and always taste ultra fresh. We love the variety and the food is well priced especially for a bergen county. Such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

From the moment you walk in, the staff is quite pleasant. The menu all looked great and we really wanted to try everything. We ordered the Duck & Bbq Pork Bao buns along with the Shrimp Pad Thai Noodles all reasonably priced. One word "YUM" !! The duck bao buns were our favorite all fresh and moist that we see ourselves coming there on a regular basis. Normally, we make our way to NYC for this, but can I say that our favorite spot in NYC has some competition. My kids enjoyed the Shrimp Thai Pad which was also very tasty and well proportion size for what you get. Also the Thai Ice Tea was the perfect additional to wash it all down! The food is well presented and uses quality ingredients. Super clean inside. The only thing I would nitpick on was that I once ordered a fish banh mi and they told me 30 minutes for pickup and when I got there at 25-30 it was completely soggy and soaked through. I would have rather gotten a call right after it was ready or had them prepare it a little closer to pickup time because it was kind of inedible but otherwise great food and I love ordering their spring rolls. read more

update on 11/11/17 I ordered my usual beef combo pho to go and was SUPER excited to eat it to warm me up until I opened it. As soon as I opened the pho soup, I could tell something was different. I looked and saw a bunch of fatty brisket chunks floating on top with a layer of fat. I tried to skimm the fat but theres so much grease and fat that I can't get the greasy taste out of my mouth... I have wanted to go here for some time, I love good Vietnamese food. My first impression of this cafe style eatery was that is was clean modern and simple in design. I went to get take out to bring home on the spur of the moment, which is not something I typically do as many foods do not taste good to me unless eaten right after they are freshly prepared, so I am careful to order items that are fine at room temperature. The menu is not huge but it is well selected. I ordered vegetable summer rolls, crispy tofu bao buns and a special of peanut/coconut/siracha noodles. All of these were items that would be appropriate eaten at room temperature. The crispy tofu bao buns were the hit! I would definitely go back for those. They were well balanced, full of flavor and stayed nice in transit. The summer rolls were honestly not very tightly packed, a little large, sloppy and not flavorful. I would have appreciated some of my beloved Vietnamese pickled vegetables in these rolls. I find that very good summer rolls are delicious. The noodle special had a delicious sauce, but truthfully, we just found the noodles much too heavy for us. I would have liked to try the sauce separately on a lighter dish. I realize that this could be a personal preference for a dish that may seem like the ultimate comfort food for someone else. Anyway the sauce was very flavorful and well balanced. I want to add that the staff were two young women who were very helpful and sweet with recommendations and sharing their favorite item choices with me as a first time customer. It's a great option for a quick bite and we come here often. Love the concept. The reason for 3 stars - what's up with the garlic lately?! They seem to love adding it by the pound which masks all other flavor. We keep asking for no-garlic and sometimes they don't get it (especially if you order for pick up). Mami is a sister restaurant of Simply Vietnamese in Tenafly. I always get their phõ along with some other dish. I've ordered multiple times for pick up and they do a good job. One time, I ordered a sandwich but there was some miscommunication and they gave me the wrong one, however the staff were really kind and corrected it. Delicious food with fresh ingredients. I have ordered take out at least once a week for myself and family. Prices are very reasonable. The Duck Bao Buns are my favorite. The ambiance is bright, clean and decorated in modern, minimalistic fashion. Just off Main Street in Closter. There are a few tables by the windows offering a perfect view of one of the side-streets if you want to sit down for a quick bite. Your spicy buttermilk chicken bahn mi is really great. Nice balance of flavors, and priced reasonably. Honestly one of the best bahn mi sandwiches I've ever had, even if not the most traditional style. The inside of the store is cute, and designed tastefully. I've always wanted to try a banh mi sandwich & bao bun. Found this here on yelp & decided to venture out for lunch. This place is tiny with a minimalist, sterile decor and very clean. Most people were take away orders with a few dine in when I went. I ordered the original banh mi & a spicy one, pad thai noodles with chicken, shrimp & pork fried dumplings, tofu bao buns & shrimp chips. Everything ordered was very flavorful, nice portions & for the most part well priced. The coconut curry on the tofu bao buns was so delicious. I'd love it over a bowl of jasmine rice alone!! The banh mi were great, I could only finish 1/2 of mine. While the pad thai was good, the noodles were stuck together & clumpy and the chicken was sparse. The only item I thought was over priced we re the shrimp chips. 6-7 chips with a dipping sauce for $4 is a bit steep. The establishment is clean and service is friendly, but they are more of a fast service place, mostly take out, though there are a few seats available. We come here often for beef pho and the pork banh mi sandwiches. The broth is light and tasty with a generous amount of noodles and beef. Their pork banh mi is very good too, with crispy toasted bread, well seasoned pork and really fresh pickled vegetables. read more

This is our favorite new takeout place in the area. Everything is good! We have had the pork buns, which are flavorful and juicy and just the right size. The pho soups are my favorite and there is always enough for the next day. The salads are great too, which is a happy surprise (salads are usually an after thought at Asian restaurants).
