Ok, i have been coming here for years for my Star smog checks. The technician is wonderful he is so nice. He actually makes small talk so you do feel welcome. He works alone but is really quick. Its a shared lot with other auto shops, but ive never had a problem going in or out. The price is in line with other shops for the same service. read more

I'm giving two stars cause... I've been here before, the older gentlemen was very nice and made the process easy for my mom and I. Even gaping so far as calling us "mother" and "daughter" during our visit was was kinda creepy but might just be his way of giving customer service so I shook the weirdness off. It was a great price too, about $60! I've kept this place in mind for my smog check needs. Fast forward to now, I have a completely different car but he remembered me from my previous visit. I told him that I had came for a smog check and let him take care of the rest. However I had to leave before a smog test was paid for/administered...or so I thought. I didn't pay the $85 (it had gotten more expensive?) but he still took the time to FAIL me...because I had to leave? I had to find out the hard way and honestly, I can not vouch for a business that seems to have taken an emotional stance rather than a professional one. I'll be taking my car elsewhere from now on. If the owner or servicer is reading this: I'm sorry I hurt your ego but you should be more professional when someone doesn't give you service at the time being. read more

Went here for a smog and began the process & made us pay and sign & 10 min later tells you it can't pass & begins yelling rudely to fix the problem first when he is the one who didnt OBD test it first.. Stole my money & started offering state help to pay for the fix. What a clown. F this place read more

Stopped here for quick smog of my new vehicle before heading to the DMV since it was in the vicinity of my residence. Conveniently placed between an auto repair shop and an oil change shop. Ample parking available. In and out in less than 10-20 minutes. Price was $60 total. Owner was decent to deal with. Mainly for those passing by and that live near or around the area. Being surrounded by auto repair and oil change shops as well as a tire shop is a plus. Traffic on Rosecrans Ave. can be a bit of a hassle during peak times, especially if you are in a rush. Worth the visit. Would use them again. read more

Lack of customer skills, I spoke to an older Asian man with some very rude and intrusive questions. I don't need you to comment and question about my tags and my car. I'm here to pay for a service not for your damn opinion! You made my sister and I feel so uncomfortable. If you are reading this go down to Long Beach & Compton Blvd it's next to the gas station $10 cheaper for smog and he gives out waters ice creams and sends you home with a box of cookies. This guy sucks. Came in for a smog after reading a fellow yelper stating he paid $60 for an oil change and a smog. This fool told me it would cost $70 for a smog only. Told him he was too expensive. He told me that I could leave! What an ass! read more

Do not go to this guy! He does not have any manners and will not treat anyone with even an ounce of courtesy. He was unnecessarily rude. Instead, go to the smog place right next door. They have better customer service and nicer employees read more

No customer service skills. Went in to get a smog check on my RV. I asked him how much would he charge? He gave me the price of $100 to which I replied, oh I usually pay $70. He immediately snapped and said, " no you leave!" I was so stunned that his response was to kick me out as if I offended him. Needless to say I left. I Don't recommend this place. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. read more

They were able to help me with my smog check and let me know what was wrong with my truck all the way around. I needed an oil change and they took care of it no problem. Also was able to tell me which tire pressure sensor was bad and was able to tell me about my stability track. On top of all of that they topped off all my oil and fluids. Check all of my filters. Yen took care of the muffler delete and Lee and two other very helpful gentlemen took care of my coil overs. I have to say I am very satisfied with the quality of work for the value. They quoted me way under anyone else that I had called prior to going with them. I will recommend A-1 Muffler Express to all of my friends and family. They all make you feel that you're part of the family. They offered me coffee and cold water while I waited for my car to be done. One thing to remember, they are experts in mufflers, exhaust systems, and not any other type of work. But it never hurts to ask if they can do it for you!

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. I'll update this review once I get the car in for my first visit. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

Yes the estimate was pricey but again he was using Merced's parts and we all know that those aren't cheap. But what I appreciated most was their honesty . He told me that the rotors on the back were shit and definitely had to be replaced but the front were fine and if the price was too much I could actually wait awhile (not forever, but a payday or two) before replacing the brakes . I thought this was the most honest expertise I had ever had with an unknown mechanic. If you want the job done right, with friendly, professional people I would recommend this business to you and anybody who needed a wheel alignment and or brakes . Don't go to this business to get a smog check!!! I went to get a smog check from this older racist Asian man, first off he charged me $82 for a smog check that did not pass?! He had me sign a yellow piece of paper and asked for my debit card as If my car passed the smog check. I was under the impression that my car had passed that's why he asked for my debit card, not true! When I confronted him on why he charged me he said, you get free chance to come back so, If it don't pass I keep coming back and you have my $80 dollars?! So much more happened and I'm so upset to even type all that happen this morning. Everyone BEWARE OF OLD RACIST ASIAN MAN! Don't go here save your coins!
