I've used Downey Express Smog Check twice in the past 60 days. Both times Oscar Lopez was fast, efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. I used to use a smog place in Rosemead', but they weren't always reliable. Downey express has reasonable hours and reasonable rates. I highly recommend Downey Express for Smog Checks! I'll definitely go back there when I need another car smog checked. read more

Smog check was super quick and easy! Very reasonably priced and I know because I shopped around Downey. This is my go to smog spot.

Efficient and straight to the point. They are open late too! love that they are accessible.

What kind of business does not have posted hours? This place opens sometime between 8-9 tbd on any given morning. I suppose if you have time and nothing to do just show up and see the f anyone is there. Otherwise go to a business with normal operating hours. read more

We've been bringing our 3 cars here for years, but since Oscar left service is sketchy. When I last took my old car in for smog, the guy said he couldn't do it pending state certification. He said call back in a few weeks. I've been calling for months...no answer. I'm not driving all the way across town to find he can't do it. Forget this outfit. read more

This is my go to place for smog checks. It's quick and easy. The service is great and as well as the staff.

The technician is very welcoming and he did the job very quick. He handle the service and the car very well. Will be coming back.

Very fast service. I was in and out in a few minutes. They had my car running while connected to the computer. The smog passed and was able to pay my DMV renewal that same day. read more

I searched for a place near my work on Yelp, and it showed that it opened at 9 AM. I arrived at 8:50, but no one was available to provide any information about the business. I waited until 9:22, and still, no one showed up. I ended up searching for another place on Google, went there instead, and was done in just 15 minutes. I have no idea how this place has a 5-star rating--very disappointing. read more

I had a horrible experience with DMV staff and came here to have my car smog Christian was so helpful and caring I told him what I endured knowing I was surprised at a huge amount I had to pay that hurt financially and unexpected he was generous and helped me with the charge. he's kind respectful and a professional at what he does. Came here on Friday morning to get my smog check done. There were two men working on a car and they asked me to park on the side as it should be a few minutes wait. Waited about five minutes, then I parked my car in their service area. They told me it would take about 15 minutes to complete the smog check. I literally sat in the waiting area for a little over five minutes and then it was done. The two gentlemen were very friendly and professional. Service was completed in no time. I would highly recommend this place! read more

Second review 6 years after my initial review. I was still in and out in 10 minutes, with all my completed smog paperwork. I love the easement of this service, as an update the $5 off Yelp deal is no longer valid, but still worth the trip for a quick turn around. read more

Quick and efficient! Get the job done! Came in for a smog check, was done in 15 minutes.

They were very professional I recommend this place If you need to have your smog check this is the place

Quick, easy and priced right. Not to much you can say about a smog check location but if your looking for one that shouldn't leave you with any complaints, then this is the spot I recently took a friend here to get her car smoged and we had a quick and painless experience. Note, it can be slightly confusing where to line up your vehicle as this location is in the rear part of a car wash lot. You will want to make sure to observe the cars that are parked and the cars lined up to be serviced as well as making sure they see you. This is to avoid any controversy about who is next. read more

Came here to get a smog check. I was told by a technician I was after one of the cars and that it would be quick. He told me to park right next to the car I would be right after. After waiting 45 minutes for the car ahead of me, I saw another car drive into the garage and I got out to ask why I wasn't next. He seemed pretty confused and pointed at the line of cars, even though he was the same person who told me to park at the area next to the garage. He didn't acknowledge his mistake and just said I could be after the car that's in the garage. I left due to the unprofessionalism and lack of accountability. I do not recommend coming here to get your car smog checked unless you are willing to wait over an hour. read more

They did it again, quick and in and out in 25 min! Highly recommend, professional exceptional service. Thanks guys!

I went on a Saturday morning. I thought it opened at 8:30, and the guys got there about 10 minutes before 9. I mentioned what the hours read online, and the guy said they tried to change the hours but Yelp wasn't helpful. Anyhow, Saturdays are opened at 9 am. I was the first car there and I was out of there so fast. Guys were nice and helpful. I paid $50 read more

These guys are the real deal! Very professional, and get the job done. I believe the guy that dealt with me, was named Joseph. If I screwed that up I apologize. I was in and out in no time flat. These guys are no nonsense. Get in, and get out with your certificate on its way to the DMV. I'm telling everyone about these guys! Oh and the price was probably the cheapest around town. Everyone needs to go see these guys. The price includes the certificate. read more

Came in right now and guy told us he wasn't "STAR certified" even though his banner said "STAR CERTIFIED " in big bolded letters.

Fast service and a great price. Everything they told me over the phone was true. I highly recommend Downey Xpress mug check.

Aside from waiting to actually get the Smog test, the wait is similar to waiting for the 15 min oil change at Vavoline. But once my car got in; it was out in a jiffy! I swear they took less than 10 mins to Smog my car, which was great! Very quick service. read more

Quick and friendly service! Went in for a smog check and was out in less than 15 mins. Looks like it's the place to go because there was 3 cars waiting so go early! read more

The visit was super quick! I can always rely on Downey Express to have me in and out within 15 minutes

It's one stall all the way in the back of the driveway. I was charged $40 for a smog check with an e-certificate. The guy was really nice. Process took about 20 minutes. It was as straightforward as it could have been and I appreciate that. read more

A few months back I decided to stop by for a smog check. It was a little confusing to find as it is located behind the car wash. There's also multiple shops next to each other. Downey Express Smog is the last one on the right. Make sure you get out of your car and approach Oscar before waiting in line if there is one. He'll let you know where to wait and how long the wait is. I stopped by on a Thursday morning about 30 min after they opened and there were 2 cars waiting ahead of me. Each car takes about 20-25 min. For those wondering, they do offer STAR certified check. read more

I called and they do not offer appointments and the times on yelp are wrong. The guy said, "no we close at 5 pm, not 7 pm". Very unprofessional. read more

4/5 Subtracted one star due to the fact that I have been here twice now and both times they have never been opened at 8:00AM as the hours say. So if you're going to get there early, don't get there exactly at 8 or you're going to be waiting around twiddling your thumbs. I'd say get there around 8:30AM and the staff should be there. As for the service itself, quick and easy. No frills. 20 minutes tops. Nice and friendly staff. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. The Downey Express Smog Check Center staff member was courteous and got right to work on my wife's vehicle. He told me it'd be around 15-20 minutes, but finished the job in far less than that (around ten minutes). Will definitely come back for my truck. read more
