No one likes to move. Its tedious, time consuming, and stressful. People hire movers to facilitate this process. Not worsen it. If you value your items, time, money, and sanity, turn back now. Just go to http://uhaul.com, then pull up at home depot and grab a few guys. You will be better off for far less money. This company is horrible. I meticulously planned my day by the hour. I was required to have the previous apartment keys turned in by 5 PM. Very little room for error. I needed to be moved out, and cleaned by the end of the business day. I spoke with the owner Mase on Wednesday. I asked if they could start at 9. He informed me that they do not start moves until 10 am. We agreed on that time. He was made aware of my time situation. I moved 2.1 miles from my previous 2 bedroom apartment. 1. 10 am comes. Nothing.. Mase then texts me at 10:30 that he cannot find a truck??!!! That is correct. They do not even have a company truck! Literally, the only equipment they have is a flat dolly and wrapping tape. So not only do that not have a truck, he didn't even have the foresight to make a reservation at uhaul for my move. In June. On a Saturday. This also means they do not have the equipment to move your fragile items. Luckily I still had the box to my OLED TV. I call the person who referred these "movers" to me..He and his wife are calling/driving around for hours trying to find a truck. He never even found one himself. Then another person from my job goes to pick it up. Its the smallest box truck uhaul has. One of movers has the nerve to complain that it isn't big enough. M-Town Movers finally arrive at 2:30 PM with NO TRUCK. The cleaners that I paid by the hour arrived at their correct time, 1 p.m. and could not do their job. 2. They moved my stuff in an unattended hallway to "prep" for the truck's arrival. Anyone could have walked by and swiped something. 3. They are extremely inefficient. The first load was on the truck AFTER 5 p.m. My leasing office felt bad for me and allowed me to turn in my keys on Monday morning...For a pro-rated fee of course. I have moved from a 4600 sq ft house in less than 4 hours. 4. I never seen the owner again after the we arrived at my new apartment to unload the first time. This was around 5:30. I asked his employees where he was and they said they didn't know. 5. I directed the 2 movers to where I would like my items. I had to leave and go to work for a couple hours. They just threw everything in a pile in my living room. I could barely walk into my apartment. I had to have some friends come over and help move my larger items to the correct rooms. They put my dresser in the correct room when I was there..When I left they just threw the matching nightstands in the living room. They knew where they were supposed to go. 6. They broke my desk and my dining table. 7. I return to my old apartment the next day. I asked the movers to throw out my old couches. Of course they didn't do that. "Luckily" I had to hire the cleaners again b/c they didn't finish moving my stuff until after 10 pm. They helped me drag them to the dumpster. 8. They didn't touch 2 of my closets. They literally left my neatly wrapped up clothes. The door to one of the closets was wide open. 9. They left my ottoman in the public hallway. They also left the hallway outside of my door a mess. 10. After all of the above he still has the nerve to bill for $1000. For a 2 bedroom apartment. 2 miles down the street. I moved for a 4600 sq ft house for half of that. This is also higher than any of the other companies quoted. 11. When I complained to a mutual acquaintance about my experience, he says: "She has a lot of stuff." Excuse me? What? That is your damn job. He then drops my keys off at my job without even talking to me at all. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. M-Town Movers made an already stressful situation worse. So let me tell you about this so called moving company. Gave me a quote of 295 for a 1 bedroom apartment move. To include a $85 transportation fee. I live 20 mins from my old and new apartment. My 1 bedroom is less than 800sq feet. I don't have any washers/dryers, no dining set, no anything insane. They will show up late and try to charge for the initial time they're suppose to be there. They will charge you a transportation fee and conveniently get lost while trailing behind you and somehow that time is added to your hourly rate. They will give you an estimate and go at least double that. They will move extremely slow and try to make excuses about having to break down certain furniture. I had to tell the boy several times stop trying to break down the bed and just carry it out. After he noticed he couldn't break down the bed...guess how he got it out? By carrying it out. They will move all your items SLOWLY some more. They will try to intimidate you by sitting/standing on opposite sides of the room, luckily my gun and my dude were there because I don't do feeling unsafe. Called the owner and his response "well When people have a lot of stuff and I had a move take 9hrs for a one bedroom." A lot of stuff my ass. Standard living room set, small ottoman, two TVs, tv stand, dresser, a rug and some damn trash bags/boxes of clothes. This 1 bedroom less, approx 5 mile move took 5 plus hours. The guys there know they're running a scheme. The boys look at you like you're going to be taken advantage of. Onnnnnn top of it all. After feeling scammed into paying $600 (oh yeah the owner felt taking $50 off was appropriate). I plug up the tv and it's cracked inside. So these clowns broke my tv on top of it all. Is that not insane? So yeah I'll be writing my review everywhere since they're not answering my calls anymore AND looking into what legal matters can happen. Judging behind these reviews that look exactly like my experience , I have to do something about this so others aren't victim to this ugly scam. read more

Do not use M-Town Movers. Use Above Average Movers @ 678.662.5796. We used M-Town movers to move from 30315 to 30316, approximately 5 miles. We had a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath with patio and front porch furniture. Our experience was not positive. I had to call the moving company to confirm the time and date for the move. They never reached out to confirm as is typical with services of this magnitude. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 10 AM. They arrived at 10:30 in a U-haul truck. I wish I had more positive feedback, but this was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. 1. Dropped our $1,000 Samsung washing machine resulting in significant damage to the side. They ended up having to return to our home to repair it as it was unable to power on due to the drop. 2. Lost a $1,000 green ottoman. 3. Did not install the washer and dryer once they moved them. They had to return to our house a day later to do so. 4. Did not completely put together our king size bed. Our first night, my pregnant wife and I were sinking. Once I pulled off the mattress, the support bar and several slates were not screwed in. They had to return to our house to fix it. 5. Didn't wrap any furniture. Because of this, our Rooms to Go sectional, Broyhill Dresser, and antique armoire sustained damage. While moving the armoire, there is a a foot long scratch in our hardwood floor. 6. Underestimated the number of men and hours required to complete the move. They estimated 2 men for 4-5 hours. It took them 11 hours to move everything; though I expressly stated I lived on a significant hill and no other companies had quoted less than 3 men. I even asked how much it would be for an additional man. I was more than willing to pay for it, but they insisted 2 would do. They were more than agreeable to return to our home to complete the work that had not been done, but in my opinion even that could have been avoided. read more

We hired M-Town Movers to move our family of 7 from Atlanta to Charlotte. We were set for Friday at 1pm. Friday comes & I get a call that the movers were on the way... 3 hours early!! I wasn't ready, I spent the previous night UNLOADING THE DRESSERS DRAWS as instructed by the movers!! (Side Note: Most movers wrap the draws to make things easier for the customer & allow more space on the truck vs. have all those additional boxes taking up space.) Anyhow, they get there.. I do a walk through with one of the guys bc some items were staying. HE DID NOT TAG ONE ITEM. I had to keep telling them "No, no, no!! That stays, sorry." Other than that They moved pretty quickly, but NONE OF THE FURNITUTRE WAS WRAPPED!! (Besides 8 barstools & 1 large glass mirror.) They loaded the truck, but forgot bedrails, the vent for the dryer & a few other items I wanted to bring so we had to load up our cars. We get to Charlotte & it's only one man unloading.. the other men were gone. He brought some of the boxes in & my husband & his friend moves things in with him. Once everything was unloaded, majority of my house was in the garage!! Nothing was put back together. I had to call the manager the next morning for him to send out a moving company to bring the items in & put everything back together!! Where's the customer service here?? Sadly, this is exactly why most black businesses don't get the type of support they deserve bc you have folks out here like M-town movers claiming a business, but not properly equipped or trained. They show up late, they drag it out to where they're playing around instead of moving taking a approximately 5-6hrs for 700sq ft 1 bdrm apt with limited furnishings, quoted $300.00 but after finally finishing charged $650.00 for the hours it took and broke the TV on top of all this refusing to answer the phone. THIS COMPANY NO CALLED NO SHOWED ON MY SCHEDULED MOVING DAY!!!! I received a quote and followed up to confirm. I was then emailed an invoice with ALL the wrong information: person, address, date, time. All of it was inaccurate! A week in advance, I emailed back confirming my information - never heard anything back. Still hopeful that the day of they would show up on time and get the job done. My move was scheduled for Sunday at 11am. I call the number provided for owner, Ed Harrison - no answer but left a voicemail to tell them my gate code and wondering their ETA. 30 min, then 1 hour pass by and I call again to confirm if anyone is showing up? Mind you, my entire condo is completely boxed up, ready for the heavy furniture to be taken care of. Bottom line, I NEVER received a call or email from anyone from this company! This company is clearly unprofessional, unreliable, and probably fraudulent! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - You will be left stranded and stressed during an already STRESSFUL time of moving! read more

Please let me clarify my comment in response to Mr. Harrison. Actually you did not extend apologies to me. You spoke to my husband for the majority. We spoke when it came time for payment. At that time I was unaware to how many things were broken. There was no proper valuation of my broken items. Most of them are wedding gifts, many of them were sentimental and priceless. So...your valuation of $25.00 after not seeing any pictures is ridiculous. There was no proper protocol for assesing our belongings. I simply out of poor judgment was nice to your workers because they genuinely felt bad about the outcome of the move. My treatment of them and giving them a tip came out of the kindness I have because I am a person who believes mistakes do happen. It had absolutely nothing to do with you sir. I stand behind my original comment sir. I understand quotes and estimation of time. I am not an idiot. This is about integrity sir, which you have not exhibited. Dependable!!! This my 2nd time hiring M-TOWN Movers. 1st time they packed a uhaul, 2nd time it was a u-pack trailer. Both times they were fast and efficient. I booked both moves last minute, like within 24-36hrs And they made sure to accommodate me. The movers were nice and took care of my antique furniture. I live on top of a hill. So they made sure to have dollies and roller carts to safely get my items down the hill and into the truck. Great service! read more
