Fish and chips with pasta salad, Cajun grill mix
Bobbie L.

My goodness! What to say about this surprising gem. We're planning to move to the area and decided to find somewhere to eat downtown. When we drove by, we weren't sure what to expect. There's a large screened in porch for those who want outside dining without the bugs. There's counter service and plenty of seating, including a back dining room. The furniture is a bit dated and worn, but the food more than makes up for any aesthetics. My fish was buttery and fried to perfection. The breading was well-seasoned, and the tartar was creamy. The Cajun grill platter was huge and flavorful. The tuna came out a perfect medium, and the shrimp were the star. My man finished his plate in 7 minutes while raving about the remoulade. Our server was wonderful, and we'll definitely be back!

We were told to check on the menus (whiteboard) that would be the specials of the day ! We were asked how many in the party! Told to sit where we pleased ! It took about 20 minutes before we received our silver wear and told the servicer would be with us shortly 20 minutes later poof a server appeared ! Took another 15 minutes before we got our drinks ! Then another 30 minutes before food was served! I had a salad my hubby had fish and chips ! Salad was alright he said his fish was good ! This was our second time there same experience the first time so we thought we give it another chance ! Living in oriental there is limited restaurants ! So choices are limited! Will we be back to M&M probably not ! Management need to be aware of the situation of the staff and possibly retraining is required to be aware of the staff lack of communication!

There is a large selection of apps and specials. Haven't had anything on the menu that's bad. They have special apps and entrees that are not on the menu. We prefer to sit at the bar. The main seating area is not for us. Kinda bland. Karen is great at the bar. The wings, buffalo shrimp, steak and salads are all great

A good experience here has about the same lifespan as two scoops of ice cream on a hot summer day! They were one of the few dining options in town that was close enough to walk to and offered a menu of decent variety, unfortunately what appeared to be a great dining experience quickly went straight south as the dinner rush picked up and any organization went right out the window. We were fortunate enough to enjoy our entrees within a reasonable amount of time, entrees that were large enough to not warrant any need for sides, especially when you're thinking of pairing a side of potatoes to one of their quesadillas. The quesadilla's were just that, ordinary quesadilla's and a bit overly cooked. Unfortunately, it took well over 45 minutes to pay the check and collect the dessert to go. The servers are also bussing tables and working in the kitchen, while the hostess / server is the only person who can process a check. Unfortunately, the servers seem to forget to drop off the bills to the hostess while she is at the register. I wouldn't even call it controlled chaos, just chaos, and I would not return. Cheers!

After you read the long list of options you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Super friendly locals run it and it's very clean and spacious inside with seating and outside seating. Drinks and chips and a few sweet treats also available . I had the slim mozzarella sub which was filled with veggies and drizzled Italian dressing in a nice sub hoagie. The salt and vinegar kettle chips were great too. I shared a brownie with my friends and it was delicious. Tasted homemade. My sandwich was nice and fresh and filled me up for my 4 hour drive. My friends had the Big Neuse sub which came on a hoagie too and chock full of meat and veggies. The pizza quesadilla my other friend got looked really good and filling. Full of pepperoni and cheese on a tortilla , she took half home. We had a great early lunch here and it started to get busy as we got done. I'm sure this is a busy place for locals at lunch and breakfast. Great little place for an easy quick meal. Great service too! Not many places in Oriental so I'm glad I found another good one.

Didn't happen to us, but when we arrived, there was indeed a train sitting there, and some cars in front, well, they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. Inside is all vibes, kind of set up like an old pharmacy, but slinging cocktails instead, and I have to say, the cocktails were very tasty and well priced. All the tables were full of friend and family groups playing board games and enjoying various flatbreads and libations. Seems like the kind of place the local neighborhoods enjoy and spend quite a bit of time at. At the moment, can't remember the names of the cocktails we got, its been a few months. But I do remember the toasts. This place doesnt have a kitchen in a traditional sense, more like a prep area where they bring ingredients together (that I imagine are made off site) and toast it up to present you with some pretty unique combos and flavors. Honestly, a great way around some of the health code restrictions that start to apply to more in-depth operations while still having a robust menu. We ordered a variety for the 4 of us, as this was dinner that evening. Gettin Figgy with it was a favorite, as were the Pig and the Goat, and the Reuben. Their version of a Cubano was alright, but as could be the case you'd imagine, the pork was a little dry. The caprese was the only one we got that seemed to be a universal thumbs down, the avocado spread wasn't working with the other ingredients. Definitely would come back for some of these toasts, and drinks!

We were belatedly celebrating mom's 84th birthday, and she had not been to Yoder's in 10-15 years…read more Today was my first time. My aunt and cousin joined in on the fun, and it was my cousin's first time as well. Some in our party got the meatloaf, and exclaimed over how delicious it was. I got the parm chicken with rice, which was a little dried out and disappointing. Enter Yoder's cabbage and Dutch potato sides to save the day! Both were absolutely delicious! The cabbage was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I was delighted to find they were spicy, with visible red pepper flakes. The Dutch potatoes were creamy and cheesy...a new fave! The roll with the cinnamon butter was a treat indeed. And the tea? We like ours half & half...delivered in big cups with extra ice just the way we like it! I also got an English Toffee Latte to go...and it did not disappoint. Neither did the waitstaff, who were friendly, engaging and ensured our food was delivered with a smile. We left with slices of chocolate, coconut cream, and pecan caramel pie, a loaf of sourdough, and a mocha brownie treat for later. Ohhhh, and a ginormous cinnamon roll, cause why not?! The interior of Yoder's restaurant is a rustic place with a lovely shop to wander through while you wait to be seated. They have a lovely bird in the store that will sing you a song and tell you what the cat and the rooster say. So charming! All in all, I've been hearing about Yoder's for years and years...and it did not disappoint! Can't wait for a return visit!

After arriving a few minutes early we were told it would be "a bit" before they could seat us. "A bit" turned out to be more than an hour and even then they sat us at multiple tables throughout the restaurant. After being seated, we were promptly ignored. Fifteen more minutes went by before our sullen, unpleasant server took our drink orders and eventually our breakfast orders. She was not only extremely slow and inattentive, but blatantly disrespectful to one member of our party by rolling her eyes and making gestures when she thought we couldn't see her. Once our order was placed, we waited then waited more. We had decided to leave if our food had not arrived by 12pm and go to Bojangles in Vanceboro, but at 11:50, over three hours after arriving, our food finally showed up. My omelet was enormous and overflowing with ground sausage. It was OK, but would have been better with less sausage. My shredded hash browns were cold. The biscuit that accompanied the omelet was cold and hard. My dining companion liked her french toast, but noted her eggs, though properly prepared over medium, were cold. Same goes for her home fries. However, the buttery syrup, served with her french toast, was served warm and was absolutely amazing. Wow! It made my biscuit edible and was the best part of our meals. The restaurant is attached to a hardware store in a rural part of Craven County. It definitely has a country vibe and was spotless. Incredibly slow and disrespectful service combined with OK-at-best food make it difficult to recommend Voder's Dutch Pantry in any capacity to anyone.

The bartender was busy working and singing in between taking orders as she prepared drinks for customers. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. Dare I say this is the BEST breakfast I've ever had? The Banks Grill absolutely blew me away!…read more Let's start with their "famous cinnamon rolls." They weren't lying about that title! This has to be one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted. You can choose between cream cheese frosting or pecan praline, and I HIGHLY recommend the praline. Here's a little tip: if you have any of that delicious sauce left over, dip your biscuit in it. Trust me, you can thank me later! Speaking of biscuits, they come with housemade apple or seasonal pumpkin butter, jams, and real butter. Talk about starting your morning off right! Now, let's talk about what I ordered: the Land and Sea Benedict. A large, fluffy, housemade biscuit topped with perfectly seasoned and cooked shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and Creole gravy, served with two eggs cooked to order and finished with bacon bits. Y'all, this breakfast CHANGED MY LIFE. Every bite was incredible, and I was genuinely sad that I couldn't eat more because I was so full. That's how good it was! If you're looking for a small, local cafe serving up absolutely incredible food, look no further. The Banks Grill is the kind of place that reminds you why supporting local businesses is so important. Put this spot on your breakfast bucket list! I promise you won't want to miss it. I'm already dreaming about my next visit!
